proud to say I was a bright bushy-tailed young Bomber fan in 1981 who got to witness Goodlow get his 100th catch live at Winnipeg Stadium.

For those of you talking about how we should not have released Thorpe, I present the curious case of Nic Grigsby. A player of similar talent that asked for his release. The Bombers obliged, and Grigsby bounced around the league a bit, before finally being released in 2016 by the Redblacks. Asking to be released is the regular job equivalent of handing in your two weeks notice, then having your boss say you can't quit, but you still have to show up to get paid. The bottom line is football is a team sport, if you hang on to players that don't want to be there, they won't put in the work, and they'll just cause dissent among the ranks. No doubt Thorpe was talented, but if he doesn't want to be part of the team or system - get rid of him.

Well it's good news to us now that Kavis Reed stays on in Montreal. LaPolice would likely be in the running for the head coaching job there but he would be nuts to join the Reed circus.

Guy could very easily be the MODP in the league. He's just such a good player.

No that's not true, The Bombers are the only team with weaknesses in their lineup, every other team is loaded 3 deep at all positions with allstar calibre players. ******* Walters can't even build a team. SMH

My biggest memory of that guy is half assing a play on Labour Day I think it was leading to an interception and Khari Jones just giving it to him on the sidelines. Man you gotta **** up some kinda bad to make a guy like Khari angry.

Watching Roberts do that week in and week out was such a thing of beauty.

Lost in all this is that it pretty sad that at this point in the season Jones and the Riders have no better option than putting him in the defensive backfield. Quite the slap in the face to guys there already all year getting bypassed and sure must ads to the lack of chemistry and cohesion there. Sure he's a decent receiver.. But he's no legit 2 athlete guy like Bo Jackson..Deion Sanders..Brian Jordan..hell even Gerry James. I don't wish ill will on anybody but I actually hope he gets hurt out there on defence..leaving them without him or Roosevelt on offence for final push...and if they field Roosevelt again that organization is pathetic..he should be down for season and playoffs now

Someone sure can't get over Thorpe being gone. He played 6 games, FFS. And someone isn't up to date on things, either. Dressler will play this week.

Mulumba is a tweener and has been since college. Westerman was a thorough breed pass rusher in college and in the nfl was a pass rushing LBer/de. Mulumba doesnt have near the polished pass rush techniques or skill set. Same amount of college years/games 4.5 sacks to 26. 4.5 tackles for a loss, to 45. In westermans stint in the NFL he recorded more sacks then mulumba has combined between the nfl and college. Westerman was incredible in his combination of athleticism and pass rush skill. Athletically and physically mulumba is similar to westerman. But at the same token athletically and size wise corney dwarfs both a great deal. But hes another guy who didnt come turn key with pass rushing skills. Westerman has an absurdly explosive ability to get off the ball. A lot of his career sacks are made with his first step. Its also why his production dipped after the first year. Teams cant play him straight up and aggressive. Thorpe could play the speedster role, thats the skill set and rep he came to the team with. He was brought into camp as much as a return man as any thing. Lankford doesnt do any thing thorpe cant. Flanders is very much a stand alone in our offense. An X factor. Plop has been trying to hammer a ton of different players into that flanker role. Smith, dressler, denmark, adams probably every import pass rusher got a turn at that smith package. But none made it work like flanders. He is as unique in that position, and un challenge as harris is as our tail back. The loss of the threat of flanders, the confusion and miss match he was to defenses is a much larger loss then his stats would indicate.

insert rodney dangerfield gif here* It seems like when the media pick against us we play our best. Dave ritchie would have this team chomping at the bit to show up the reporters in this league.

That and watching him shed tackles by and bounce off guys twice his size. Watching first contact be 5 yards in the back field then some how he manages a 5-6 yard gain. If he had had a premiere OL and mike sellers blocking for him his whole career no records would have been left standing.

I completely disagree with that statement as well. In fact I know we have better players in some positions than them.

Kulikov has been fine. Im more concerned about Myers who hasnt looked very good at time.

No team, not even Calgary, has the best players at all positions....it just doesn't work that way.

Just as other teams look at our Heath, Randle, or Leggett and wonder the same thing. I get that Hurl is not an all star but the decision to play him allows us to afford and play other all stars.

What makes you think Khari Jones is a good candidate to be a head coach? He’s been middling as an offensive coordinator.

If Montreal was smart they would have axed Reed the moment the reg season concluded, reached out to Hervey for GM then made some strong pushes for guys like Khari Jones or Devone Claybrooks (assuming AC has no interest or isn't seen as a good fit for HC). Cut loose DD and picked up Collaros. That would be what I would do the first day/week of my offseason in trying to get my team back on track

Interesting to compare Carter to the Bombers very quiet, low maintenance Jackson Jeffcoat, also a son of one of the great NFL players.

Apparently Carter has to meet with Jones everyday to keep him inline. Pretty childish.

The NFL website listed him a bit heavier and a bit taller, but he sounds very interesting- maybe a Charlie Roberts sort of a player. We can only hope.

This is nuts. I dont like carter. But i do admire the heart of any athlete willing to go out and try to play both ways. Thats insane. I remember eric wilson doing it for us on the line. If you go both ways as a db/wr you better have phenomenal milt like cardio. Cus dang even playing every other plays going both ways thats enough to tire me to death just watching. Id have his WR running a deep route every single play.

Man he is some thing else to watch run. Good single cut runners are harder to find then balanced / power backs. A good multi cut back runner is exceedingly rare. Under sized (5'7 194) dominant big sky conference scat back with good hands and good but not great speed (mid 4.4s-4.5) and minimal NFL interest. Lighting cant strike twice... And now that ive gushed about him we can go ahead and cut him LOL. Sounds like a potential MOS guy though. Dare to dream i guess. "Extremely tough competitor. Outstanding work ethic. But can Mulumba's mind for international business wait that long????
