Good grief... it's all up like RF in here. Holy smokes Guys, take a step back from the edge. There are issues with this team and I totally understand people's frustrations, but let's not go full riderfans....7 points -
That’s 100% one of those catches that looks way easier than it is to actually make. He had two guys beat and now all of a sudden, the throw is short and he’s essentially boxed out by two cover guys and has turned into a defender and people are saying it’s more on Adams. Kinda gets me confused to say the least. Adams did his job on that play, he got wide f’n open for a free TD if the ball is on the mark. Nichols didn’t deliver.7 points

You know what? Better the Lapo offense struggle in august than the fall. The D has improved a lot, i don't care what the numbers say, they were good enough to win on Saturday with any help from the offence. It will get figured out, every team has a poor stretch at some point, beat the riders and all is well again.4 points -

Moe had one bad game out of our 10...he's hardly a concern whatsoever, and hasn't lost a step..was a total defensive scheme collapse all around...If anything the use and play of Loffler is hurting this team more than anything...he seems so slow...and stiff....big hits be dammned (way things are going league wise anyway a big hit will probably get flagged) I think he needs to be replaced for a game or two and put in the more athletic Conteh or Morgan and let them play a traditional safety role, because as it is now, he is offer minimum help to the DB's coverage wise and in open space with a receiver running after the catch he almost looks comical and lost out there...not to mention looking like he is plodding through deep wet sand4 points

That ball wasn't in a position where Adams had any reasonable chance to catch it. You're confusing contested catches where the ball is put into a spot where a receiver can gain body position and win the ball. I've never seen a receiver catch a ball like that one, stop dead and fight through two defenders moving toward the ball. Adams has made a ton of brutal drops this season. That wasn't one of them.3 points -
No one is disputing the ball was under thrown at the worst possible time. Yes, there were two defenders closing, but Adams knew the ball was coming and even though it got through somehow, he got his hands on it. He’s got to squeeze it. But don’t try to push aside the fact that many receivers are put in that position on jump balls and well-positioned defenders..and they make the catch. That’s what I’m talking about.3 points

Give me a break... we hosted a playoff game last year. The team has been competitive, but has taken large steps backwards this year. ... which pass from Nichols to Darvin are you calling a perfect throw, the one he shorted into double coverage that Darvin had beat clean?3 points -
Re-watching the second half... if Darvin Adams squeezes that pass its a different game Bombers are still matching up with Calgary really well - five mins left in the third... Nichols avoids a sack and then gets hit as he's throwing... this one and the next our OL - especially Foketi - gets slapped around... Calgary pinned deep Then its the huge play to Jordan - Leggett beat - then the TD to Michel - Randle beat... but there is NO safety help over the top - Loffler playing as a glorified LB again... Winnipeg responds with a decent drive - but Calgary D playing really well... probably should have called a late hit on Junior Turner... Calgary pinned deep... then big play by Michel - DBs with a TWENTY YARD CUSHION... wtf Bombers actually stop the Stamps but refs give them a ridiculously favourable spot... Leggett with a huge knockdown - but its a 12 play drive - D on the field for a long time Twist on Foketi and Chungh... Nichols sacked... Collapse ensues. BLM to Jorden in QUADRUPLE COVERAGE... I didn't even know that existed... Michel drops a TD - Alexander in chase... no safety help Winnipeg OL getting destroyed... 2:30 left and Bombers are still in it... offence is moving - Thompkins needs to make a hard cut and move upfield not just step out Foketi DESTROYS our shot at a TD Osh calls a squib kick instead of onside - stupid gimmick plays again... Fenner in for Leggett - he can't jam Jorden... Loffler overruns the play... game over. BRAIN DEAD pass by Nichols... he had guys open - NO HUDDLE IS NOT WORKING ANYMORE...2 points
-
You don't have to have a cannon for an arm to be successful in the CFL- examples abound. You don't even have to be mobile, but you do have to be smart, be able to read defences quickly and command the respect of your teammates. I think that Nichols should start against Sask but he has to understand that his leash is short- a quarter perhaps two and if he is not producing, the hook has to come out.2 points
-
Honestly forget the 500 yards and 250 for Jorden, look at how long the D kept that game in reach despite the offense doing jack squat after the first quarter. No defense is going to come out looking good on the stats sheet with that kind of useless offense. If Lankford hadn't taken that ball to the house the game would have been over a lot sooner.2 points

