  5. Every team had at least one opportunity to select him and didn't select him. Some chose twice not to select him. Montreal chose three times not to select him. Calgary, who took him with the last pick in the 2nd round, passed on the option to select him once. The Riders took Nic Demski. Ottawa took Jake Harty. Bombers took Richards. Calgary took Durant. That are the facts when it comes to the 2015 draft and receivers. So at least three teams had a receiver preference that did not have Durant at the top, two that didn't have him second either and one that didn't have him in their top three. This can be called a fact. Who would Calgary have picked if any or all of Demski, Harty and Richards had still been on the board at the end of the second round? There's no way to know without having access to their pre-draft rankings of receivers. Every team could have a different one, or a completely identical one. There's no way to know. Calgary might have been very disappointed to not get the hometown Harty. All of this is conjecture. The only thing we can call a fact when it comes to Calgary's selection of Durant is that they had him ranked higher than the 6 or so other receivers that were taken in the draft after him. When Ottawa took Harty, did the Bombers say "CRAP!" and move on to taking their next highest guy (Richards), or did they high-five each other because Richards was still on the board? There's no way to know without being in the room. That would be conjecture. Is Durant a "headcase"? Probably not. What does that mean? Does he store rings of garlic sausage in his shoes? Maybe. I haven't met him. Were non-football factors the reason he was taken at the end of the second? That is the reason that was widely reported. When something is widely reported it usually means one of three things: 1) it is true, or 2) there is so little information available that every is repeating that thing they heard because they have nothing else to offer on the subject, or 3) break out the tin-foil hats because there's a conspiracy going on.

  6. I think that your rant has been disassembled quite nicely by several posters already, but I did want to post my thoughts on this particular statement because it is total BS. His stock dropping is not a mystery at all. Every single team passed him up at least once, several passed him up twice. Each team knew exactly why they were doing it. A guy that was rated 8th overall (#1 receiver) in the last scouting bureau report was drafted 18th (4th receiver). That happened for a reason. Maybe it was possible NFL interest, maybe attitude, maybe both, but to suggest that "it's a mystery" is plain silly. Just because the GM's (or the league) won't comment on it publicly doesn't mean that there wasn't a certain level of consensus about him. Look, I don't know who you are and frankly, I don't really care, but I do know a spin job when I see one and that is exactly was your rant was. If you want to post here beyond that, please give your posts a bit more thought because, as you've noticed, if you don't, lots of us here will.

This quite the problem indeed. Josiah St. John - plays for the Riders Philip Gagnon - plays for the Allouettes Brandon Revenberg - plays for the Ticats Brian Jones - plays for the Argos Charles Vaillancourt - plays for the Lions Alex Singleton - plays for the Stamps Jason Lauzon-Seguin - plays for the redblacks Tevaun Smith - drafted by Edmonton, signed by the Colts, cut and moved to PR, since released and re-signed with Colts to a futures contract Trent Corney - plays for the Bombers Micheal Couture - plays for the Bombers Wayne Moore - plays for the Allouettes Anthony Thompson - plays for the Lions DJ Sackey - plays for the Argos Mercer Timmis - plays for the Ticats Juwan Brescacin - plays for the Stamps Mikael Charland - plays for the redblacks Arjen Colquhoun - drafted by Edmonton, signed by Cowboys, injured and released. Not sure where he is. Best guess is he'll re-sign with Dallas for another crack when healthy. So that's all the picks in the first two rounds. Every player is playing for the CFL team that drafted them except Edmonton's two picks. Tevaun Smith has been released two or three times already by the Colts. What will the wait on him be? One more year? I know the Andy Mulamba situation has scarred some people, but this isn't the huge problem you are making it out to be.

