I have no problems with Ripper's posts to say the least - Me thinks you are being a little too sensitive. If you choose to say off Riderfans.com that is your decision. I post over there all the time and have never had any problems. Give it a rest - it is only a sports game and sports fans website. You should have been around in the old TotalCFL website days if you wanted to see some fur fly! 😁😁

  3. Well he would alleviate our return issues thats for sure...but how do we roster him when we can't even roster a Flanders if we wanted
    4 points
  4. But he did play well for over two years prior to this skid. It's not unreasonable for a coach to let his starter try to play himself out of it.

But O'Shea does sit guys who aren't playing well. Case in point Poop Johnson got taken out. People bitched about lankford over Washington but we saw that Washington in the last game wasn't ready. They sent Bowman packing for Thompkins already too. So I really don't see this refuses to sit out his favourites if there is a better option at back up guy some people like to say is there. I think it's just easy for fans to say "well play the backup! That will fix everything!"

VERY preliminary but working on a Kenny Omega return in October. I reluctantly feel I should raise ticket prices as his last appearance for us was a gong show (way too many people for too few tickets). It would be a Friday night. I've thought of booking a larger venue but Im not sure we have the time to do it justice but I have talked about a "big show" with Kenny & The Bucks in Winnipeg...

If we had a real passing attack......with the Harris running .....we could of killed the Riders with play action passes. Too many bad 2nd halves from this O.

iT'S NOT LIKE THE sask defense shut our run down tho...Harris ran for 55 yards on 9 carries...Demski had a 5 yard run and Lafrance..tho he fumbled which was a huge turnover had 1 yard...also Strev had a 1 yard sneek...so 62 yards rushing in a half isn't really being shut down..we went away from it, and from the play action and to give the receivers that half second of indecision on the DB's as to if it run or pass..thats what stalled us out I think...Now pretty sure that is on LAPO...Not Nichols as I highly doubt he was going rogue and changing the play calls....and if he is...and still not producing, that alone is cause to be yanked as we can't be in an Inmates running the Asylum situation...thats when you kn ow your season is done

We should dress Flanders. Even if there’s no specific role for him It would be nice to spell Harris and have a legit backup on the roster who doesn’t fumble he game away when he has to come in for a series. Hopefully once Gray is here that’s more of a possibility.

Not the best video evidence, but you can plainly see the ball is thrown too high. If thrown at pad level, I think he has it. By the way, there is a Rider on Washington, but he shows as a blur in this snapshot. Still, the ball is thrown to the right space..just too high. If not tipped, it lands in that open space. But I do agree that a receiver’s natural instinct is to make a play on that ball. As an aside, Stanley Bryant is the man responsible for knocking Elam out of bounds, some 50 yards downfield. That’s effort!

Conflicting reports. Its true he got a clause where he can return to Europe rather than play for the Moose but I've seen people say in interviews Vesa has said he is excited to turn pro whether its the Jets or the Moose. Maybe it was something his agent fought for so if he was a bubble guy, Jets would be more likely to keep him up. Hopefully he's that damn good.

Connor Scheifele Wheeler Ehlers Roslovic Laine Perreault Little Vesalainen Copp Lowry Tanev Morrissey Trouba Niku Buff Kulikov Myers I think it could be any of Niku, Chiarot, Morrow, or Poolman in the spot I put Niku. That's the most interesting position battle imo. I guess Vesalainen too, if the Jets aren't comfortable putting him in the NHL immediately. Otherwise, I think the roster is pretty much set.

Its possible we have Kenny in October by himself. Shoot me a Private Message if I dont send you one first and I'll hook you guys up if you're interested and available in checking it out. I always love dragging some lapsed fans back into it...even for one night! Kenny live on this level is a lot of fun (does some hilarious antics and still all his super athletic stuff)

I think Omega would be the draw that might entice my friends. However, these are guys that used to be huge fans, went to lots of local indie promos here and watched wrestling on TV. They never got into ECW or WCW (and all the non-WWE promotions) like I did. I loved those promotions to provide something different and unique. But, we're older now, with young fams, and don't watch wrestling. I follow it mostly through the odd word of mouth and read the odd article through this thread. This thread is my main source of wrestling news. Getting them out means that they're trading off something else and we're going to Headstones in November. Like I said, it's tough to get out. I would like to go because I know it would be great and seeing the top performing wrestler in the world would be interesting. Helps that he's a local. The Bucks would be a bonus.