Lets look at it in the Riders mindset last few years...play for 4th and cross...hahaha...so we can realistically go 3 and 5 in our remaining games and slide on over in a worst case scenario....have half the season to get things right and get to play-offs hot. I think tho..this may have been a galvanizing moment and we actually go on a run now...we shall see...and not being a homer here...but I don't see the Riders as being a threat to overtake us...as the season progresses their bubble will burst and defense will falter..they have some good guys playing well in their system that are starters...but zip for back-ups and once all the knicks and dings and the inevitable injury to a starter happens..it goes down hill2 points -

Once again, here’s the transcript (from Ed Tait) of what Nichols actually said as opposed to what people are saying he said: Irving: “Their defence is the best in the league statistically. What did they do today, Matt? Did they do anything that you weren’t expecting?” Nichols: “No. Nothing we weren’t expecting. They just do their jobs very well. When they’re in zone and I’m going through four and five reads and finding no one open, they’re doing a good job. There were times where I felt like we were moving the ball well against them, we hit some stuff. We just kept kind of stalling out, were just a little short and we didn’t do a good enough job of getting some chunk plays as an offence which, in my opinion, is not an offence in the CFL. If you don’t have two or three of those in a game that flip the field, you don’t have a good chance of winning. We just need to find a way to make some of those bigger plays. It felt like we were right there all game, we just didn’t quite make that one play to change the game.”2 points -

Good for Moe for owning his poor play. That’s veteran leadership. And I agree, in the grand scheme of Bomber woes, he’s not the problem. Better than Nichols passive aggressive shots at his receivers. Have to agree with Stegall on that one – they’re not complaining publicly about the one-hoppers and overthrows that they’re getting from Nichols. Loffler has been an enigma. What happened to him? Wonky knees finally giving out? Because as a safety you need to either cover, hit or be a ball hawk – he’s doing none. He’s Cauchy Muamba level now. Somebody hop in a time machine and get me Paul Bennett.2 points -

I read up on what he went through. Crazy. He ejected from his jet and landed in a lake in the city. He struggled to free himself after both legs and one of his arms was broken. The citizens set upon him and bayoneted him in the groin and beat him. He was tossed in a cell and wasnt given medical treatment for weeks. The reason his arms seemed odd was because of how they healed, he was not able to lift his arms over his head. He was offered a release because his dad was an Admiral but he refused because there were other POW's that had been in captivity longer. He was beaten again, for refusing. Imagine being in that situation and refusing release. I hate to be political but compare that to a clown who gets multiple deferments for bogus bone spurs.2 points -

oh man. Sargent Taco Shop. It's been like two weeks since I was there and I'm still dreaming of it every time I burp. 3 tacos for 8 bucks. Run by a Mexican family so it's pretty legit. There's a bunch of options for meat but I just stuck with beef which ended up being shaved slices of super tender steak. A few varieties of homemade salsas that were all really good. There was also a bunch of side dishes I need to try. Small place so either expect to wait to sit at one of the few tables or get take out. I shall definitely return.2 points

I don't see anything wrong with being worked up. It means the fanbase has passion for the team. That we care. I'll take that over, "Hey Chill, man". Look at some of the teams & their attendance. Toronto 12,000. Montreal 16,000. Vancouver 19,000. How much apathy do other teams have in their cities with their fans? Not in Winnipeg. Can it be a tough place to play? Yes. That's good.2 points -

