  1. Wllis, Hunt, & Hefney all came before Mack.

  2. If we're going to get nostalgic for old personnel guys, I'd take him over Mack any day. Neither one should ever have full control over a franchise though.

Boards like this, twitter and call in shows always reenforces that NHL GM's are actually paid professionals and thank God they dont listen to the fans. if they did, we'd have dressed 84 players this season already.

  7. He wasn't as bad as some people think, but he certainly wasn't as good as you think he was. He found some high end guys, but the garbage fire that was the "talent" on that 2013 team shows that he didn't find nearly enough of it. With no role in putting the team together, I'd consider taking him back as a scout too, although he's old as **** now. I'd probably rather have Moll.

  8. I'd bring back Mack as a scout under the condition that he spend no time in Winnipeg.

  9. You can also throw names like Sears and Washington and Wild in there too. I get that people want to pretend that Joe Mack was the worst person in the world and he did make mistakes, but when it came to recruiting players from the states he was damned good, but he relied on that entirely and didn't make good coaching choices so the whole thing didn't work.

  12. You cannot stress enough, the importance of signing good young National players. Justin Warden, John Rush and Brandon Tennant. Welcome back to the fold. The fact that Warden and Tennant were on the practice roster at the end of the season, and now are invited back, is encouraging. John Rush, who attended TC in 2016, is also a welcome addition. The backbone of any CFL roster is the depth of National players. Before Walters, at GM, we didn't seem to appreciate that fact and we suffered depth-wise for years. Last year, we saw how important good depth meant to the overall roster when we suffered so many injuries. These signings may not titilate the average fan, but to me, I say it's a good start to the off season.

  13. Mack as an American scout is alright just don't let him in the draft room.

  14. what you don't think Mack brought in a pile of american talent for this team? He did that aspect of the job better than Walters has.

    Walters' Priorities

hey if Montreal wants to be an idiot and overpay for him, go for it. I trust Walters will get him at the price he wants, or he'll have a back up plan (Durant or something...) but I really do believe that Nichols will end up in Wpg. He's not the guy Montreal or Toronto wants...

    We should trade him?

  18. That should last about 2 periods. Maurice needs to stop this crap and put Laine on LW where he belongs. Put Ehlers on his preferred right side. Put Dano on his preferred right side. Laine Scheif Ehlers (ehlers and Laine have huge chemistry, why keep them from each other) Perreault Little Wheeler ( a vet line) Bottom 6? Whatever. Just let Tanev be what he is and that's a high energy defensively strong 4th line winger. Putting him on the 3rd line is just not good or if you have to Tanev Lowry Dano

  19. Yeah, the non-guaranteed contracts is the biggest thing....it's almost insane that that exists in a pro sport today.

  20. Willis/Hunt and Hefney were all pre Mack. We're only crediting Mack with Hefney cause his stint with the NFL didn't last long and came back in mid 2010

  26. The point you're missing is there's no "love affair".... he isn't the messiah ready to take over the CFL with his spectacular QBing skills... what he is, is a capable QB who WILL win us some football games... and unless you haven't been paying attention... we haven't had one of those in quite some time...

Don't most teams tho? I mean for the most part I'd imagine most teams rosters are full of 1st Rd picks.

  32. It's weird that receivers have been so hard for us to find, when they're supposed to be the easiest to find, yet we can't seem to miss on the dbs we bring in.

  33. I'm excited to see what Rush can bring to the table. He was dealing with a torn hamstring for most of the camp last year and he never really had a chance to show what he had. I think that the kid could be a decent special teams player for us

Just because a goalie younger than Helle performs at a higher level doesn't change the fact that youth and inexperience are perfectly reasonable factors in a players' struggles & development. Thats like saying Wayne scored 90+ goals so why doesnt everyone else. Players are different.

  40. I highly doubt you remember this, but it was actually YOU who introduced me to ourbombers from the ebrandon forum.. I was only 14 or 15 years old then... ...24 now ...still kicking the can on the bomber die hard sites. I remember you specifically warning me that if you didn't know what you were talking about, you would get eaten alive on our bombers. Man, did I ever .. and then I become a moderator somehow

  42. Some explanation as to why Macciocia told the Als to go f*** themselves: @DidierRDS The Alouettes offered the position of president to Danny Maciocia but they would not have let him pick the new GM. @CFL

  43. As it was mentioned before, the Bombers were not in a position to draft BPA. They desperately needed OL, which we still need. We specifically needed a C at the time. Goossen was the BOLA, as the draft class was pretty underwhelming for OL. Duvernay-Tardif and Foucault have yet to make it to the CFL, and Player (drafted in the 2nd round) has already bounced around the league, including a cup of coffee with the Bombers. If they don't take Goossen, where does that leave them? The CFL scouting bureau is not the be all end all. Teams have their own scouting department for a reason. I'm still not even sure they are now in a position to draft BPA. We still need an OL in the first round and should also really be looking at a receiver. As for Durant, maybe the Bombers interviewed him and something about him turned them off. The guy did slide down pretty far in the draft, so it wasn't just the Bombers who didn't like something.

    Adjusting Rules for 2017

Why remove a strategic coaching decision from the game? It's a unique aspect of the CFL game and forces a sometimes tough decision. We should be celebrating the difference in our game, not looking for ways to dumb it down.

  46. It seems to me the Bombers were set on going OL not picking BPA. The rankings for OL were Duvernay-Tardiff, Foucault, Lavertu, Goosen. The top 2 are NFL players who have never played a single down in the CFL and the 3rd guy went 1st overall - leaving Goosen as the highest ranked OL available. Not quite the reach when you look at it from a team need standpoint. If you're going to mention that he was ranked 9th & 15th, then you should also mention that he was ranked 5th overall in the January rankings.

  47. I don't even have anxiety about signing draft picks because the Bombers GM isn't a **** trying to prove to everyone that he's the smartest man alive. He doesn't engage in **** waving contests with players or agents just to prove a point. He just works to get a deal done.
