  1. The riders still suck and you should feel bad cheering for them.

  2. Greetings from the High Desert of New Mexico, USA! HOW ABOUT THOSE BOMBERS? They almost gave me a heart attack last Friday night after giving me the impression the game was under control at half time. However, a win is a win. And we have a huge game this week. I haven't seen the odds of a Bomber's victory yet. Are they favored and by how much? On a funny note, I was at my local American Legion Post Saturday night for Karaoke and they had an NFL preseason game on the TV. A friend asked who I was rooting for this year and I said the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He got this puzzled look on his face because he had never heard of the team or a city called Winnipeg. I know, I know. The things I have to put up with down here with these Americans. You Canadians have it so easy above the border (ha ha). Anyway, I think I need to go online and order a Bomber's shirt to wear around my small town and to Karaoke. Of course, with the crowd I hang out with, they'll ask me to sing "I'm a Lumberjack" again. I am doing some additional homework to make sure I completely understand your posts. You know....offence vs offense, favourite vs favorite, etc etc. Is there a translator online from Canadian to American? (ha ha) Yes, I feel as if I better put the (ha ha) in just to make sure there are no misunderstandings. I am joking. Please feel free to give me a hard time as well. I have a very thick skin and I doubt you will hurt my feelings. I am also watching some old videos to become more accustomed with my new team, my new league and my new Canadian friends on this forum. I think I found the perfect videos online....see below. Well, I have run, eh. I will keep my fingers crossed for our Bombers. I have a good feeling this week about a victory but, honestly what the BLEEP do I know being this far south? After all, I am closer to the Mexican border than I am to the Canadian (only 244 miles to Juarez....the "fun" city of Mexico, right?) (ha ha). GO BOMBERS!!!!

  3. While Justin does indeed appear to love a selfie, this pic was taken as a result of a misunderstanding. Apparently Justin said "I want to have a picture taken with football players in the worst way." His aids immediately called Saskatchewan.

  5. My family and I made our annual pilgrimage from Saskatchewan to Mecca– I mean IGF, to watch the Bombers. I can't say enough about how much fun we have each year. The atmosphere in the stadium was great on Friday and I think the players contribute to that by treating the fans really well. Before the game Streveller stood at the south end and played catch with a number of kids in the stands, Anthony Gaitor gave my son a signed hat that he will treasure and wear proudly. Of course, there were also a number of guys signing autographs and taking pictures with fans after the game. The first guy out there to meet the fans with a big smile on his face was Shayne Gauthier– same as when we visited last year. That the players and the organization go the extra mile makes our trip a highlight of our summer. More importantly it makes it easier to raise Bomber fans here in Saskatchewan. And winning doesn't hurt either!

  6. C'mon 17to85, leave DougR alone. He, like the rest of us come here to get away from the everyday **** of real life. You can go discuss this in US Politics. I also would like to suggest anyone who wants to talk about the NFL protests also do it over there.

  7. Bennett has played the outside gunner position last several games...so he is fully immersed into the ST's Interesting to note what Farhan Larlji mentioned that DC around the league have to tone back their rushes on teams and defense as Winnipeg uses so may variations and has different fake options on kicks, that they have to play if safe to avaoid getting burned..as opposed to rushing hard and trying for a block or pressuring the kicker

  8. Ya if anyone truly believes this post had any integrity and attempt to have a meaningful conversation... you're deluding yourself. This post was created solely to try and worm in and start a dialogue before he turned it into a spewfest. zero doubt in my mind and I cant believe after all these seasons and all these attempts...people still fall for it.

