IMO Muamba's hit to Streveler was intended to send a message and was by definition a cheap shot, but the hit on Ray wasn't. Refs gave Muamba a penalty, which is all they can do. I hope the league also fines him. All that being said, I don't want the refs to given the responsibility of trying to figure out intent in real time. They aren't good enough at their jobs to be given that kind of responsibility. Even with several angles, after the fact, it's hard to impossible to prove intent.6 points -
Nichols will be our starter this year 100% ... next year 75% ... but if the year after comes and Streveler is still doing what he’s doing ... then you have to move on from Nichols. Have to. Can’t expect Streveler to re-up and bypass NFL deals if you’re not going to give him starter dollars. Keep in mind ... this is a guy that turned down legitimate NFL offers to come here. We will have to open the wallet up for that to happen a second time.5 points

Streveller is a guy who can get fans to pay attention to the team, and to the league. A very exciting player to watch, A player who gets angry after a dirty hit, and responds not by complaining to the ref, but by throwing a touchdown pass. The very last thing the league needs is to have a fast rising star's career shortened, or worse, finished after two games, by a player "sending a message" The league should send its own message : Suspend Muamba.4 points

I expect this narrative to begin this week over on Riders Fans. "Streveler the solution to all our problems!". It will continue on for two years running, ending in heartbreak and the triumphant return of Kevin Glenn. 😊4 points -

I believe the CFL is punishing these hits even if the refs. miss them on field and has been for at least the last couple of years, wait until the "fines of the week" are announced to see if Muamba doesn't receive extra notice for that violation. That being said hopefully Ambrosie puts more teeth into the penalties and increases them from a few thousand $$ to actual game suspensions for serious violations.4 points -
The only way Nichols loses the job is if he gets hurt or comes back and looks absolutely terrible. It's still his team for this season and next.... after that... Streveler time...4 points

Dear Mr. Durant, Thank you for leaving us in the lurch on the eve of training camp and stealing 70K like a thief in the night. Thank you for talking s*** about our team and fans on twitter which surely burnt all bridges and any chance the team would ever want your pathetic green tinted ass in blue & gold. For if you werent such an unprofessional POS we may never have uncovered the golden boy Chris Streveler. May your shadow never darken the earth outside the borders of saskatchewan. The hit on Ray was awkward. I didn’t see anything wrong with it. The two Stamps collided with the most force really. They want to avoid judging intent but that’s BS. Anyone who watches that Muamba hit knows what he’s doing, Plus as you say by the letter of the law they can have a repeat offender scale for headshots. Maybe first infraction is max fine, second and third is 1 game suspension, fourth is 3 games, fifth is 9 games and sixth is banishment from the league. But for the love of god protect the QBs and skill players at the very least. You have a guy like Streveler starring in his second start who could be a flash or he could be a star for the next 15 years and some loser like Muamba can attempt to take his head off, threatening his career and only get 15 yards.3 points -

The riders are built around worse character then the als over all. The als still have a ton of threats on offense and a bunch of good players on D. I expect they will have a big slug fest that will be more then a lil chippy.2 points

And man if the riders lose wont that be fun...reading their fan site would be soooooo entertaining. U never know..that Mtl defense may come in really ticked off with something to prove..they have a lot of talent there and aren't nearly as bad as they showed against us...and Saskatchewan offense isn't close to being as good as ours. If they put heat on whoever the sask qb is ..and they will cause their oline is putrid it could be a long day there. Also think they will lean more on sutton..and he will have a heyday against the weak interior of the sask defence2 points

Not to spoil the fun, but the Bombers moving on from Davis, (which I complained about) then Durant quitting, then the injury to Nichols, shows now much chance plays in the career of a football player, specially I think a quarterback. And Buck's star as a coach has to be rising as well. Hope we can keep him here.2 points -

I don't know if they would ever consider doing this unless there was a need but with the receivers they now have under contract it may be plausible sometime in the future to start 3 Natl. receivers. If Simonise can deliver on his potential, he may well be a future replacement for Bowman and it isn't much of a stretch to think that Petermann could be groomed to replace Dressler and his quirky route running.2 points -

Here's an except of a write up on David Gustafsson from Scott Wheeler of the Athletic. This was written pre-draft when previewing potential targets for the Leafs ... (There were also some GIFs in the article if some of the comments seem a little out of context. Again, one man's opinion, so we will have to wait to see how Mr's Gustafsson projects down the road.2 points -

