Neufeld has been just fine at guard...actually more than fine...the fact he strugged a bit at Tackle is really insignificant, as technically he is an injury replacement there and 3rd in line for that spot3 points

Crossover Standings after Week 13
BigBlueFanatic and 2 others reacted to JuranBoldenRules for a topic
Those, along with turnovers, are the important stats. Points obviously are what counts at the end of the day, but 7 points on a 27 yard drive after big D stop and Demski return count the same as 7 scored on a 90 yard drive that takes 6 minutes. The impact on the game is very different. How many of those drives have we had? We score on short fields....sometimes. If we lose field position, we get killed. If our offense and special teams are dominant we can have a game against a good team and still lose in a disappointing fashion as our offense both gives points away and leaves a bunch on the field with turnovers and inefficiency, sometimes on the same drive. Our offense has been next to useless all season. They can't even consistently put together 2-3 first downs a possession, at least against anyone but the Argos and Als.3 points -

Its nice you think that way but your opinions are not facts. No evidence he didn't truly believe in either Lapo or Hall. No evidence that MOS can attract a quality assistant. No evidence that any want to work for him.3 points -

MOS chose to hire Etch and Marcel. He chose to hire Lapo and Hall. MOS wears his big boy pants. Choices are on him. I have no confidence he would do any better with a third go around picking an OC and DC.3 points -

Hell, everybody liked Loffler better.....when he was a visible, play making part of the D....doling out big hits, picking off passes etc. But watching him this year - just not making any plays, and his lack of range is problematic, in terms of over the top help for anybody, back there. Like watching a ball rolling right off the table.2 points

A few on this board have just descended into complaining for the sake of complaining... Walters has his faults but stockpiling CDN receiving talent is a total non-issue... how is that bad? We're carrying four on the roster - two of which will likely end up as our main SBs - Wolitarsky and Demski for years to come... and two with seemingly very high ceilings2 points
-
yeah...and at 5-3 we did as well....by all accounts both here and in media...things are cyclical and can turn in an instant. I wouldn't say Mass is a great HC..nor is Benevidies a great DC....Their defense was just as suspect, if not more than ours I think...and still is....our defense struggles lately are due more to fatigue and having to do too much for a lagging offence. You get this team's Ol-line back intact, and run an offence similar to the first 3rd of the season and things don't seem so dire..2 points

So can we start talking about firing MOS yet?
deepsixemtoboyd and one other reacted to TBURGESS for a topic
I don't care about salvaging Nichols season or career. I care about salvaging the Bombers season. The $400K has already been spent. It's now about is next year's $450K worth it considering how Nichols has been playing. If you want to give Streveler the best chance at success, you start him against Montreal, a team that he's already done well against. Boost his confidence and get him some more valuable game reps. If he's losing, then you can put Nichols back in to be the savior. He'd love that role and it would get the fans back on his side.2 points -

Crossover Standings after Week 13

What? We beat Calgary last year in the last week of the season. We also pushed them to the limit in the game earlier that year too. Man, I follow football to be entertained, not to be a grouch and depressed. If I wanted to do that I'd watch the news or be a Jets fan. As it stands, the Bombers are in control of their own destiny and are on the bye week. Besides, other teams have had equally lengthy Grey Cup droughts: Calgary - 23 years (1948 - 1971) Edmonton - 19 years (1956 - 1975) Saskatchewan - 56 years (Inception, 1910 - 1966) BC - 21 years (1964 - 1985) Winnipeg - 28 years (current) Toronto - 31 years (1952 - 1983) Hamilton - 19 years (1967 - 1986) Montreal - 25 years (1977 to 2002) So yes, our current drought isn't ideal, but it is not completely out of the norm.2 points -