  9. My optimism stems..... from stepping back a bit and just looking at the overall picture...... The club is run far more professionally, Miller may not be a cuddly sort, but I see some big differences, in terms of communication, game experience, et al.....and he lets the GM, GM. We have a GM who really understands the CFL, in terms of drafting and adding Canadian depth whenever possible, has also added legit quarterbacks, and beefed up the scouting department, incrementally. We have a coach that most players really want to play for....who conducts himself in an evenhanded adult manner, and expects the same from players. We are attracting the right kind of people, overall. We have a dedicated all-Canadian management group - guys who eat, drink, and sleep CFL football, and want success in this league more than anything. Bottom line: For the first time in ions, we have real stability moving forward. Winnipeg has now become a place, where players want to come. A strong culture is being constructed here - doing the right things on and off the field - featuring a complete lack of.... or tolerance of...twitter fiends, clubhouse malcontents, me-me attitudes and undisciplined actions on the field. When you add the points 3rd and 1 made about coaching and player leadership......a pretty bright picture ahead.

  10. Notable: Lankford got all 1st team reps in Dressler's spot; Leggett didn't practise - Fenner took SAM reps; Alexander didn't practise - Cooper took reps in his Field HB spot; Harris was helmutless - most of his reps taken by LaFrance; Bennet was one of the up-backs on punt team Dressler didn't have a noticeable injury, (i.e. walking fine etc.) Alexander was walking gingerly on his right leg that had a tensor/wrap Legget and Harris seem fine...just maintenance Starting line-ups look to be the same as last week (keep in mind this is only the first practise of the week)...big proviso being whether or not Alexander is good to go...if he isn't...looks like Cooper comes on...probably in his spot with the DI's being Wild, Fenner, Roh and Medlock again.

  11. Thats some top notch rider trolling there. I haven't dealt with this Migs guy as long as others have but even i can see that this is yet another Migs trolling attempt.

  12. Hey if you like being patronized you keep on doing you, but it's disrespectful and I won't tolerate it. I don't need green filth coming here telling me the bombers are a good team, I already know they are. Idiot.

  15. Well I don't support the protests. I have friends in law enforcement and I know the real story. The protests are just a side show and ridiculous. They are losing fans and frankly the quality of play has dropped significantly anyway. I'm fine with leaving it behind for good. But, that's me.

  16. You should know that the CFL is totally chill about protests that take place during the nation anthem. I suspect that a lot of American-born CFL players hold the same beliefs as NFL players -- when the police brutality protests were at their height last fall, there were a number of news articles asking the opinion of CFL players and my memory is that they were pretty sympathetic to the protesters...

  17. Dude.. You are a tool. Another Fan from the league starts a thread about how good of a team he thinks we have and that its showing itself to be a rising star and as much as it hurts him to say he thinks they are one of the better (best) teams in the league. You don't know if he ever bought into the Jones shows. For rider fans you bash your should stop and look in the mirror and see you are the bomber equivalent here. Maybe take a break for the forum for a bit. He didn't say one thing negative about our team or even bring up anything about his team and you go ******* mental on him Thanks for derailing a perfectly fine thread. Idiot.

  19. The Riders were a **** team for ages, like complete tire fire, but they had a small die hard fan base, then when thing started to improve for the team the national media started a great big circle jerk about how super duper awesome Rider fans were (and the fans at the time were). This led to everyone and their dog jumping on the bandwagon pretending to be a life long die hard Rider fan because it was a way to validate their shitty choice of living in Saskatchewan. Nothing more annoying than bandwagon jumpers pretending to be huge fans. I have respect for the actual die hard Rider fans, but the people who hopped on the bandwagon when it was cool have made the fans of that team absolutely insufferable. The fact that TSN is fully on board with the Rider circle jerk is even more nauseating. Go read the pre-season prognostications, tons of people completely writing off the Bombers despite their record over the past few seasons while expecting big things from the Riders who have been and continue to be a **** team over the same span. They are awful people and not even real CFL fans. Most of the posters on this site are not only Bomber fans but CFL fans in general, Rider fans are just trash that deserves to be treated as such.

