Questionable tactic for what? Contract negotiations? Negotiations are done, Bombers gave their best offer and were declined. His comment is more for the fans than Muamba IMO. If it was meant solely for Muamba and his agent, Walters wouldn't have said it in an interview. This is a PR move for the fanbase to let them know why we aren't signing him.

That's exactly right. Kyle, very politely and very professionally, just effectively told Hardaway that he doesn't appreciate the way Hardaway is playing the game. He virtually told all the other teams what he was willing to pay, and that it was in fact a big, generous offer, but that the Bombers are not going to get into a bidding war. He left the door open just enough that Muamba can come back in if he wants to, but there are no further negotiations to be had. Well Done Mr. Walters!

I like the fact that Walters has spoken publicly about this. Gives the "we just let him walk" folks a chance to see that sometimes you just can't justify signing someone for whatever it is that they think they're worth. Henoc wanting to be paid more than Harris, someone who's giving his all for this team and is proving his worth over and over? Ya, not bloody likely. At the same time, it lets the Al's know that we're out, so feel free to adjust your offer accordingly. Good for you Walters!

Every press conference is a PR move. I'm not sure why people get weird about that abbreviation. Maybe it's too close to PC? There's a lot being read into this that isn't there. Seems pretty straight forward. We made our best offer, they want more. We won't/can't go higher and after 3 weeks they have made no move to go lower. They haven't called us back. We're assuming they're not interested, we're moving on. And, just for comparison and perspective, the amount of money they wanted was more than what we're paying Harris, who is our highest paid Canadian. Good on Walters for politely and publicly telling Hardaway we're done with his nonsense. If Muamba wanted to be in Montreal and he was getting a better offer from Montreal, he would have already signed there. So at least one of those two things isn't the case. Does Hardaway call us back now? Maybe, but unlikely. That means he has to be the one bringing flowers this time. He won't want to lose face to do our deal, and he can't save face without Walters' help. Another trip to the podium and some more PR. But enough reality, too boring. I was hoping for Muamba to sign as much as anyone else. It now looks like we were just a negotiation ploy. After seeing that, I wanted to see how his play translated into wins over the years. Walters has always been pretty good about not getting involved in the dog and pony show of just giving guys money for the sake of getting them signed. He's a methodical and thoughtful guy. Doesn't make impulsive decisions and I like that about him.

I like it! I have even more respect for Walters. Many more Canadian players are more impactful. I wholeheartedly agree that Harris deserves to be paid more. I believe Loffler and Chungh, Stanley Bryant are worth the same if not more. Singleton deserves to be the highest paid LB(National or International)...maybe even the highest paid defensive player in my opinion. Even if the Bombers had the money/cap space, I’d still consider it to be a slap in the face to as many as several other Canadian players than the ones I already listed if Muamba becomes the highest paid Canadian player. He lacks commitment and loyalty. I wouldn’t want to play with him on my team. I get wanting the most you can get, however let’s be realistic .

I sure would love to get a walters bomber jersey with the number being the year we win a GC.... get er done boys. In the presser it seemed like they are set on starting newf on the OL as the 7th NI. Which worries me to be honest. I hope one of our young NIs else where steal a job. Especially coates. He showed the flashes weve seen with other NI wrs before (most recently JFG) in that he came in and caught every thing thrown near him. But what I really dig is in general how he plays football. Getting down field and blocking for team mates, never giving up on plays, that blood n guts NI special teams pro. Ive always loved wrs that get after it with throwing blocks. Its contagious, and leads to all kinds of great things for a team.

Signing Stastny has to be under consideration now... but you'd need him at 5-6 million for 2-3 years - I would think someone else will offer more Maybe his chemistry with Laine/Ehlers and his friendship with Wheeler would be enough to make him stay - hope so.

I'm not saying Walters lied, he took a simple salary request and put it in context with A.H. to justify his position, which is a questionable tactic imo. I'm sure Henoc could care less what Harris is earning as long as he gets paid the amount he thinks he is worth.

It wouldn't really be a lie. Like I said, Muamba could have said "I want 240k". Which would make him the highest paid CND on the team. Walters to help media/casual fan understand why that is crazy, adds..."Muamba wanted to be paid more than Harris" with the underlying....That's ******* crazy right guys!?! So Muamba never really mentions Harris specifically, but walters is still able to show people why that doesn't make sense by comparing his request to the Teams leader etc. Get what I mean?

This was a game I was worried about. LA should have been inspired to put the Jets away, Jets had their rookie back up playing, key injuries...seemed like the perfect recipe for a poor game by the Jets. But, as it turns out, the Jets are good. Very good.

Harris flat out deserves to be paid what he is getting paid because of what he’s shown in the past. Henoc is not even close to being the player Harris is. I would sooner use that money for an American and a bonus for Loffler to keep him long term. I know there are a lot of people on this board who despise Awe, but I for one wouldn’t mind having him here if he were to return to the CFL.

If they though they would get the answer in 48 hours and didnt hear back, he should have said this after a week. I hope montreal does lower their offer now.
