Price of doing business.

I don't think Toby waives without the Jets telling him that they would make a deal for him not to be picked.

This deal is really to keep Lowry / Perreault / Armia.

I suspect they would have been fine with losing Dano, but with moving down 11 spots, they got Vegas to take no players from them.

Chevy might have underestimated Vegas' interest in Enstrom.

did you forget about Thorbs?

Lot of people on social media don't get this.

Thorbs is a UFA. He's not under contract. He's not a jet (well until Saturday).

Chevy dropped 11 spots. That was basically the Price charged the jets for expansion.  Brilliant really.

Really.  I know many of you are having trouble with this.

Toby waived in exchange for a promise he would be protected.  That meant the Jets had to deal with Vegas.

They lost zero players.  Zero.

They dropped 11 spots. Retained a first round pick and only included a 3rd in two years (they can replace it if they want to) and lost zero players.

Had chevy not made that deal then Toby doesn't waive and the jets have to go 4-4.

Further, they retained Dano as well. They lost ZERO players.

Seriously you are the one not seeing it what's the point of the NMC if your gonna drop down 11 spots in the draft to protect Enstrom anyway ? Makes more sense if it was Lowry or Perreault....and Dano ? What has he shown that we needed to lose out on a potential LD defenseman we desperately need? And if we lost Enstrom 5 million buys us a pretty DAMN good replacement d-man. No this deal is a massive over payment for 2 marginal player....unless there is something else coming our way.

With the NMC we would have had to trade with VGK to protect Myers which would have been an even steeper cost.

Any defenceman drafted 13th overall isn't going to be in the league for 2 years at least.  Like Morrissey.  Who's to say we still desperately need an LHD 2 years down the road?  Needing an LHD right now is irrelevant to the trade.

Who's signing here?  Who's making 5 mil+ and doesn't have WPG on their no trade list?  Really not that simple at all.
