  1. Addison Richards has a knee brace on (everyone was talking **** lol) leggett still out, I was talking with his wife, he's gonna be ready to go, noticeably less limp. Still no fogg. Oh yeah this happened too

  2. Short practice today, lots of chirping from the dbs. Only pick I saw today was by number 78, not on my program, believe it was a rifles player. Dresser and Denmark just get open everywhere. Defence looked strong again today, everybody flying to the ball. Davis threw a beautiful corner route to Yachison right over the shoulder, beat Roc by an inch for a touchdown. Gonna be real close between Davis and Lefevour for backup imo. Defensive tackles came to the sidelines, Really like our Canadians, really like Ekakitie and Rupert Butcher is absolutely massive. Knocking over the sled with a club every time. If Butcher can improve his footwork, look out. nothing much else, all the reporters were there, Wicek spent the whole time talking about anything but football and was sitting behind the players wearing his dress clothes and lofers in +30 so I don't know how he could see anything. Formal apology to Bob Irving he and Tait were both there watching the whole time along with Bauming as well.

  5. Training camp 1972. St.John's Ravenscourt Boys School. Beautiful campus by the river in Fort Garry. Huge Elm trees so lots of shade to watch the Bombers at training camp. Camp started June 15th. Biked from my house about 5 miles from my place in Riverview almost everyday. Except when I had to write my grade 9 finals. I remember the huge banner HC Jim Spavital put up that said "Toronto 72" on it. Spavital loved his hitting & 2 a days were brutal. In full pads the entire time. In those days training camp was longer. The exhibition season was 4 games. So, the players were hitting from the first TC practice right thru until the first exhibition game which wasn't for 2-3 weeks. Spavital loved to yell. He was on a metal tower where he could watch the entire practice. Training camps then were nothing like today. It was hit! Hit! Hit!! I saw or met qbs Don Jonas & Ron Johnson. Mack Herron was coming off his rookie all star season. The Bombers were a powerhouse offensively. They had a dominant rusher in Herron, a Schenley Award winning qb in Jonas, a tough offensive line anchored by Bill Frank & Bob Lueck, as well as a bunch of receivers in Bob LaRose, Jim Thorpe, Paul Markle & Bobby Kraemer who could catch. Defensively guys like Joe Critchlow, Jim Sullivan Rob McLaren & Mickey Doyle were studs with our secondary of Paul Brule, Tom Oberg, Grady Cavness, Peter Ribbins & Gene Lakusiak perhaps the strength of that team. the Bombers were loaded & the class of the CFL in 1972. Should have won the Grey Cup that year.

  7. Nice! Yes I am a fan of JFG. There was a game 2015, I think vs Hamilton - he made a clutch catch in the dying seconds for a big win. But he has made a significant number of clutch grabs even though he does not see the ball go his way too often. The thing I like is that he appears to be fearless. And also dependable. Very few drops or bobbles. JFG always fights hard for possession if contested. That drove me crazy about Kohlert last year - ball kept sailing through his hands and into the waiting mitts of a defender at the most inopportune moments.

  8. And, you guys could be right, but check out what this dude has predicted... According to this article http://doorfliesopen.com/index.php/2017/06/08/cfl-beat-29/ 2 of the team's in the East will have an 11-7 (Ottawa) and a 10-8 (Hamilton) record, followed by Montreal at 9-9 and Toronto at 4-14. ?‍?With a very tough Western division, those numbers seem somewhat high... FINALLY! AT TONIGHT ON TSN

  9. No question.... Connor still has huge potential so I wouldn't lump him in there because that's two different things... but if it came down to Perreault vs Copp/Armia/Dano... Perreault is better now and probably for at least a few years into the future as well.

  13. Deyonce Whitaker....many people thought he was like a Charles Roberts clone but he couldn't hang onto the ball to save his life. I seem to recall Coach Ritchie calling him Beyonce, but I could be mistaken on that. I do recall he had a special teams touchdown for us in week one of whatever season it was, but wound up cut because of the fumbling and eventually wound up in Montreal for a cup of coffee. Great thread by the way.

  14. Yes, based on the article, the argument the writer is putting forth is Perreault is the Jets' 3rd most important forward. We can argue that, of course. But he drives a lot of the play. He's probably a big part of a really good 3rd line...and if we have a really good 3rd line and a traditional checking 4th line, things probably look good.

  15. We have to get used to other teams looking at and using our cuts on their teams. For QBs, it's been a long time since that's happened with success. If MBT and Bennett stick, that would be a first in a long time (please don't bring up Joey E). We're seeing it with receivers (Ricky Collins, possibly Mayo). Walters and the WBB are showing to have a good scouting network. Other teams are realizing it. The Esks, the Stamps, the Lions all had periods where they led the scouting, now we're starting to do that.

  18. Happy memories of many Blue Bomber TCs. But one stands out. I got detailed personal instructions from the HC on route-running: "See the goal posts and end-zone way down there at the other end of the field? Yes? See the tunnel under the stands? Run to the tunnel. Go in it. Keep fading. Follow the tunnel and then go outside the stadium. Keep running for several city blocks. Fake a left turn and cut right. Cody (Ledbetter) will fake it to you." Needless to say, I got cut shortly after.