  35. My sense was Laurent Brossoit was signed to be Helle's back-up. Apparently, he's very well thought of around the league as maybe a potential late bloomer, is training partners with Helle and does the same off-season work-out program. It seemed to be a supportive measure for Helle, rather then signing someone to compete with him. Interestingly, the NHL salary of Brossoit & Comrie is the same &$650,000. But Comrie's is a two-way deal and Brossoit's is only a one way deal. And in a way, its not a knock on Comrie...I'd imagine the Jets would prefer Comrie start for the Moose and get lots of playing time rather then watch Helle play 60 games. They might call Comrie up during the season for a stretch (especially if Brossoit starts some games and isnt good but maybe even if he is, just to Comrie some NHL experience). Comrie is also Waiver Exempt. I dont think Brossoit is. So surely, Comrie starts the season with the Moose. Comrie's AHL salary is $125,000 but he has a minimum guaranteed salary of $175,000 so he'll do alright (and it doesnt cost the Jets anything more to give him an NHL game or two). I think their intent is Comrie plays big minutes for the Moose and Brossoit backs up his buddy Helle.

  36. QFT Many here are in denial - and I call them wanna-be fans... Even with the current evidence before them, there are lots of comments about how the team is loaded with talent and Walters and OShea are CFL legends who have done nothing but bring perfection to the team... Just fire Hall and replace Nichols and all will be well. That is the easy answer because it is a doable solution that does not violate the basic wanna-be tenant that the team is mostly excellent with just a small tweak and they are somehow on the cusp of a massive Bomber dynasty. LOL Will it work? I highly doubt so! There is nothing wrong with this positive outlook, even with such an excessive viewpoint. It boils down to an extreme case of wishful thinking. However, many of the wanna-be's get upset to the point of irrationality when they are faced with reality which deviates from their wishful model. They lash out childishly at anyone who points out a picture that does not match their mental model of perfection of this current incarnation of the team. Bullying here and terse comments are pervasive. To protest it, that is why I have adopted the Mike Kelly persona and will always point out the other side of the argument that the wanna-be's make.

It still astounds me that we ran for so many yards, yet had such an inept passing game, stuff like that is unheard of when the ground game is chugging along... only time that ever happens is in bad weather games usually.

    Restaurant/food thread

Good, now if they could just get rid of The Beachcomber, The Pancake house, and The Old Spaghetti Factory (and figure out a way to get better ventilation at Fergie's). Those places all serve terrible food compared to some of the awesome places that are set up inside the market, and I feel bad for unsuspecting tourists who end up there. Would be nice if they could expand The Common experience to somewhere with an outdoor seating area as well.

    2018 Matt Nichols

The dumbest thing we can do is to hand the keys over to a 1st year raw kid like Streveler. Even if Nichols keeps playing average/poorly, you at best split their play time. Use Streveler as a change of pace unless he totally outplays Nichols, then leave him in. Let's not ruin another QB with our **** receivers and OC.

    Matt Nichols -BOO!!!!!!!

@ good hcs have replacements on staff, this is the gospel right here. Though maybe its more like great coaches rather then good. But coaching lineages at any level or side of the border are a huge deal. Great coaches breed great coaches. And little else does. And yeah the coaches every team wants are the type who have the guys who are next to be scooped for HC jobs elsewhere, and they arent threatened by it. Thats how they continually attract the best young talent in position coaches to develop.

  45. I think any coach who bends to the wishes of the fans, like us, is not a good coach. With that said any coach who cannot see that their offense has stalled, continues to stall in the second half of what the last 3 games, and does absolutely nothing about it other than try to justify it through stats, also is not a good coach. So either way you look at it MOS is not really a good coach and frankly doubt he will ever bring a Grey Cup to Winnipeg.

  48. Pretty depressing actually reading through this thread. Couple of things come to mind: If it's working, why change it?? First half we roll the pocket and run the ball hard. And we move the ball. Why would we change ?? I completely agree we need to see more of Streveler. Keep him in after he does the second or third down sneak, and change the look of the offence. Hmmm, I just said why would we change things. I'm not advocating for a full qb change, just a different look for a series and then back to Nicholls. Personally we should've killed Regina, they scored 14 points off of 2 plays that simply shouldn't happen. This week in our barn I think we kick their ass.

Haha, he'll be getting 7 figures USD to be an OC in NCAA or NFL for the next 20 years. Actually kind of funny all the QB's we dressed in the 07 Grey Cup have already gone on to pretty good coaching careers. Kingsbury, Dinwiddie is coaching BLM with the Stamps, Zac Taylor is the QB coach for the LA Rams and is actually Mike Sherman's son in-law. Dinwiddie would probably be top of my list to be our next OC. Didn't think he was awful calling plays for Montreal, had awful QB's for sure. Has worked with Dickenson for 3 seasons now, if anything rubs off there we'd be laughing. I can't see MOS getting fired. I think both co-ordinators are due for replacement. 3 seasons is a pretty long stretch for coordinators.
