Yeah, it's important he sign today or he won't make training camp in two months.

  2. So the league knew ... but he kept playing? And only now does he get his contract voided? and the next question ... why the hell wouldn’t the league tell potential suitors about this? something doesn’t make sense here.

  3. I saw a post the other day about "hating" Sidney Crosby. I don't get it. neither does Mark Scheifele..... his article a while ago said this about Crosby: and more. I for the life of me don't get how people can't see this.

  4. Did you even watch the game? I agree with you on Mason getting another start but this claim he wasn't tested the other night vs. the Rangers is absolutely ridiculous.

The team was broke wasn't it? They owed him millions of dollars, and he got paid by becoming an owner. That's what I remember. So he was a great player, and a smart business person as well.

  8. Three back surgeries are not insignificant and while he did recover from his Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1993, he dealt with issues after that related to the radiation treatment he received. http://www.espn.com/nhl/news/story?id=2304706 Health/injury issues plagued him for a considerable part of his career. I don't think it's unreasonable to say they played a role in his decision to retire in 1997. That's all I was trying to explain.

The number of power-play goals has dropped 26% since last season, from 1.81 per game to 1.34. "Goaltenders are certainly better than in the past," Lemieux says. "The coaching is better too. Now even bad teams have [defensive] systems. If the refereeing was different, the systems would still work, but not as well. In basketball, teams that don't have talent don't win. Hockey is different. The NHL allows lesser players to get away with things. It's a good time for me to get away, because if the league expands again, the problem will just get worse. There will be more and more unskilled players." And one less magically skilled player. When Lemieux is asked if he would reconsider retirement if the NHL assured him that next season the refs would enforce the rules as written, he shakes his head and smiles ruefully. "They've fooled me once," he says. "They're not going to fool me twice."

  11. So Bombers informed the league of the incident... then he signs with Eskimos and plays for a full season but now his contract is voided by the CFL after the CFL approved the contract filed by BC after free agency. CFL knew about this in November 2016 and charges filed in April 2017... hmm.

Calling it, Muamba will be a midseason injury replacement for some team for inflated dough this season and he'll be a free agent again this time next year. (as a predictor, I am so wrong so often about so much that all I can do is use this power to get Blue the middle linebacker that'll put 'em over the top)

  15. Yup. They declared bankruptcy. He had deferred tens of millions and pitched the idea of converting his deferred salary into equity in the team. Another cool thing is, his plan was to pay all creditors what they were owed, even unsecured ones and he maintained that position when he took over. He insisted everyone get what was owed to them and he paid everyone.

  16. Definitely a company guy...though he did put the team up for sale once or twice but never went through with it. I believe it was about $30 million that he paid in cash and deferred salary to get majority control. A steal of a deal!

  17. It's interesting that he ended up in ownership. I know the decision to become an owner was not his but he didn't sell once the team's value increased.

  18. I found a story on the NHL's own website that referred to his being sick of clutch & grab as his desire to retire. But Sweet's story confirms it. Thank you. Maybe younger folks dont remember. Mario was my favorite player. He was very out spoken about the game.

Is this like that MJ retired 'cuz of gambling, theory? Mario retired 1st time because of cancer. 2nd retirement was 6 weeks after being diagnosed with irregular heartbeat. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/mario-lemieux-retires-from-hockey-1.618542

  21. Its just the jealously thing and the "Im too cool to like the popular guy". Wayne was hated by tons of fans too and people argued he wasnt *that* good. Mario wasnt so much but he played in Wayne's shadow but I remember Mario getting a lot of flak when he retired the first time.

  24. Controlling for opinions on what people think Trump has achieved since his time in office, one part of all this chaos for the last year and some that I'm fascinated with is the debate when asking the question: Is it as important in how things are achieved to what is achieved? It's interesting to read and hear the full spectrum of opinions on this in relation to Trump tenure thus far. In my opinion, I'm a firm believer that the how we achieve things is just as important to the what we achieve, more than just how the law/legislation/policies etc dictate how we can or cannot behave.

  25. Jets hit the ice in Newark. Jacob Trouba is in a regular jersey, same for Shawn Matthias. Adam Lowry in non-contact, no sign of Mark Scheifele or Myers.

  26. With Scheifele likely out tonight, I assume Tanev plays on the 4th and Armia moves up to the 'top' line with Wheeler at C? I don't think there's any point in disrupting the other 2 lines. Especially if Scheifele's injury is minor.

If anyone recalls..... my earlier posts about what is required from a Trump WH communication person. Well.... Trump upset with Sarah Sanders's inability to keep all the lies straight... http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/377346-cnn-trump-upset-with-sarah-sanders-over-handling-of-stormy-daniels Serial lying can be a pretty thankless and tiring job.

  28. If the league had suspended him before charges were filed, there would be people saying but but but its just accusations. And I suspect the league felt that way which is a bad look. Ofcourse this was before the Metoo movement. Even if the CFL decided not to suspend, the fact they didnt inform the Lions is rather shocking.

Trump's personal lawyer )Michael Cohen) was apparently given a copy of the intelligence committee's report before it was released. If true, this is a criminal offence on the part of both the leaker (probably Nunes) and Trump's lawyer, but upon conviction, the lawyer would be disbarred as well as jailed and/or fined.

  40. I'm not saying the general theme here is wrong, but what if Chris Jones (who, as much as we hate to admit it, knows how to put together a Defense), actually makes Hurl look legit in his system and it's an absolute steal having a MACK at 110k that's getting the job done....?

Plays well in Russia, elections coming soon. I heard this morning four of five Russians think Putin is doing a good job. They're dumber than us. Anyway, there's no evidence whatsoever the the American missile defence shield has ever worked, very well even against older missiles. It just doesn't work. It's like (I've read) hitting a bullet with a bullet. Also, I think the deployment of these by Obama circling Russia, was one of the reasons the Russians decided to upgrade their attack capability. The new missile he's bragging about. Military sinkhole/money maker. Also, not "defensive" cause if it worked one hundred percent, it would increase, not decrease the chances of nuclear war. If you could knock down all enemy nukes, what stops you from firing your own? nothing.
