  1. It will be very thick, but a deceptively quick read

  2. I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say the odds of a mid-season coordinator change on ANY team with an 8-3 record are poor. Due to dumbness.

What to do about the D?

There is no reason to complicate an argument with facts. Facts like winning 8 of 11 games knowing the defense is going to allow over 30 points against in every game. The Bomber offense has been very good. Apparently in spite of the OC.

  4. I can try to be upset about this, but I forgot where I left my cranky old-man pants. Once I find them I'll hitch them up to my nipples and talk about the good old days when you could get a car for a nickel.

  6. No offense, but I think any fan (not just you) who thinks they know better about this than players. former players and our commissioner ... have a mistakenly high opinion of themselves. If the players like this, I'm all for it.

What to do about the D?

Lapo is not Dave Dickenson, they have different styles. That does not make Lapo's style poor though? Lotsa ways to skin a cat, Lapo's ball control offence is time proven and he is an excellent play caller and makes excellent in game adjustments and progressions throughout the season. A very effective offence, that is shown in both the stats and the standing to be one of the best in the CFL.

Hell, I'll eat a small portion of crow here. After preseason last year I didn't think he was ready. Proved me wrong and then some.....though to be fair, I don't know anyone who expected him to be that solid, that quickly.

  21. Thorpe has been beefing with the Alouettes ownership / management for a least a couple years. He tried to resign and take a position in Edmonton and the Als refused to accept his resignation. http://montrealgazette.com/sports/football/cfl/montreal-alouettes/noel-thorpe-leaving-montreal-alouettes-possibly-headed-to-edmonton-eskimos http://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/noel-thorpe-alouettes-popp-1.3375729 Can't imagine MOS gassing a coordinator halfway through a season, but he did so almost exactly two years ago when he fired Pat Tracey midseason. Mind you I think the Bomber special teams that year were far worse than the Bombers D is this year.

  23. Yup. I've been in many ER's and know people that work there. If they could get people out of the ER and into walk ins, it would change health care in this province big time. The idea of community clinics seemed like a good one to me. I've noticed a pretty significant increase in the efficiency of clinics as well. Doctors and staff there want to get people in and out. There is no benefit to patients waiting in clinics for 12 hours. I remember back in the day, you'd have to arrive at 8 am and wait all day. They did not want you leaving and would not give an approximate time. Now, they often do. They will give you an appt to return. I cant remember the last time I went to a walk in where I waited significantly longer than my designated time. Plus, many now have their own labs and some are adding X rays too. Full service. These operate at a profit for the doctors and staff. Its essentially one-payer health care delivered privately.

  28. The Blue Bomber practices that I've attended this year, not one had full contact or pads. The Blue squad is remarkably healthy this year. It was by design not to practice with pads or contact. When I reported that, SF27 said "it's a good idea in theory". Ambrosie as an ex-player, must be easily sold on the idea as this decision is early in his career as Commissioner. Naturally the CFLPA is onboard. Team managements must be on board as well, thinking how much they will save on injuries and injury replacements. No team makes money by having full contact during practice. Fans should see a higher level of talent because there will be fewer star players missing games due to injury.

  29. This is the opposite of what they should do. They should be getting people out of the ER's and into Walk In Clinics. Ever visit an ER? Filled with people that *appear* to not need to be there.

  33. Yep, Stephen Jyles, kicker Grant Shaw and a 2012 first round draft pick. Edmonton then traded that first rounder (which was 2nd overall, ended up being Jabar Westerman) to B.C. for the 14th pick (which became Justin Capiccoti) and the 38th pick (which became Ryan King). Toronto was later charged with blackmail and extortion.

  34. Thorpe's star has fallen significantly given both the performance of his defense this year and the apparent issues working with coaches and/or players, as mentioned in this thread. O'Shea certainly isn't going to fire Hall, especially given our record. Moreover though, I think plenty of the issues on defense aren't actually Hall-related. Those big plays against Saskatchewan last week were mostly player-related issues (broken coverage, Walker tackling with no arms, etc). If Hall leaves after this season due to health reasons, then I think Thorpe SHOULD be a candidate, but I'll be interested to see if more comes out about this.

  39. It's been a different regime for long enough now. IIRC, the only players still on the roster from the Sleepy Joe Era are Clarence Denmark and Jake Thomas. That's practically a textbook rebuild since Walters took over and O'Shea was brought in as HC. Granted, the team hasn't yet established itself in Stampeders territory (AKA, la creme de la creme of the CFL) but the Bombers are as close as they've been in years. Winning a playoff game is the next step.

I also have to use iPhones at work and it sucks. Hate apple products so very much. I used to love BB but when they started to tank out I switched to LG and it was a remarkable difference. Have had the G2 and G4 and will be upgrading in the next month so doing my research about what the best possible next option is.

  41. Whoa there, big fella. On 1290 Radio this afternoon, Madani was asked for his comments about the Montreal mess, and several of his observations were very interesting. Firstly, Kavis Reed was told that if he wanted to be GM, he had to accept Chapdelaine ans head coach. Chapdelaine was told by Reed that if he wanted the HC job, he had to accept Thorpe as DC. There's a recipe for conflict right there. Moreover, team discipline had broken down entirely with no consequences for bad performances or lackluster efforts. Also- Chapdelaine and Thorpe disliked each other and Thorpe does not play well with others and resists direction from above. Thorpe likes to be left alone to do his job without any perceived interference, so I'm not sure if that would make him a good fit here.

Our organization top to bottom is well ran, and we have great leaders in place. Not talented "me first" guys from the 2011 squad, not talentless guys from the Burke days, we have players that love being here and will do anything to get the W that's the leadership Mike O'shea has instilled in our guys.

Or, Steve Jobs was just a better snake oil salesman than what they have now cause I don't see any differences in the what Apple is selling now, just that they can't polish up those turds as well as they used to.