  10. ? When was that? He was injured most of the first season, injured in camp last year, came back mid-season and played special teams while sitting third on the NI receiver depth chart behind Kohlert and JFG. He lined up on the wide side for some garbage time snaps in the last 3 minutes for a couple of games late in the season. That has been his entire CFL opportunity. People here are acting like he has been playing the long con against us - growing up playing football, a successful career in the CIS, a good combine and high pre-draft ranking, a contract, and then "made it, now I can do nothing for three years". I'd imagine no one is more disappointed with how his last two seasons have gone than Richards himself. An unfortunate series of events has happened which has given us no data to draw any conclusions at all from. Maybe his CFL career will come to an end with him stuck as a victim of bad luck after another camp injury. Maybe JFG gets injured in game 1 and Richards has an 800 yard season. Either one is plausible because there is no data to draw from.

  11. Let's circle back to the daily circus immediately to the West of us. Just a quick post to bring everyone up to date on the latest from the gong show that is the big rectangle. Vince Young has apparently tweeted that he will be the QB for the Saskatchewan RoughRiders Madani has reported that the Riders have asked Labatte and Clark to take pay cuts this season for cap relief purposes. LMAO....Rectal Sauce and Rotor Rooter are in full blown spin/damage control mode over there right now. Apparently the media has a secret agenda against the Riders. It just doesn't get any more entertaining than that.

Me too. It's not outside the realm of possibility that this is some deep weird conspiracy intended to dismantle the Trump administration. There's no public smoking-gun evidence. Everything is a leak. But ... Manafort resigns. Flynn walks the plank. Sessions runs away from the investigation. Trump is a guy who prizes loyalty, why are all his guys being cast aside like that? Why are the Senate, the House, and the FBI all investigating? What's under all that smoke? Is it a burning dumpster full of tires or just a guy who doesn't know how to cook his steak? Where I stand is that these claims need to investigated fully and fairly by someone who isn't a partisan hack, if such a unicorn exists. And in past administrations, the bar for investigating the administration and/or its officials, was not terribly high, so that doesn't seem like a lot to ask. This is the standard partisan hack response to this stuff. "It's just the DNC causing trouble." Respectfully, this is a pretty dumb thing to say. Remember that the DNC are the people who can't keep their email secure and who lost to a complete buffoon ... and yet somehow they are masterminding a giant conspiracy aimed at taking down an entire administration. Even more strangely, that administration is playing along by firing and dismissing their targets, instead of standing by them. Stranger yet: prominent repubs like John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Jason Chaffetz, Darrell Issa, Marco Rubio, and the Bush 43 White House counsel have all called for an independent prosecutor to get to the bottom of this Russia stuff. These people are not quite the kind of people who can be relied upon to stand beside the DNC during its troubled times. Chaffetz was the November Surprise email guy, remember? Furthermore, any kind of stress they put on the Trump administration endangers the passage of the GOP tax and healthcare agenda. I suppose it's possible that these republicans have been replaced with convincingly human drone units ... they could be piloted from the DNC helicarrier, or from Harry Reid's secret desert fortress....

It isn't at all clear unless you are a huge fan. I've actually never seen any of the original Alien movies in their entirety. Watched Prometheus when it first came out on Netflix thinking it was just a sci fi movie and when I realized there might be an Alien connection, I did a bunch of reading on it after.
    3 points
  19. No one is claiming that he is a headcase, just that it was reported that he was. The most likely reason he didn't get picked was because he had real NFL opportunities. And, everyone passed him over, just like Loffler. Stamps took him at 18. EDIT: But that's good insight. Thank-you.

Unless Putin himself came to your house and told you he has improper/unethical/illegal contact with Trump or his people, you will always say "meh, nothing to see here" or "meh, the Dems/Hilary are worse". So there really is no point in discussing it because you dont want to believe it. Worse, you dont even want it investigates by a third party to see if it WAS legal or illegal. There is more than enough smoke here to indicate a fire that is in need of investigation. Trump has lied repeatedly about Russia. Flynn resigned over it. And Sessions has been caught lying about it too. Why do they all lie? The intelligence community seems pretty convinced Russia hacked with the intent of swaying the election. Isnt that worth investigating? "Meh, I dont know its true so let's assume its not and move on" - that doesnt fly.

