Hope they can get him to Toronto, and hope he can stick with it there. They need something to get people going to games, and interested in the team/league, Johnny would help quite a bit with that. The roster bonus is for the players. Even if they were likely going to cut him, if there was no roster bonus, Edmonton could hang on to him at least through training camp, then make a decision based on what they have in camp. The roster bonus forces the team to decide before the season starts to commit to a player. And if they cut him, then there is still time to catch on with another team.