They do, but have you seen Matt Nichols performance? He's STUNK, over/under thrown everybody. Sits in the pocket for FAR too long, throws for 4 yards on 2nd down when we need 13. Just to name a few. Then he has the audacity to complain that the fans are being mean to him and that his receivers aren't getting open. No duh Matt, if they were open all the time you would probably throw deep more and continue to only miss by 10 yards.2 points -

Yeah, but Bob is pretty much an angry sounding broken record on this stuff who has always focused primarily on pandering to Blue brass. I mean, how many times can you say, no excuse me, yell (as Bob routinely does): "Well, who does that?" whenever someone has the temerity to suggest that it might be time to try something different than trotting out Nichols, again and again, until the game is out of reach. Yes, the D ended up giving up a lot of yards today. But only after the O s*** the bed again and again and again. The D held a very powerful offense to 12 points until well into the 3rd quarter. What was the time of possession? Yardage stats? It has to have hugely favoured the Stamps...you're only going to hold BLM and Dave D. in check for so long. Your bloody O has to do something. So, to Bob's question: who does that? Well, Wally Buono does that. Chris Jones does that. Rick Campbell does that. All have "done that" (i.e. pulled the starter) in the recent past and all have won Grey Cups. What's the definition of insanity, according to Einstein? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. That's what we did with Nichols again today. Putting Streveler in would qualify as something different. I mean, what's Bob's solution? Answer: Just keep defending Blue brass' stubborn stupidity? Just keep endlessly repeating "who does that?" I mean, how's that philosophy working out for us?2 points -
just watched the "highlights" lol, on youtube. debating which side of the ball lost the game is like choosing between dog poo and cat poo for lunch. Nichols brohmed one pass. threw 2 int directly to guys on the other team. On the one the lineman picked off, there were two other receivers that look open. That he seems to look towards, and then go to Harris. The pass to Adams was clearly underthrown, Adams had two guys beat, had to slow down, they both caught up to him, and both defenders swatted the ball is it came to him. Not likely anybody could make that catch. blaming him for that is really bad if Nichols did so. Going to have some apologizing to do. Not the biggest fan of Bo Levi, but when he has players open, usually he can hit them. sad to say, it looks like the pass defence is once again a complete shambles. four guys covering one receiver, three guys surrounding a receiver with the ball, yet all three unable to tackle him (shades of defences past), defenders running away from a receiver, leaving him uncovered, defenders in trail position. Assuming these coaches know what they're doing, their not explaining it very well to their players. We've had dozens of pass defenders through here. same result every season. I suspect that the guys that we have that have been really good, best days are behind them, wasted on bullshit defensive teams. just an ugly mess. I'm surprised Calgary didn't score more points. Cause there was basically nothing stopping them. Two beat downs in a row. Right now, this team is awful. At least with Streveler, there is a chance he'll run, and they have to respect that. As it is, the Wpg offence is actually probably pretty easy to draw a D game plan for. Not putting in Streveler is mystifying.1 point
-
Both sides of the ball have under performed against the better teams. But Richie Hall's defense have been under performers for a number of years. Every so often the offense will show up but a Richie Hall defense never shows up IMHO. And before you respond with the Calgary first half I think the Stamps were just sleep walking through the first half until they woke up at half time. Calgary made adjustments at the half. The Bomber offense and defense never makes any adjustments at half time. Bottom line IMHO - Richie Hall needs to be shown the door at the end of the year - and if this does not happen maybe MOS has overstayed his welcome in the Peg.1 point

Just stupid that we got two threads popped up right now talking about Nichols and Lapolice while this defense was a freaking dumpster fire all night long. That unit and its stupid coordinator are 100℅ responsible for this loss because while Nichols does need to pick his game up a little, if we gotta score 45 points consistently to beat teams like this, we're in big trouble. I'm going to put the blame for this loss right where it belongs.1 point
