Back Up QB
The Classic and 2 others reacted to Bud Ross for a topic
My name is Bud Ross and I'm Alex Ross' grandfather. The competition for the QB backup slot at training camp will be intense. Here's a brief introduction of Alex with some history: As a freshman at Alpharetta High school, Alpharetta, Ga., he led the freshman team to an undefeated season. Coaching changes at Alpharetta, prompted him to transfer To Buford High School, Buford, Ga. Because of transfer rules, he couldn’t play varsity until his junior year. He led Buford to Georgia State championships his junior and senior years. He virtually owns the record book at Coastal Carolina University. He thinks, lives, and breathes football. Happy to be on board, Bud Ross3 points -

yes that is true. If being a ******-bag is now going to be called being a "Durant", perhaps the Pick Six should just be called the "Kevin Glenn".3 points -
I heard he returned his signing bonus because he thought it was the right thing to do rather than be a ****** bag.3 points

Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming 30m30 minutes ago Watching #Bombers QBs Chris Streveler and Alex Ross during Day 1 of rookie camp this afternoon... different skill sets, but both look like capable pros. They’ll battle for No. 2 behind Nichols. I’m lead to believe Winnipeg will not pursue another veteran option. – at Winnipeg Football Club2 points -

More Canadian depth at runningback can’t hurt. With our depth at Canadian receiver being pretty raw we might see LeFrance/Harris on the field at the same time with one being more of a slotback. So having more Canadian depth on the roster at runningback may be essential. It’s not a bad idea to for the team to give itself options.2 points -

Cato is a coach's worst nightmare, he's got PTSD from growing up in a combat zone. Here's what he's been doing since leaving the Als. Fired from coaching Miami Central H.S. Arrested in Miami on a fugitive Gun possession charge out of Tallahassee. Cut by Richmond Roughriders Arena Football team with the following notes. Rakeem Cato, the highly regarded QB from Marshall University, has been released. Despite putting up solid numbers opening weekend, his locker room presence had proven to be too disruptive for the team. Owner Gregg Fornario said: "Cato is a terrific QB and a great competitor but he wasn't seeing eye to eye with the coaching staff so we felt it was best for the team if we went in a different direction."2 points -
Nothing wrong in bringing him in. He got some experience. 2015-2017 Games played 11 (9 in 2015) Completion 144 Attempts 218 Yards 1726 TD 7 INT 9 He's a big guy 6.4 221 too.2 points

Manziel and Kaerpernick are entirely different cats. Manziel has shown some very troubling personal conduct issues, whereas Kaepernick took a principled stand against systemic violence perpetrated against minorities that have been around even prior to the birth of America. Whether Kaerpernick wants to come to the CFL, or if he can adapt to the Canadian game are still to be determined. So far as I know, he has no desire to come to the CFL, but he was a damned good quarterback.2 points
-
Welcome to our occasionally fractious group and we all hope that Alex shows well. That he has an MBA should mean that he has smarts enough to adapt to the CFL with rules that often confuse the heck out of American players who come up here. The wider field, extra player and motion along with the three downs are difficult for some to adapt to.2 points

A few years ago, maybe. Its hard for a MLBer to deserve to be the highest paid defensive player in the league. Now should the bombers be willing to over pay, and or risk a cap wrist slap? I would say yes. Our vet talent is peaking. We cant expect 2+ years more at this level for a bunch of guys. We no longer have a proven vet back up qb, we have the cap room and we have missed out on 3 major impact mlbers. Bear woods twice in the past year and a bit. Randle is 29 dressler is 32 harris is 31 mo is 31 bryant is 32 nichols is 31. Dressler has had his injury problems, mo is coming off one of the biggest injuries in football (short to medium term/career term) Nichols got banged up a bit last year with a better ol in front of him then right now. It is reasonable to expect that in 2 years half those guys will be gone. + the possibility that some one like poop could be gone in that time range to the nfl as well. (idr the length of his contract*) Now is the time to risk it and make the moves to win today. Im not saying empty the cupboards and go all in, but we need to be a buyer. Not a seller or inactive.1 point
