You can take away our original franchise but you cant take away the memories. Yes Teemu is technically the Coyotes leading rookie scorer... But... We all know he never played for them and those accomplishments all happened in Winnipeg. Personally i think its all good to honor the history of pro hockey in Winnipeg... But... The current Jets history in Winnipeg starts in 2011 not in the 70s.2 points

He can run in snow though....Kidding aside I like the fact we are bringing our guys home and Harris will definitely guide and add a dimension to Lafrance's game ...that's a given2 points

I don't think they ever had any doubt on selecting Laine. It was either him or Matthews.2 points

I lived in North Battleford for three years, grade 5 to 8. They provided all school kids free passes to the games. I went to almost all the games, as it was a cheap night out. We treated them like NHLers. They were accessible and you could see them around town. Everyone knew their names and they were just high school kids. The North Battleford Northstars meant as much to North Battleford as the Jets do to Winnipeg. It's just that ingrained. It's not about money, it's about the connection.1 point

Fair enough. You could very well be right if the moves work out. It is all just speculation for fun.1 point

Humboldt Broncos

It means they lived with them. Most of these players live away from home to play. When you billet someone, you provide them food and lodging. But you also provide them your home, your heart and your care. They become part of the family. Your billets become like children to you. It's hard to explain what these kids mean to a community. They go to school there, the whole area follows them and they're part of the fabric of the small community. Hockey is life for so many and these players play at the top level, the pinnacle, in those towns.1 point -
Means those kids lived with those famillies.. Billet is another way of saying.. Basically... While in town they take care of them and house them and treat them like they are their own. Fun fact.. When i was younger i was offered a chance to go play out of province. I turned it down cuz St Boniface Saints wanted me also and i could stay here but if i did go to Sask, where a team wanted me to come... Id have lived with another familly aka a billet family. Glad i chose to stay here cuz playing for the Saints was fun AF. I had a friend who tried out for a team in Sask tho.. He didnt make it but... I almost wanna say that team was indeed Humboldt1 point

Jets and Hawks to wear Broncos on the back of the Jerseys instead of their names. Better be a Lets Go Broncos chant1 point

I think lafrance will be used a fair bit - rotating with Coates as our 7th cdn Chapman, peterman, Onyeka, Bennett, Laurent, these should all be first round picks add the top OL prospects and the bombers will end up with a really nice talent - I’m hoping Bennett is our first rounder1 point

Imo out of the back field type plays any back should be able to make. I dont expect more of him in that department then any back. Is he an andrew harris/blink type constant threat and pivotal piece as a pass catcher? doubt it. But with harris you dont need that when working both in at the same time. Im more concerned with us actually making good use of 2 backs and multiple looks. some read option stuff. We cant use the X factor stuff as a gimmick forever. at some point we have to be able to mix it fluidly both between multiple backs and between that and passing down field.1 point

After this season only couple left. I think they're all Kovalchuks.1 point -
Espcially when records are tied to franchises. Current Jets franchise started in Atlanta. City records are another thing. Stop getting bent out of shape over nothing.1 point

Yeah, just because it was a discussion on ill-informed forums, doesn't mean it was ever considered at the team level.1 point

And Lafrance, who many think can catch out of the backfield. (I don't, BTW)1 point

There's really nothing that can be done about it. The Coyotes used to be the Jets and the Jets used to be the Thrashers. There's nothing True North or TSN or the NHL can do to change the past and make people stop talking about it.1 point

Draisatl, Lucic, Russell and Sekera contracts are terrible... They really have to hope that Mantha and Jones are ready to go next year. Shocking that there was ever any discussion about Pulujarvi v. Laine as 2nd overall pick...1 point

The coach, Darcy Haugan, was from Peace River, where I work and just down the highway from where I live. He coached the local junior team for 12 years before moving to coach the Broncos in 2015. I didn’t really know him but I did have the opportunity to chat with him many times when our vehicles were in for maintenance at the Kal-Tire where he worked. A really great guy. In June 2017 the ground was broken for the town’s new rec centre and there’s growing talk of honouring him in some way, which I think is a great idea.0 points