My first question is will the Bombers start Streveler against Montreal? My second question is what is MOS and Walters doing to right the ship? My third question is based on the answer to the second question: why are you doing what you are doing? It breaks down to management philosophy ... are we sticking to what we recruited in training camp? It sure seems that way ... I can't recall one newbie since camp (other than maybe replacing some Canadian special teamers) Hamilton have made trades and just signed Chad Owens ... BC has brought in more receivers, Toronto switched QBs and is rehabing Carter, Chris Jones doesn't sit on his hands ... top teams might be able to stand pat but those of us with losing records need to fix what is broken ... we have a long record of being passive even before MOS came to town ... are we being delusional by standing pat? In the very least can we develop Streveler into a starter and the leader needed to win a Grey Cup, finally ... winning Cups are not a statistical probability, they have to be soundly earned Cutting Bond was bad judgment as was not replacing Loffler and Ritchie Hall We are not even tinkering in our downward spiral ... even a couple of adjustments earlier may have led to a winning record I am very close to giving up on this club and focusing on The New England Patriots, perhaps the best coached team in the world1 point

Maybe our reveivers aren't being put in position to use their strengths.. Washington is apparently a burner type.. Perhaps we have the talent but our OC is forcing square pegs in to round holes. I wonder how good Duke or Any Edmonton receiver would be if they were given 5 yard passes and asked to make 4 guys miss to get the extra 5. Or if Reilly didnt hit them in stride and they literally stood there waiting for the ball to arrive.1 point -

This thread makes me sad... people suggesting Taman was good for scouting Canadian talent? Really? I understand the team is stinking it up... but our Canadian talent is probably the best in the league and we are suggesting firing Walters? How about instead of doing that we hire someone with good connections and/or a database not on a napkin and things will be ok. As much as we make fun of Murphy / Kelly era at least Murphy had some good imports (receivers) that could play right away in a shitty confusing offense.1 point -

To find a QB... None of these threads are posted if Nichols has been average even.. Hes been quite below average tho. Thats the bottom line in the CFL.. Your team basically is as good as your QB. Ours has been bad.1 point

Wrestling
JCon reacted to The Unknown Poster for a topic
Our regular venue is Doubles Bar and thats where Kenny has worked for us for the past 6 years. The last time was available was last November and it was a gong show because I didnt raise ticket prices at all and we had way more interest than space. So, a potential october show with Kenny is likely to be Doubles (with a higher ticket price). My dream scenario of a Kenny/Bucks show, which would take several months of planning, I have two leading ideas for venues. One is an "easier" environment for organizing and holds about 700+. The other would be the UofM, giving us 2000 and up for seating but requires more organizing, more money out for staging, seating, staffing etc. Of course, the revenue is also higher and potentially could be a revenue/attendance level that would be historic for indy wrestling here. I really need to sit down with Kenny and discuss that whole thing though. But...Im hoping to find out by next week if Kenny will be here for us in October. I have a hold on October 19th as a potential date.1 point -

I'd put the blame squarely on MLL for this. The policy of non-intervention might sound nice when its dealing with occasional issues, but as soon as the policy became known, these punks were simply walking in, loading up on booze while everyone watched, and walked out. When I worked for Lotteries years ago, doing security at a casino, we were told the same thing. Under no circumstances were we to get involved in any incidents. Our job was to observe. I thought it was ridiculous. Nothing ever happens at the casino's...but there was one fight while I worked. From my years of bouncing, instinct takes over, I ran from an adjoining post to break it up. Brought one person out and handed him to the slack-jawed security, went back and grabbed the other and brought him out to find the first guy had not been secured and they began fighting again, which I also broke up while a bunch of security, including the investigator, watched and were amazed. I dont blame the guards, many of whom are minimum wage or barely above. They dont have training. They might have fancy kevlar vests and radios, but have never dealt with an incident in their lives. The companies hiring them to be visible deterrents dont want liability. But as WPS says in this story, there is a certain onus on the business to do their own security. Stop hiring crappy minimum wage security companies. Hire the right people. Train your people. Support your people.1 point -

He's been starting at guard all season. Why wouldn't Geoff Gray come up here now that he's cleared NFL waivers & try to work himself into the starting lineup? If any team needs upgrades at multiple positions it's us yet what does Walters do like he always does? Nothing. Unlike other teams.1 point -

My point was that he had a lousy resume for a GM and was not really successful in his prior jobs. His resume for building our Canadians is great but honestly to an extent a little overated here. Half the team is americans and his scouting here is not good enough.1 point -
How can you guys say Loffler should have been replaced? You guys loved Loffler until this season. I told you he was crap last year and he was defended like crazy. You can't be on both sides of that.
