  2. Police officers are easily some of the most overpaid "professionsals" in the workforce today. Considering how much of the work they do is rather mundane and unnecessary (ie. handing out speeding tickets at various speed traps across the city, getting OT for attending court when people who have been given tickets for ticky-tack things like decals on their windshield have decided to challenge them) and very few run into dangerous situations on a regular basis, the wages are absolutely ridiculous. $100,000 after 5 years?! Ridiculous pensions too! The arbitration system is a big culprit in all of this. People complain about lack of money for proper infrastructure in this city and province and the ongoing deficits. The police(mostly) and to a lesser extent, teachers and firefighters' runaway salaries and pensions are the biggest factors gobbling up vast quantities of tax revenues - their salary increases over-and-above the rate of inflation seemingly year after year. There needs to be either a) salary freeze for a few years or b)1-2% increases in line with the inflation rate. We also should be reducing the hours and size of the police force if anything as crime rates are much lower than they were two decades ago. Don't mention that to the Winnipeg police union though - I'm sure if you asked them crime is at an all-time high and the kids are running wild. Gotta go now and catch the next speeder in a 50 km/hr zone!lol

  3. Im picking seastrunk to be the new tony ortiz. First team all TC star, pre season stud, but a guy with out much of a chance at RB. Could be roberson too. This is hands down the most talented group of RBs ive ever seen us have. Roberson, seastrunk, and flanders, on top of harris? (I like what normand can do a lot too) With our ol and ol depth? For my money its the position to watch for sheer entertainment value in camp. Got knox winning the MLB job. But I think Hurl has an out side chance to start / play as many reps as any one at MLB this year. Gonna say ekakitie and jake the snake start out close to even splitting time at DT with ekakitie quickly earning more of the reps while jake takes more back as he hits the rookie wall late in the year. Lefevour winning the no2 spot with apodaca winning the development spot. First big cut? neufeld.

    Red zone

Top 5 in a 9 team league where 7 teams make the play offs. + completions in the red zone that still lead to field goal drives isnt success in the red zone. Our offense loves 8 yard passes on 2nd and 10 / 2nd and goal from the 10 etc. We dont do great red zone scheming. PA fades, iso in and outs, rub routes, shovel pass etc. We kicked a ton of fgs last year including lots of short ones. The problem wasnt just red zone production. It was long periods of time where our offense was nearly none existent. Wed stop running the ball for entire quarters, our first drives are constantly weak despite it being the best planned drive of the game.

That corner route to Denny works nearly flawlessly, but I'm curious how often they can go to that well before people start shutting it down...

    Red zone

Thought we would have fixed our Red Zone woes last year picking up Gurly, didn't really work out and now he's not even with us. Hopefully Stafford will have Rod Black calling him the Sticky Staff and he grabs everything tossed his way for the score

You may be right but that TD pass to Matt Nichols from Rory Kohlert was a thing of beauty.

    Red zone

I feel like every single year I've been on Bombers messageboards, the #1 complaint has been redzone production....it goes back to at least the Khari days...

    Red zone

Lapo tends to get more conservative the closer the offence gets to the end zone. Most of our touchdowns come from big plays outside the red zone that either end up in the end zone or at the one yard line where we can just punch it in. Or Andrew Harris runs it in through sheer force of will. I'd like to see us be a little more aggressive in the red zone but with that comes increased chance for turnovers.
