People really want a field goal on 3rd and a foot? There’s no coach in Canada who kicks there. The 3rd and goal from the 2 is a bit of a gamble, but it was a horrible play call running a search play right into a stack. Probably should be running more option with Streveler and Harris/Demski and giving him pass options too. Lapo made Streveler one-dimensional tonight and totally took away the reason he’s been successful.

Opening drive.....Harris running sweep...gets the edge.. ….and cruises down the sideline for 50 yd TD Nobody touched him, either... BC moving....until Lulay shot puts pass, into the end zone Fogg has easy INT and pretty good return...,. Nichols play action, then 50 yarder to wide open to Woltarsky Medlock hits 41 yd FG attempt...uh, off the post.. Bomber 2nd down D, still needs work But O has 130 yds in the quarter... Nichols hits Adams for 30, down the sideline..... ...but then telegraphs sideline out, for easy INT Bombers not spreading pass game around, yet... With Johnson out, Rainey stuffed on 3rd and 1.... Harris runs for 10, Demski for 20.... Demski looks pretty good in North/South mode BC called on IC.....then Harris pounds it in 14-0. Medlock hits perfect short kickoff..nice recover by Briggs.. ...and hits on 50 yds FG....off the bar....17-0 Bombers Harris breaks 3 more tackles on screen....beast mode... Adams kills that drive with dropped slant pass..... Fogg good PR....called back on "holding" Rainey has better luck on his good PR... Lulay is getting some time to throw the ball Wild called for "roughing" Lulay.... Time running out in half....BC skips FG.... ...to throw last play pass to Burnham...who drops it. 17-0 at half, but Bombers left some points on the field, there... Another good kick return from Rainey...guy scares me.... 3rd and I....Farjardo strings it down the line, Bighill with the stop Adams with nice catch....Harris bulls his way down to the 10... Streveler runs to the 2. Bombers go for it on 3rd down.... Streveler takes ball deep in backfield, but cannot crash it in... Moral booster for Lions....more points left on field for Blue.... Bomber D still cannot cover the wide flat passes..... Jeffcoat called for "horse collar" tackle...… Rainey catch and run for 35, another pass to Collins... Tonight's crew having some difficulty with "officiating" Lulay dives into the end zone….17-7 Bombers... DOD makes it, another gin... Bombers another 2 and out on O....which has been terrible, this half. Bighill smacks Rainey for loss....D gives up ANOTHER 2nd down pass. 2nd and long again....Lulay gets out of pocket and hits Burnham... Johnson takes sideline pass...no tackling....TD BC. Tie game. Bomber D now imploding....Bomber O has already imploded.. 1:50 left...time to pull this one out. Nichols sacked... Nichols rolls out, throw across his body for ANOTHER BAD INT. The idea was to pull this game out.....not toss it away.. Naturally, Lulay goes after Cooper, 40 yds to Burnham.... BC runs clock down. Long hits 15 yd FG...on last play of game. 20-17. Abject and utter collapse on both sides of the ball. Worst game by Nichols in a Bomber uniform..... 0 points in 2nd half, against a Mark Washington D Defense can't make a stop in crunch time….again Well, after some more gin...I am sure that this game..... …...will simply look...just as bad.

Bottom line to me - Even though the offense really stunk up the joint in the second half. The defense could not make the stops when necessary to at least get it into OT. And as others have indicated Lulay missed a large number of wide open receivers throughout the entire game. Richie Hall does not get a pass on this loss not now nor ever.

He called plays for Strevelor like he was Dan Lefevour. As bad as Nichols was, we win that game handily if Lapo doesn't crap the bed. To be a victim of coaching after three years with this staff is inexcusable.

I liked both decisions to go for it on third down, but hated both play calls. Third and inches should have been a sneak. Third and 2 needed to be an actual play rather than a QB dive from shotgun.

That is the type of game the Stamps rarely lose, you can watch countless games in the last 5 years that they get outplayed by the opposition but somehow slip out of the game with two points. That comes down to coaching, they make the smart calls at the right time of the game and they don't let their past success influence their decisions.