  23. saying a team is elite for past cup wins isn't indicative of elite or not...Calgary and Winnipeg have won the most games the last 2 years...neither won a cup...so with that logic neither is elite Never liked the "elite" title on a team or player as it is baseless if you ask me based on championships..i look at it in the here and now and over a course of a season...so you lose the last game of the year and dont hoist a trophy...it's dissapointing...but to say a 14-4 team..or even a 12-6 team isn't elite is foolish

  25. Went to Faloneys testimonial dinner in 1999. He was already diagnosed with terminal cancer so no one expected him to be there. At the end one his sons was presumably giving last speech of the night. His other son then wheels him out from off stage. His appearance was absolutely shocking. Place was utterly silent. He spoke a few words. Died about two mos later. I was 20 something and didn't give a monkeys rear end about much but that stayed with me

  28. Oh come off it. The protests are totally fine, only people who have something against them are the folks who are upset that black folk dare to speak out about how they are treated.

  29. Speaks to the culture there. No buy in. When you let something as stupid as that get under your skin both as player and coach. There are big time issues.

  30. Sense that Bighill likes the overall setup, his role, and the coach here. I expect to see a 2 yr extension, later this season.

  31. That was easily the most cringe-worthy move the Riders tried to push onto the rest of Canada. They had no idea that everyone was laughing at them. I'm glad that nonsense lasted 2 years then disappeared when they finally realized how ridiculous it was. No one in Toronto even knows what Saskatchewan is for god's sake.

  32. They must resign Bighill. At this point he's close to irreplaceable.

  33. My gut tells me that he gets extended prior to the play-offs...or shortly after..they won't let it linger

  35. Heh guys, a Rider fan came on here and complimented us. So leave it at that. I think as long as we have Kyle Walters running the show we should be alright. This thread is a nice break from what I have to listen to here in SK (Rod Peterson 620 radio Regina). Yesterday he was saying how the Riders are ahead of the Bombers at this stage of their rebuild 2 1/2 years into the Jones era. (I'm not sure what our record was 2 1/2 years into O Shea's time then, but I wouldn't be bragging if I were him). Then he went on to insult the Eskimos saying "how many cups have you won since Jones left"? He constantly brags that the Riders should have got to the Cup last year (but leaves out the fact they were 4th in west and beat Hamilton with a drugged up RB). All that to say that I welcome a comment from a Rider fan who is in touch with reality.

  42. Agreed...and even tho I can't stand Rod penison and what he has to say...and his totaly Pro-Rider drivel and anti-Bomber B.S....I do have to agree with what he said and that the word around the league is that Winnipeg is a destination that players want to go to based on how they are treated here by management and by the enjoyment the players have playing for each other..all the hard work and ups and downs in what Walter's and Oshea have been trying to established has grown roots now and the benefits are being reeped

  43. I can't believe anyone thinks the Bombers should go after this narcissistic man-child. His steaming pile of baggage more than outweighs whatever talent he brings to the table. What a dumpster fire in the rectangle province. Good on Jones using Carter as a scapegoat; all the green fanboys drink it up while turning a blind eye to his atrocious management skills. What a time to be alive.

  44. You can tell when you are disscussing a football topic with adults. As well as the juvenile. You know the kind. They don’t have anything of consiquence to add. So they would rather call names. The type of fan that brings a bad name to their fan group. When a person grows up they understand how much more they can learn by being respectful. I just finished complimenting the Winnipeg Bluebombers. Who by the way haven’t won anything at this point. I wrote in a respectful manner. Your reply to this discussion that started with respect and a compliment is to name call. I sure hope other Bomber don’t reply in this manner. In fact I hope they speak up for what is right.

  45. Perhaps an overlooked statistic for Justin Medlock and the special teams’ prowess? Medlock’s net punting average and his gross punting average were exactly the same - 44.7, including a right-foot boot. How often does that happen? Good placement and coverage. Well done boys..

  46. Ottawa looked good due to Montreal d being not so good..and being on the field for 20 mins of the second half We wont have that problem and if our front 7 plays as they do..and should.. Harris will wilt like a flower..he cant handle the pressure and getting smacked around..I can actually see this being a win by at least 2 majors to be honest
