Dr. Ronny Jackson opened the White House press briefing, which lasted more than an hour. He said the President told him to answer all of reporters' questions — and he did. Here are the highlights of what we learned.

  • Trump's overall health "excellent"
  • The President takes a few prescriptions daily, including Crestor for cholesterol and Propecia for hair loss
  • He has a history of elevated cholesterol
  • Trump and his doctor agreed he should lose 10 to 15 pounds over the next year
  • He asked for a cognitive exam, which he passed
  • Sudafed may be to blame for Trump's slurred speech back in December
  • Trump has "incredible genes" and could live to be 200 (this was an exaggeration, of course)
  • "I am very confident Trump will make it through his presidency" without any serious medical issues, doctor says
  • Trump gets four to five hours of sleep a night
  • Trump "has a very unique ability to get up in the morning and reset"

To be fair, he's been the Doc since 2014 so he was Obama's doctor too.  Just seems like a wildly irresponsible thing to say for a doctor of all people.

Some controversy over his doctor  and the "extremely awesome stupendous" medical exam that he passed with flying colours..

the "doc" who signed off on it.. Ronny L Jackson or as he signed off on the medical form Ronnie Jackson..

strikes me as odd that a doctor, who signs off on...what... 100-200 things a day maybe... would suddenly change his style of penning his autograph.

I have no reason to doubt the doctor. I do find it amusing he predicted trump would be healthy well into a second term. Seems an odd thing to say.

Also his pre presidency weight was the same if I recall and he’s clearly gained weight. But...who are we to judge.

Hes a non drinker and non smoker and I would say looks good for his age. So he may very well be healthy.

I think generally no one cares about these things. Other then the fact trump seems to have issues so everyone is interested. So maybe he’s perfectly sane. He’s just an *******.

Also credit where it’s due. You’d think his ego would not allow for his weight and Things like hair loss to be so openly admitted. But he did. And was not obligated to.

Isn’t it kind of sad that we have to resort to giving the POTUS credit for being honest about things like weight and hair loss .... for the simple fact that we just expect him to lie about everything.

I don’t recall how open last presidents were with their Medicals. Though they’ve all been pretty fit and younger since Reagan.

Some interesting things about this medical exam.  The doctor was appointed by Obama. So you'd think there's nothing partisan here.

But Trump's height has apparently increased by an inch.  And that weight is, as I recall, the same as pre-election.  And there are many example of guys at similar weights that are much smaller than Trump.

Some of the media have had their own medical experts look at the results and they come away "concerned".  One of the numbers (cant remember the name), if its 100+ indicates a likelihood of heart attack or heart disease in 3-5 years.  Trump's is 133.  So how does a doctor, with a straight face, declare the president will be healthy into a second term and could live to be 200 if he dieted?  Dont some of these remarks seem absurd?

Prior to the medical I had read someone online saying Trump has, in the past, inflated his height to lower his BMI.  Interestingly, his BMI puts him as over-weight but  .1 from obese.  That seems far too coincidental to not consider that the height or weight was fudged to avoid being called Obese.  The question I have is, would this doctor lie if the President told him too?

And finally...does any of this matter?

BMI?  People still use that?  Is it 1980?

Apparently the White House doctor does.  But yeah, its not a perfect science because different people have different body types, muscle etc.  But obviously its still something. If Trump was muscular it would be easily ignored.  He's not.

Not every 70 year old can be Arnold.

I'm not sure when the president's weight became an issue of national importance.  I mean Hilary was passing out on her feet during the campaign... we're dealing with old people here.  They're not going to be in perfect health.  I mean don't the Democrats want him to drop dead anyways?  Not sure why this is such a big issue on either side.

I dont think his medicals were interesting other than the mental capacity issue.  But the chatter is all about how he seems to be lying about his weight/height and some of the absurd things the doctor said.  Im with you in that Im not sure its really important news...I mean, the guy is fat.  So what.  But would lying be newsworthy?

On the other hand, Trump made fitness a campaign issue when he relentlessly attacked Hilary and others so...

I wonder if this story could snowball.  We now have a mainstream magazine that, at the time, reported this affair.  Unconfirmed reports of a payoff a month before the election.  And reports now that FOX had the story and buried it.  It would have sunk his campaign.  Of course, he intended to lose anyway.  But still.

With everything else that was out there (grab her by the *****, etc), you really think this would have sunk the campaign?  Barely would have been a blip.

I think it would have because to the people that it would matter, there is a line between "locker room talk" (as he put it) and actual acts.  This is a Christian base (or self professed at least). It would have played poorly that Trump cheated with a porn star while his young wife was at home with their young son.  And the story would get more sordid when the hush money came out.

Recall that the Grab em story DID negatively impact Trump and he was all but out of it until the FBI/Clinton story re-surfaced.

There is a certain number of Trump supporters who will never have their minds changed no matter what.  But the story easily could have swayed enough to make a difference.  Does it matter who he's banging?  I dont know.  Its a character thing and people can take it or leave it.  But it plays right into the blackmail story.  Can Trump be blackmailed by Russia?  Well, he paid a porn star hush money so of course he can!

According to polls that turned out to be wildly inaccurate.

That's a pretty big leap and I can't see many voters making it.   It was never about Trump.  It was always about "anti-establishment", "anti-PC", and "anti-Democrat".  Trump himself is vile in pretty much every way.  I don't think the perception of his character could possibly sink any lower.  But it didn't matter.  I believe more people voted against Hilary than for Trump.

It doesn't matter now and it's impossible to know for sure.  But this seems like wishful thinking more than anything.  Trump has survived scandal after scandal.  What's one more?