For what it is worth, we have a couple of Canucks who could probably give us more, than we are getting from Bowman...financially or otherwise.

That's on Walters & McManus for sure. The coaches can only coach the guys they scout & sign. I agree that receivers have been a problem. We do have some young Canadian talent that I think will develop into great slots but we have nowhere near the group of Internationals Edmonton & Calgary have. The only way to improve is to keep signing receivers & bringing them in which is something I don't think we do enough of. That's what the Stamps do. Even with the group they have now Huff will still bring in guys for a look see. They target a certain skill set. The guys they scout are tall, fast & physical. (Except for Marken Michel who is a speed demon). You don't see many receivers with Edmonton or Calgary that are under 6'1 & 200 lbs. And they actually push the starters. they know that if they don't produce that they'll be replaced as there is always someone waiting in the wings. Anyway, that's what the Eskimos & Stamps do. It's something we don't.

Nichols played poorly. Lapo called a poor second half. The D didn't deliver when needed the most. On the issue of receivers, I feel confident stating that Walters and Co either can't scout receivers or that we don't recognize them in camp. Year 5 and they have yet to find a WR who started and became a regular. Since 2014, Edmonton has Walker, Zylstra and Williams, Calgary has Kamar Jordan, Davaris Daniels and Marken Michel, BC has Burnham, Saskatchewan has Naman Roosevelt, Toronto has Dionte Spencer, Hamilton has Jalen Sanders and Terrence Toliver. Kind of pathetic.

Here’s an idea, let Lapo draw up the game plan and call plays in the first half and turn over play calling to Buck or the RB coach in the 2nd half. Help Lapo get out of his own way.

1. Harris only player this year that seems capable of playing 60 minutes of football consistently. 2. Bob Irving - called a great game as always, even though it was a miserable result. 3. Doug Brown - see above. HH - All you Bombers fans that stuck it out to the bitter end to witness a collapse more confusing and chaotic than the 2008 financial crisis.

When you're playing with the lead in the 2nd half - how does Harris only get 4 touches? There's aggressive play-calling and then there's playing with fire - they got cocky after the successful onside kick and ran very aggressive tactics that left points on the board.

Nichols needs to make a throw in half a game. Brutal 2nd half for Lapolice. Could not finish the couple drives they had and BC knew what was coming for th most part. Loffler needs to make a tackle on 2nd and 12 draw plays and not launch himself at shoulder pad level of a running back twice. Bombers seriously need to get a safety who isn’t a liability.

Bunch of questionable calls by the refs, questionable decisions by the Bombers and questionable play by Matt Nichols. And here we are

Thanks DOD. Was avoiding coming on here because I was too depressed following last night. On a positive note, Andrew Harris continues to be the best free-agent signing in the history of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers franchise. Demski is demonstrating that his signing was also a sweet pick-up. But wow. Wow… Just wow… Talk about defecating the 🛏. There was a lot of post game debate on ‘OB about the decisions to go for it on third down & the play calling thereto pertaining… But precious little discussion of what you highlighted: namely, this defence is simply still not good enough. The inability to stop anything on 2nd and long repeatedly is atrocious. I dunno know, man, the personnel on the field changes but the results stay the same. What would it take for O’Sh to accept that he needs a different guy designing the schemes? Over 4.4 years as head coach, Mike’s record is now 37-40. Is that right? I dunno, man...

Turning it over on downs twice in the red zone is not just on the QB - not by a long shot.

Nichols literally couldn’t make a throw in the 2nd half. Play calling to account for that would be basically not relying on his arm at all. That’s pretty hard to do in Canadian football. That was Max Hall level QBing.

Umm no. It was a bad throw in to double coverage that a bc player deflected. Even suitor said it was a dumb throw in that situation.

I'm not even a high school coach but I know that on 3rd and 2, kick the FG and on 3rd and inches, just fall forward up the gut. Simply taking the points when we have them would have won us the game. Gotta say this is the first time this year I've been pissed at a loss because this one shoulda coulda woulda been a win if we just took what was there.

