    Introduce Yourself

Hello Everyone. My name is Doug and I am a new Blue Bombers fan from Belen, New Mexico USA. This is my rookie season for the Bombers and the CFL. I have become fed up with the NFL and I am enjoying this change immensely. I posted an introduction on another forum but, this one was brought to my attention via email today. Please have patience with me as I root around like a bull in a china shop trying to figure things out.

Just saw a deal for this game for 97$ you can get 4 tickets 4 hot dogs chips and Pepsi plus a parking pass. It cost you 60$ for all that with out the tickets. That’s a pretty good deal.

Why do conservatives hate democracy so much? North and South of the Border. Pro gerrymandering, Pro voter suppression, Anti voting system security, Anti proportional representation. If you can't get elected without bending the rules to give yourself an advantage, maybe you should change your platform to actually represent the people who vote? I just watched Get Me Roger Stone on Netflix, it's fascinating and horrifying all the dirty tricks and despicable things Republican strategists have done to consolidate power in the US. Recommended watch.

IIRC they are pushing for proportional representation- the PUREST form of democracy... those crazy democracy hating LIBTARDS! Yeah, not quite the same. The left generally fights for the 90% whilst the right generally undermines the 90% and caters to the top 10%.

  11. 6 of the 10 biggest crowds in Bombers history have been at IGF. Our average IGF attendance is higher than our average Canad Inns Stadium average. Given all the things competing for entertainment dollars, combined with 4K TV and every game being broadcast, I don't see why there's a cause for concern at all. I remember that intersection open & there's no way what he says is true. The same here in Calgary with our idiot mayor Naheed Nenshi who along with his progressive colleagues on city council pushed hard for bike lanes saying getting out of the downtown to go south on MacLeod Trail would only take an extra 3 minutes according to a City of Calgary engineering study. I don't have the stats but it's nowhere near as fast as 3 mins. Traffic is slower getting out of the downtown everywhere with bike lanes. Nenshi just lies to the media. I suspect bellamy is doing the same thing or looking at a study like Nenshi did & is quoting best case scenario under perfect conditions that happen twice in a year. Not worse case scenario which is almost everyday.

By razor thin margin. It should not have been even close. The regressive won Ohio by double digits in 2016. That is concerning for the regressive. November is going to be huge for the Democrats.

I've read accounts and heard personal accounts from people taking the bus back then when it was open, that it could take 15 minutes for a bus to go from Eaton's (MTS Centre now) through the intersection. I call BS on Bellamy and his 10 seconds. Anybody looked into why this is such a pet project for Bellamy?

First of all I don't trust Bellamy at all he has his own agenda. I don't understand how pedestrians crossing in the morning will only add 10 seconds. That number does not add up, 10 seconds to cross 8 lanes of traffic? That seems impossible in my opinion. Also this completely neglects the impact of traffic if it's grid locked and where you can't cross intersections on green lights because traffic is backed up. Looks like fudged numbers to push his agenda.

  21. Average attendance thus far is 26,380. This is right in line with many past seasons. As a point of comparison, we were 14-4 in 2001 with an exciting team. Average attendance was 27,033 and they blacked out home games back then. 2002 we were 12-6 and we averaged 27,559. Blackouts for home games that year too. 2003 we were 11-7 and average attendance was 27,225 and still home games blacked out. I don't think blacking out home games would make an impact on attendance.

This this this. The sky is not falling friends. CFL is having a bit of a rough patch in all cities. Look at Calgary, it is the best team by far for years and yet empty seats. All live sports are having dips in attendance. In the end live sports is one of the things that will keep cable companies alive so there will be a will to succeed beyond just the leagues themselves. South Winnipeg is growing. Big housing growth on both sides of the river. Sure there are a lot of immigrants but the second generation will be more open to "Canadian" experiences. The experience will continue to get better too. That golf course is not going to be groomed grass forever. There will be lots of housing and businesses including bars and restaurants close by. The rapid transit system south will be finished soon and the east west rapid transit will make the "horrible travel" easier still. A Grey Cup or two will shore up the "losing" mentality. Source: living in South Winnipeg with immigrant family and friends and riding transit regularly. Also be positive you wimps.