Thing too I like about Streveler is when he starts to run when pocket collapses or things break down watch him..he is still looking with eyes down field to make a throw if a guy opens up. There are going to be some huge plays coming from DB's leaving their guy early to try and compensate for his running and he will use that quick release and and hit his receiver wide open2 points

A pathetic thing about the game...watch Strevlers first run...Westerman that piece of **** was trying to twist Strev's knee/ankle on the ground ..Harris and Bryant had to pull him off and you can see Strev say something. Things like that which makes me glad he went to the Montreal circus...no need for losers like that and he was basically owned all night be Bryant and Hardrick...and got 20 yds in penalties..we wont miss his national status one bit..Wally has that more than covered and his 3 TD's and counting are proof of that2 points

Those fly sweeps are being used to set something else up. Look at Wolitarski’s second touchdown they fake sweep holds the linebackers and he is open on the slant.2 points -
The “non-import” receivers had me thinking of Joe Pop too. Almost like real weapons rather than token Canadians. Loved Mo on the last play of a blowout game downfield first to tackle returner. He makes me believe. Happy Oline always a good thing. For 25 years why can’t we discover new quarterbacks like other teams. Maybe .... Blowing out other team ... huge yardage discrepancy ... for us ... feels like the mid80s again. (It was just Montreal) NA NA NA NA can’t hear you.2 points

1. Streveler 9 scoring drives.....Streveler is able to combine his obvious dual threat athletic ability....with the capability, even at this early point... to run the full O package, at a extremely high level. Displayed poise, presence and some moxie..... that his teammates are already responding to. 2. Lapo That O package he cooked up this week.... was simple excellent on all fronts, lots of variations, and great use of all potential weapons on O. Steveler looked real "coached up" in this one 3. D-Line Opo and Nevis were killing it. Huge pressure on Willy from the line. HM Canadians on O Jumping out of the wood work- Wolitarsky with his coming out party, big plays from Simonise. solid work from Demski and Lafrance. Petermann can ball. Crazy depth. Harris (duh) Goosen Becoming a designated go-to guy, for straightening out people on the field Medlock Looking like a machine, again2 points

One thing that was mentioned on CJOB postgame that we need to keep in mind...Shreveler has benefited from learning on a very good, talent laden offense here. Put Shreveler in Montreal and what happens? I don't know, but we probably don't see the guy develop. Put him in behind centre in some of our scarry (bad) offenses and offensive lines of the past and what happens? Sadly, he may just be another forgotten name. I've brought this up numerous times, but years ago Tom Clements played in Saskatchewan, was running for his life behind a bad O line, and did diddly squat. My point - The Bomber offense is benefiting from Shreveler, but he is also benefitting from our good offense, good vets, and good co-ordinator.2 points -

We have the third most receiving yards in the league, the most receiving touchdowns, and the most rushing yards, yet not one top ten receiver. That is a GOOD THING. It means that every part of our offence is getting involved. Last night every single eligible receiver on our offence caught a ball, one receiver even threw one. We look to be incredibly well balanced, that is a good thing. Most teams in the league have one or two receivers that if they go down, the whole offence suffers. We do not.1 point -

Plus the 3 on the sideline subbing in. Every DC in the league is going to be thinking about Simonise coming on the field and taking on their corners.1 point -
Sure...I'm sure there are a few teams with less depth and talent that we have would pick him up in an instant. But again never said he should be cut.1 point

Bit!!!!! Way to keep it classy. You've been around here long enough to know that I've never tried to troll anyone and this was definitely not my first attempt at doing so. And no I never said that Dressler should be cut. But there comes a time in a veterans career where he might have to assume a lesser role in order to give more playing time to the younger guys who will be the next generation receivers. I'd like to see more simonise and I love how Wolitarsky fights for the ball. Plus Demsky deserves more touches.1 point

This isn’t needed. It’s a good discussion point if for no other reason than it draws attention to the fact we DO have a lot of depth on this team and the young guys are showing themselves very capable of pushing the established, veteran receivers. Would I move on from Dressler? No. There’s value in his leadership, he’s still an effective, efficient receiver and, as others have noted, he’d be snapped up pretty quickly. He’s still a weapon and one team’s must account for while on the field.1 point -
I for one love the fact that every receiver on the field needs to be accounted for by the defence.1 point