  21. And yet... "Arguably the lowest moment of Kyle Walters’ tenure as general manager of the Blue Bombers was the decision to select Regina receiver Addison Richards eleventh overall in the 2015 CFL draft over Simon Fraser’s Lemar Durant. Durant, later selected eighteenth overall by the Stampeders, has recorded 572 receiving yards and four touchdowns through two seasons in Calgary, by far the most of any receiver selected in the 2015 CFL draft. The Simon Fraser product also had a strong Grey Cup game, grabbing four passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. Had the Stampeders won, Durant would have been the front-runner to be named the game’s Most Valuable Canadian. Richards, to date, may be the first receiver in CFL history who has recorded more career drops (2) than receptions (1). The Regina product has never started a game and does not play on special teams, meaning he often doesn’t see the field during games. For a league that allows teams to dress only 44 players, using a roster spot on a player who fails to reach the field is a serious competitive disadvantage."

  22. Well, if you look at my Twitter profile, you would think I was a Llama, so we can all pretend, Mr. Durant.
    3 points
  23. Oh boy, where to start.... Working backwards, last first... Headcase? Okay Mr Durant, you're the one coming to the Blue Bomber fan forum, to try to convince us about a player on the Stampeders. His stock dropping not really a surprise. Even if he didn't have an attitude problem, he was getting real attention from the NFL, including an invite to the Giants rookie camp. Yes, Richards went too and Demski to the Browns(?) rookie camp but it was Durant that fit the NFL model the best. So, regardless of any concerns, if they thought he was going to the NFL or at least sniff around for a while, it made sense to skip him in the first round. Just an FYI - no one in the CFL or who has influence in the CFL reads these boards or cares what we think. So, if there are rumours or whatever coming out of the CFL, it's not coming from Noeller, anyone else on MBB, or any other fan board in the CFL. All his accomplishments... blah, blah, blah. Social media... blah, blah, blah. Guess what? Everyone in the CFL has had success at some point in their careers or they wouldn't be in the CFL. Oh, you follow him on social media, please tell me more about this good friend of yours? Good thing for him that he hasn't had any problems - ZERO, as you say - since joining the Stamps because Huff wouldn't put up with his crap. So, he would be bouncing around the league if he did. I hope for him that he has a good long, successful career. You've watched him play, so you know this man? Good lord, go home, you're drunk.

Just seems ridiculous that because Foucault never played a down in the CFL... Montreal still owns his rights now that he's a vet But Muamba plays a couple years with the Bombers then chases his NFL dream and comes back a UFA. Really like the permanent resident idea... you'd see lots of vets doing it though as a way to extend their careers...

  31. FWIW - I did the Google thing. Read spring 2015 pre-draft articles from Cgy Herald, Cgy Sun, CFL.ca, Sportsnet (via Forde), National Post and a couple post-draft articles, too. Couldn't find one reference to character issues for Durant. Of the reasons I could find that validated his stock dropping were unfamiliarity with the Canadian game and rules, as well as possible NFL interest.
    2 points
  32. This is very important......and true.

  33. I don't know who he is or what his qualifications are. I do appreciate any additional CFL content, even if I don't regularly read their site. But he seems to have Richards mixed up with Ettiene, maybe for the sake of convenience in constructing an argument against Walters. Richards didn't take up a spot on the 44 man roster when he was injured because why would he, and when he was healthy he did play some special teams. The kickoff team, in case anyone was wondering. So there was never a "wasted roster spot" because of Richards, and if Richards wasn't even on the Bombers some other Canadian depth receiver like Kris Bastien or Liam Mahoney or Bobby Canucklehead would have been on the 44 man roster because that is how CFL teams have to make up a roster - Canadian players provide most of the depth for American starters and typically all of the Canadian starters. Unless we are DI-ing an import receiver, there will always be 3 NI receivers on a gameday roster, and that was true even when the gameday roster was only 42 players and Geoff Drover was "wasting a roster spot". Honestly, is winter so long that logic and reason are completely abandoned from February to May until we've all thawed out enough?

