25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
Does the AFL have only 9 teams where 8 make the play offs? This play off format does work... with at least 12 teams minimum. When you have a 89% chance of making the play offs... how does it not cheapen the season?

For Vancouver I'd assume a lack of interest from the mainly Indian and Chinese population in the area.

25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
The Bomber fans will attend meaningless games because the experience at the game is great for all sorts of ages. The problem is that this only benefits Winnipeg and maybe Regina. It may get a better tv deal because of more games... but will the tv audience increases when 3 weeks out of the play offs the Argos sitting in 4th place are resting all of their star players and the B team is trotted out getting pounded by the #1 Blue Bombers? Will people in Toronto want to attend the game in person when they have a bazillion other options for entertainment. I know its apples and oranges.. but the UFC has a mega tv deal which is great for the company right now. However the product is suffering massively and they are having huge issues selling tickets and getting people to watch the product either when it was PPV or now on free tv. The product being diluted eventually will come back to bite the league in the butt. As I said before... this only works if they get more teams and the only way that happens is US expansion.

I highly doubt this. If the Bombers are clinched and have guys like Zach & Brady with minor injuries. I think the club would sit them and gladly have them at 100% and play a road game over trotting them out and possibly having them miss the play offs. I can also see casual fans just ignoring the regular season and tuning in come play offs since the regular season games at this point matter very little unless you are at the very top. Any time a league has done changes for the sake of "more tv" or "more revenue" it usually comes at the expense of the enjoyment of the fan. I understand the need for the league to make money... but this doesn't usually translate in a better end product. With the rule changes and this terrible play off format, they may as well do US expansion and eventually put a bullet in the CFL and try to merge with whatever UFL / XFL / ZFL league from the States.

My worry is that if a team is the drizzling poops (i.e. Ottawa), that teams 3 - 8 will sit guys for long periods of time so that everyone is fresh for this new long play off format. We might have late season games where the B squad is playing 2 - 3 games and the stars will be sitting on the sidelines.

Pavia signed a 3 year deal with the Ravens.

This site is really running slow today. This new playoff format is a complete joke and just awful IMO. The regular season means absolutely nothing anymore, teams will just coast and rest players near the end of the season because unless you are the bottom you are in. As a loyal fan this pushes me into caring much less on what happens during the regular season. Bad idea. This format would only work if they had at least 3 more teams. The only good thing is starting the season earlier.

Shadeur Sanders was handled humble pie by dropping in the draft.... the fact that this kid didn't even get a sniff as an UDFA would have me believe that the guy must be a complete locker room cancer for nobody to take a chance on him.

So why don't they sign the free agents who are on the rise and in their prime? Why do you think they sign the washed up guys / over the hill?

The Fight Thread
The first UFC card had a very large amount of tickets purchased by chiefs who sent folks from the reserve. I saw numerous fights in the crowd starting in the earlier prelims. It was bad. What didn't help was the lack of security and the security being older ladies with flashlights trying to break up 4 - 10 people swinging wildly. The funnier part was that the fights were in the better seats and the cheap bastards (like me) in the nosebleeds were cordial.

Gate did 1.9 million compared to the 3.15 million they did when they first came. Lottta comped tickets. But with such a lack of star power it may have been more profitable since nobody that was fighting was making big bucks.

I say we draft an American player who within two years of being drafted is complaining that he isn't playing in the States forcing us to trade him at some point.