  31. We should beat the Ticats. They are below us in the standings for a reason. If we don't, then their will be some uncomfortable questions being asked.
    1 point
  32. Not to worry. The narrative will change when we beat them. Then it will be: "Sure we beat the Ti-Cats, but they aren't very good. Wait till next game. That will be the real test." And on it goes.

  33. https://twitter.com/TovChazir/status/1027023390316478464 In the comments on one of his tweets, someone asked Brent specifically about traffic turning from eastbound Portage. The report said that on an average 24 minute afternoon commute, the total additional time for people who turn right would be 2 1/2 minutes, and two minutes for people who turn left. Much lower additional times in the morning commute. There are also options being looked at like only opening three directions to pedestrians, or even possibly adjusting pedestrian access during rush hour. You can see when he engages with someone and points out that the city is trying very hard not to impact traffic, it's possible to change minds. Also, let's remember that the intersection sees relatively low traffic volumes 22 hours a day. Why keep it entirely closed to pedestrians during those hours, especially if the money is going to be spent repairing the barricades anyway?

  37. yeah watched it several times...you clearly see the ball and the point where the knee touches down..all the claims that you couldn't see the ball at all are B.S...First time I watched the reply during the game I said that he was down....and the fact the live mic on the sideline actually caught Watford saying he was down prior to crossing the line is just more confirmation the Command Center made the right call. The Harris TD against Montreal was called right as well....hard to tell if knee touched before he crossed as one angle it looked like it may have...and one angle looked like it didn't...so inconclusive means you can't over turn

  38. In either regard, its sort of crazy to think it would happen. But imagine a scenario where Obama (or Clinton or W. for that matter) decided, nope, Im not leaving. Now imagine a scenario where in 2020, the vote is really close but Trump loses. His people ramp up a false narrative of voter fraud. Trump declares the results illegitimate and says he's ordering an investigation that could take X amount of months and until then, the results are set aside and the election is disregarded. The Dems (and like-minded Republicans) would take it to the supreme court where they'd lose because its been stacked. Come Inauguration day, Trump just refuses to leave. There are riots and protests. He sends in the military to quell them. Its crazy. But doesnt it sound a lot more likely now than ever before? Even before the election he won, Trump was saying he might not accept the results. What happens if he takes that position in 2020 and loses? Does the Secret Service just toss him out on his ass?

  42. I think too you may see more teams go the route of the Atlanta Falcons and a couple of other places and introduce the fan friendly pricing for concessions at their stadiums...an investment in the fan experience like that will pay big dividends and put more money in a teams pocket than is currently happening across N. America

  43. I don't think anyone will be going anywhere until the season is over just because that's how the Miller-Walters regime works. I see your point though. Thing is too, idk how much stock you can really put into the LDC since ... Well you could probably play that one 10x in a row and each time you could get a vastly different result. I would definitely pay close attention though to games against the big dogs coming after that week though to see if that awful defensive play we saw late last year rears it's ugly head around again. Like I said, we're really ultimately at the point for me where these winning seasons have to start translating into playoff wins. So far it's been Hall's fault that they haven't, and if we go one and done one more time, he'll be booted out guaranteed.

