I find it interesting that one of TB’s biggest criticisms of our roster has been that we, for a long time, didn’t roster an experienced backup QB and now that we have for the past two years, he’s complained about both of them at the time they signed.

Calgary seems like a team that needs a backup to me. BLM is coming off a pretty tough surgery/rehab. Buckley and the rest looked like garbage outside of the Hamilton 62-0 game.

Do we even know if he is making bigger bucks? I highly doubt it and it prob has a clause in it for any starts he may get due to injury...nichols failing etc...good move to pick him up regardless. If it means Davis has to go..so be it..the trade off of Durant and rookie 3rd string would be less than we woulda payed for Davis and Lefevour. We now have a guy who is familiar with coordinator.. an important receiver in Dressler and a guy who is a proven qb who can win and has seen all the defensive looks a qb will see in a game and will give us best chance to win games. I going to like to see Durant on the short yardage plays stay in in cheetah like Lefevour..but actually make the next play and have ability to stay on field for several plays and run our offence against a jumbo set who cant get off the field..

I think Bluto hit the nail on the head, Durant has a bit of the X factor, give him some time with our O-line I think he will extend plays until his receivers get open more often than not.

I agree. We need to start developing a guy who can become the backup after Durant. And it makes sense to go cheap at #3 with Durant making a decent amount as a backup.

I think we see Davis gone unless he has a really cheap deal and a young QB as #3 with a second on the PR.

I think there was an open spot on the roster. Lemieux gets us back up to 23.

My only concern with Durant as the back-up is his head. Is he really, truly ready to be the back-up? Ready to get back-up reps and hold a clipboard?

Its tough to say where some of these QBs are at. I thought Adams showed reasonably well in his first few starts - i believing winning his first 3 - but has since been saddled behind QB's much more along then him and as such been relegated on the depth charts. The reason why I think he'd be the odd man out in sask is because they just resigned Bridge to likely more then he was making, just signed Collaros to a huge salary, and its been reported adams is on a higher contract then then a usual rookie one. At some point they will need to trim some $ to get under the cap or to open up some funds for FA. I expect Adams to be one of them and Williams assuming the #3 spot

I have zero confidence in our scouts we can find anything worthwhile when it comes to QB prospects. Hell most of the QBs in the league playing were recruited from other teams. That entire rider stable outside of Williams was other teams finds, Collaros, Bridge, Adams... in the CFL its never really about who you can find its about who you can sign and retain

It was actually Kerry Joseph he beneficiary of Glenns arm break wasn't it? I have a hard time giving backups credit for cups. Durant won later, and hell maybe he would have had a second if his team knew how to count in 09 right? I think Durant is absolutely capable of winning a cup. Guy is actually a pretty solid winner as a player outside of last year, but come on, Montreal was a dumpster fire, no one was winning with that bunch.

Couldn't agree more. Everyone talks about how great Glenn is as a backup QB but how many teams have won the GC after signing him? You'd think if he was so fantastic it would have worked out at some point in the last 15 years.

I don't think they'd be interested in Davis or LeFevour. 2. Cato played 30 games for the Als over the 2015/2016 seasons - the Als were 6-12 and 7-11. Not only that, he's a guy that is known to have attitude issues, and you want to bring him in as a bench warmer? 3. Glenn (38) is even older than Durant (35). Besides, for contract negotiations, if you're pinching pennies, who would you rather negotiate a price with? - Glenn - who just finished another year leading a team into the playoffs, known as the best backup in the business right now. - Durant - Just released from tire-fire city, coming off some of his worst years. End of the day, management recognized that Davis/LeFevour aren't going to cut it if Nichols goes down. They tried for Glenn, he asked to much - so we got Durant instead.

I'd be more concerned about his attitude if we were bringing him in to sit behind a young qb. I don't think Durant knowing his place will be an issue behind an established vet.