You cannot blame the defense on this one. They allowed 20 points despite all the turnovers. That should have been more than enough cushion for the O.

Have to agree...very dubious reffing...especially on the roughing on Lulu by Wild...That one was a real stretch....AND the so called horse collar on Jeffcoat that was so borderline tsn couldn't even show the replay...Something stunk real bad as far as the officiating went BUT that doesn't excuse the collapse and fold-up in the second half by the offence...That was something else

I had no problem going for it either time on 3rd down. The play call on the second one was terrible though.

Crazy thing is how both games the offense/Nichols just tanked in the second half. He made a number of excellent throws in the first half and couldn’t hit anything in the second, even when Bowman had 10 yard radius he way under threw him. Wonder if he’s aggravating his knee as he tires and can’t get much into throws later on.

Thought 2 of the 3 RTP calls were iffy at best.. Maybe all 3 even

D took a lot of dumb penalties and gave up way too many second and longs. But giving up 20 points should be an easy win and should have been tonight. Bombers O easily left 20 points on the field if not more.

Nichols can’t throw deep from the pocket. The league knows it. Lapo has to run a lot of misdirection to get Nichols the time and space to go long. The misdirection stops and our passing game stops with it.

Burnham pushed off. Regardless of how hard, that's normally a penalty. Bombers aren't good enough.

You clearly don't understand the function of a board. They are not experts in the day to day stuff and have no business in "demanding" anything. They deal exclusively with the CEO and only the CEO. At the same time, if the CEO has confidence in the GM (which he does presumably) then he does not interfere. And if the GM has confidence in his HC then he doesn't interfere. So the only guy who will decide on the fate of Hall is O'Shea and O'Shea alone. That's how a professional organization works; everyone does their job and only their job. So by all means, continue to suggest that "the powers that be" need to get involved. They won't, because they all know better than that.

Drinking game for tonight. Everytime the bombers score... take a shot. Everytime the defense blows coverage ... take a shot. Everytime Rod Black says something stupid... take a shot. Regardless how things go, everyone will be sheeeeetfaced.

Great work, wish there was more of this kind of thing in the CFL media. You'll see lots of misdirection, lots of similar looks with different guys carrying the ball. Love the play where they have Andrew Harris be the lead blocker for Streveller out of a shovel pass look. Really showcases the dude as a change-of-pace QB. Getting beyond the atrocious play of the O, in the 2nd half.....,.bottom line is that this D has never been able to close out games. Didn't stop the Esks down the stretch..... and couldn't do it again, covering and tackling last nite. 2 losses, where just a stop or two, would of been 2 wins. Same ole tired movie

What's up with Bowman... is Lapo just not targeting him or did we just pay $140k for 2009 Adarius... Guy hardly looks engaged in blocking and doesn't seem to be involved in any plays... ever...

BC tying score is at 5:05. is classic Bomber D. ball at the 14, receiver makes the catch at the 7 , then three defenders whiff on tackles as he scores. Bomber defence is not good at holding on to a lead at the end of games.

Adams was down on the turf...which didn't help...but there should not have been two receivers that close, and that was not a ball that should have been thrown by Nichols

From everything I've read here I'm glad I missed the game. I have it PVR'd & was going to watch it but I'm glad I heard the score first. Now, I think I'll just delete the game as I don't want to watch it. Why we always have trouble beating the Lions at BC Place is beyond me & it's starting to go beyond frustrating. The Bombers have the talent to do great things this year. Why we can't seem to put it all together is another mind boggler. Having not seen the game I really can't say what happened last night. I do have confidence that Nichols will bounce back. Not ready to write the guy off yet.

Well, we do have to admit that last night the offense can be blamed a little. Not getting even so much as 2 FGs in the 2nd half of that game (or any points period) does deserve a call out. But that doesn't absolve Mr Hall's defense from failing to hold the lead either.

The coaching staff on this team has been consistently inconsistent during their tenure here and it was on display again tonight