Once upon a time there was a wonderful place called Canad Inns Stadium. We must be careful not to speak about this time too loudly, but the memories of such a place warm us in this cold and horrible place and time we find ourselves in now. There was parking for 33,000 vehicles within 20 steps of any entrance into the stadium. Hundreds of invisible doves flew constantly around the stadium and would sweep down and take anyone who could not walk these 20 steps easily and they would carry them right up to their seat. Every fan was treated with an incredible 7 course meal for the sum of $1, or pocket lint if they did not have a loonie. It was such an incredible experience and everyone in the land was happy. Then a dark cloud covered the land. An evil presence was felt by all in the great land of Winnipeg. A booming voice was heard by all and the ground trembled. It was the evil Asper! The evil Asper tore down this beloved treasure, the Canad Inns Stadium. There was much weeping. The evil Asper banished the invisible doves to the island of Hecla where they were forced to play golf on a deserted course day and night. There was much weeping - though they were also confused about the island of Hecla. The evil Asper constructed a dungeon on a desolate and dark precipice of land that could only be reached by Sherpas riding mountain goats. The evil Asper then taxed the good people of the land of Winnipeg until they were all paupers in order to pay for his new dungeon that he named IGF. 10 times per year, the evil Asper and his evil henchmen would round up thousands of the now homeless people of Winnipeg and force them using pointed sticks and hobnail boots to walk the entire 100 mile stretch without the aid of mountain goats to reach his dungeon. While in this dungeon, the evil Asper forced the poor wretches to eat cold hotdogs and held them there until their families could find a way to scrape together the tonne of gold bricks that was needed to this sustenance. When the weather would get cold, he would even tell them that he had no hot chocolate! When the wailing was at its peak, they could hear the violin playing from the distant tower where the evil Asper would cackle and contemplate new indignities for his minions to endure while being held in his dungeon called the IGF. And there was much weeping throughout the land. Could there be a hero somewhere who could free the people of Winnipeg of their misery?

  49. CFL trends  1st Year Player / Most FGs Single Game & Longest Streak: The 7 field goals made by Lewis Ward tied the CFL record for most by a 1st-Year player matching Justin Medlock's 7-of-7 in 2009 and is the most by a true CFL rookie (Medlock was in his first CFL season but was NOT a "Rookie" since he had played in the NFL previously). Medlock made all 7 FG attempts on Aug 14/09 in his first CFL season and like Ward his feat came in CFL career game #6: The longest FG made streak by a 1st Year CFL player was set by Luca Congi in 2006 at 21 in a row:  Duke Williams 100+ in 5 straight: Williams' current run of consecutive 100-yard games has reached 5. With one more this week vs SSK he can get to a level that has been reached only 3 times in CFL history. The last to extend that streak to at least 6 games of 100+ in a row was Jamel Richardson in 2011. Williams has tied the Edmonton record set by Brian Kelly in 1983.  6-game win streaks as a starter: Bo Levi Mitchell has led Calgary to FIVE different win streaks of at least 6 games in his career. Only two other QBs have engineered more of these 6+ game winning runs for their club:  11.3 / 10.2 Pts Allowed: Calgary is challenging a long-held CFL record having allowed only 11.3 total points per game thus far. In the entire CFL Era (1958 to today), the fewest TOTAL points allowed record is held by the 1964 BC Lions at 10.5 per game and followed by Hamilton (1965) at 10.9 ppg against.  2000+ Pace: D'haquille Williams is bidding to become the first 2000+ yard receiver since Allen Pitts had 2,036 yards in 1994. First Full Divisional Week: This game marks the start of the first full 2018 week of nothing but Divisional rivals playing one another. Through Week #7 the West dominated the East 14 wins to 6 with only Ottawa coming through with a winning record. Hamilton, Toronto and Montreal played a combined 16 inter-games and went 4-14 .222.  No of different starters: Ottawa & Saskatchewan have had only 28 different players start at least one game compared to Montreal with the most at 40 players.  Games played milestones ahead: Nearing 100 games ... Justin Capicciotti 99, Dan West 98, Samuel Giguere 97, J.C. Sherritt 97, Sam Hurl 96.  700 Receptions: Weston Dressler has 696 career catches with 3 more to become the 13th player to reach that level. He is also now exactly 200 yards away from reaching 10,000 and his receptions streak is up to 119 consecutive games. - CFL Notes