I can't recall the exact year, I want to say around 2004-2006. We had this middle linebacker Tony Ortiz that everyone on the boards loved but he couldn't stay healthy. I want to say he even joined OB and would make a post every so often. Personally I never understood the hype, but regardless it's a name I remember given the circumstances. I also recall a receiver, Abe Morlu. Ran something like 4.25 in the 40 which had everyone in awe but what came apparent super quick was that he couldn't run a route to safe his life in training camp. 2009, a QB with a cannon arm Darrell Hackney had everyone's attention but never made it out of camp. Damn he could sling it.

  20. I saw that too. Apodaca was switching his hold position from left to right - practicing taking the snap from either side. I have not seen that before. For awhile he was taking the snaps one-handed: catching the ball in his right hand and smacking it down for the hold. Guy has obviously done this before. Earlier in the 12x12s Santos-Knox snagged a nice i/c off a throw by Davis - receiver had the ball but popped it up and Santos-Knox was in the right place with good reaction to snag it. I was surprised to see an LB covering deep like that. Pic was not the Qbs fault. In fact, I thought Davis looked good today. Took most the reps from what I could see. He was putting the ball in tight spaces and looks very comfortable running with it if necessary (and sometimes when it is planned). I was sorry to see G Sheppard and TJ Thorpe still nursing their wounds on the sidelines. At least Sheppard had his helmet along today. Clock could be ticking on those guys. They are not going to make this team from the tub. But then, there is an extra week of "camp" due to the 1st week bye. New guy, #74 Daniel Williams I think he is, made a great grab on a bullet from Davis. That guys looks very smooth considering he has only been here a couple of days. I had a brief chat with Julian Feoli-Gudino. I gotta say that guy has made some clutch catches for this club in game action, and looks pretty consistent to me. He said the players are expecting big things this year, fans are going to be in for a treat. It is a bit hard to see nuances on the sidelines at field level - players seem more vocal than I have seen in previous TCs,

  21. Quick update from camp - went Monday and Tuesday. I missed the first half Monday, and so the last hour and a bit I saw was all special teams. Walked over and watched the OL practice but nothing too noteworthy. Tuesday was a lot more fun from a fan perspective. Chris Randle had a really nice interception early on against the offense. I will say that in camp this year the defense seems extremely vocal, in a good way. Lots of coaching between each other and just a lot of fun too. Leggett can be heard just talking a bunch, at one point yesterday he was literally barking for a few minutes. Heard Randle walking the sidelines too. Shayon Green spent some time on the sideline with Jamal Westerman working on hand technique. Defensive tackles got to practice hand swipes and rips against the anchored tackle dummy. Ekakitie got some ribbing when he was the only one who didn't flip it completely on its side. Needed to get his hand under the armpit more, which the coaches pointed out. As for the QBs, I thought Lefevour looked erratic. Overthrew several balls and one in the turf. Nichols looked pretty good. Davis didn't stand out one way or the other. Apodaca had very limited reps- mostly hand offs and I only saw one short throw from him. And just in general, I really like our coaching staff. I like how they coach in practice and how they interact with the players. Different vibe than say, Doug Berry in the golf cart.

  25. Kulikov would be an interesting signing that would probably come cheap. He stunk last year and had injury problems, but he was a decent 20+ min a night player in Florida. Good skater and a left hand shot. He's my under the radar fa signing this year.

Trumps lawyer. Misspelled "President" in press release

  29. To propagate their mythology the US will go to great lengths to protect the position of president, no matter the ass the incumbent proves to be. Thus Nixon walked instead of going to jail and nothing will likely come of this investigation to harm Trump directly other than exposing him as a buffoon.

Comey's response is telling. It could mean "yes, but not intentionally" or "he didnt want to but they had something on him" or "not directly but sort of". What it doesnt mean, most likely is "no". Although he also gave an answer where he said intel did not indicate collusion between Trump staff and Russia. So its a bit interesting. I think Comey is being very careful and almost surely has spoken with the Special Counsel and does not want to impact his investigation. My feeling is, the end result will be a scathing admonishment of Trump that falls short of indictment. Flynn might go down though and who's to say he doesnt flip. On the other hand, if this drags out til the mid-terms and if the Dems take control, all bets are off.

Freaked out when Julian came down with that pass, Bobby Irving had a great call for it too. I also think that it was Quincy McDuffie who burned us for a long return TD to set us back in that game.

  41. I have a breaking report. The team is planning which players to take to Regina for the game Saturday. A roster will be released by Friday. Look for all 4 QBs to play. Sam Hurl will get reps at MLB and numerous Bomber fans will be pissed off. Multiple players will audition for the returner job. If the Riders win, their fans will flood message boards to talk about how the Jones Plan is coming to fruition.

  48. Matt Nichols is still the starter but Mike O'Shea has stated he is "on thin ice" due to having a child recently. MOS believe players should be totally focused on football. Clarence Denmark was busted in the off-season for steroids so he'll miss the first 4 games of the season. Against everyone's better judgment, the Bombers drafted only "players who could bench more than 25 reps at the combine". Walters stated that "CIS football is low quality so I don't bother watching game film." The Bombers traded next year's first round pick to the Alouettes for SJ Green but he retired recently. Terrence Edwards recently came out of retirement but he's dealing with a turf toe issue.