Here is a comparison of what they call the "Space Jockey" from Alien 1 (top) to the Engineers from Prometheus. The Space Jockey of course would have been decayed and sitting there for however long before they found it.

The humanoids from Prometheus are called "Engineers". Unclear at this point if that refers to them creating humans, the Aliens, or both. Apparently in one of the first Alien movies, there was a scene that had one of the humanoids in full armour in their spaceship "driving chair" that was never addressed. Prometheus was supposed to start filling that hole. The current plan I think is to have two more movies that bridge to Alien. Some theories out there is that the Engineers race was split into factions. Some of which colonised planets and were the "science" type guys. Some of the theories for Prometheus is that planet it place on was a military base for the Engineers and the Alien was created as an experiment that had gone horribly wrong. So the humanoid from Prometheus would have been from the military branch of the engineers. I think the basic premise of Prometheus is the Engineers created us along time ago, and now the Engineers (maybe a different faction) were going to go back to kill us. Maybe the Alien was created to get rid of all the planets an opposing faction seeded. Tough to say how much the next two movies will clear up what it all means.

  46. Durant was an outstanding teammate at SFU. He gave the coaches no problems at all. Always worked hard in practice & games. He was a beast in the weight room. He was a beast on the field as well capable of dominating games all by himself. He's a quiet guy. Very shy. Doesn't say a lot. Let's just say the only team that got it right about Durant were the Stampeders. The Bombers picked Richardson before him so Walters blew it. As Ace_Wells said, Durant's no headcase. How do I know? My son was his qb at SFU for 3 seasons & always had great things to say about Durant. I'll take his word over some random fans here trying to say things that aren't true to justify the Bombers not selecting him.
    1 point
  47. Here's the explanation. The planet in Prometheus is not the same planet as Alien. Diff name. The "aliens" are a hybrid of the "alien" creature and the host. Hence in Alien & Aliens same look. Alien3 it came out of a dog. In Prometheus the alien came out of an "engineer" guy. Weyland/Weyland-Yutani tie into everything from Prometheus to A3. AvP is not part of the canon of the franchise.

And thats a great question by Franken. Its a police thing. "If someone WAS guilty of this crime, what should happen to them". If the response is "throw the book at them" then you can use that later. if the response is "they were probably mistaken and deserve a second chance", then your suspicions are raised. Sessions knows...he's smart. He avoided the question. But he hung himself. He will probably end up resigning too. But if he doesnt, when enough Republicans finally want an impartial investigation, Sessions has made it much tougher for the admin to use him or his deputies in that role.

Why would you make such an insane assumption, without research? Oh wait probably the same reason someone would paint him out to be a villain, yet have zero corresponding evidence. I guess that's expected on this forum. Your rivals. As far as knowing him because I've watched a few games - I can't say I know him, I said I am familiar. I am definitely MORE familiar - being that I have followed him, my daughter actually knows him -- than someone who is acting like they know him stating he's a headcase, with authority. The mention of accomplishments, and who celebrates them -- was not around thinking he's any different than any other CFL player as you suggested....it was the fact that IF he was who the above user was claiming -- he sure has tight relationships with all the people who he's worked with closely. Nutshell- that claim is garbage. Anyways, I'm done here. Ya'll do what you're comfortable doing. GL this season.

Neufeld was the starter until he got injured (again). Bond's both better and cheaper. Without Bond, we don't win as many games as we did last year. JFG has to be penciled in as a starter this year. The other candidates are Richards and Coates. All of our import receivers are better than them. Hurl mostly played special teams last year and took some reps on D. That's the same as Bass and Bennett. I don't think it's going out on a limb to say that Hurl made more money than either of them. If we reduced the number of starting NI's, we would replace the worst one with an import. That's why I chose the players I chose. They are likely the worst NI's who get starting time. BTW: Muamba isn't that great and Greenwood is still looking for a job because a LB with concussion problems isn't going to get a lot of chances.
