  1. That decision was questionable and was the object of what O’Shea said he’d do again. They gambled because of the stats on those kind of gambles. I believe the Bombers were 25 out of 26 on 3rd down gambles. The gamble wasn’t really the problem. The play selection or execution did matter. Or maybe BC actually defended it well. BUT, in the previous example, don’t forget, the yardage needed was 4 yards on 3rd down, SO, which decision was more correct? If I remember correctly, the example you cited was not called by O’Shea, but was a Medlock decision..

  2.  27 TDs - 44% returns: Of Saskatchewan's 27 total TDs thus far, 15 have come on offence with 12 as returns of 4 different types. That represents 44% of their team total. That is by far the highest % in all of CFL history:  CFL-wide defensive TD / Pick 6's: There have been 27 defensive touchdowns already this season and that is on pace for 41. Here is the recent trend - 2018: 41 TD (pace) 2017: 35 TD 2016: 24 TD. Interception return TDs have been prominent with 15 already this season and 1 in every 7 brought back for a TD. BL Mitchell has a 0.38% Of his ints returned for a TD Kevin Glenn is at 0.41%. Matt Nichols is at .0.31% behind R Ray’s 0.35% 👁‍🗨 The leader? Drew Willy 0.52%. (Between 2013-2018) Jeremiah Masoli and Mike Reilly ate the best in this category.  4 Kick Return TDs on September 15th - a CFL record: Prior to last weekend there had been only 8 kick return TDs in 2018. Last Saturday, 4 kicks were returned for a TD on that day alone - the most kick returns on any one day in all of CFL history and matched only once before. The only other time the CFL had 4 in one day was on July 8, 2005.  First Play K/O Return TD: The Riders' Marcus Thigpen returned the opening kickoff for a TD last week taking just 0:13 to register the game's first scoring play. It was just the 7th time in CFL history that the opening kickoff was returned for a touchdown: 👁‍🗨 Out of those 7 times, a Bomber was involved in 3  8 SSK Def. TD / 12 Return TDs: Each week continues to see a growing number of touchdowns scored by the Riders' defence this year. They now have a club record 8 Def. scores and have at least one in 7 of their 11 games. The CFL record is 11 defensive TDs set by BC in 1987. The Riders also returned 2 kicks last week for scores taking their total to 12 total return TDs.  8 punt return TDs: Calgary returned yet another punt for a TD last week and now have 3 this season. However that continues their two-year record of taking punts back for scores. They have 8 punt return TDs across 2017-18, one short of the most in CFL history over a two-year span.  Cross-over potential: Through Week #14 this remains high to occur for a record third year in a row. All 5 West Division teams are ahead of the #3 spot in the East at 3-8 and now by at least two wins. Calgary playoff potential: With a loss/tie by Toronto this week the Stampeders will clinch a playoff spot for the 14th consecutive season. That would tie Ottawa (1956-69) for the 6th-longest streak in league history and set a new Calgary club record.  Lewis Ward 97%: Ward began his career with a 3-for-4 FG performance in the season opener and since then has not missed a FG attempt (though he did miss one conversion). Ward is now 33-for-34 97% with a streak of 30 makes in a row, the longest streak ever made by a 1st Year player and has included 11 makes from 40+ yards.  Mike Reilly 55 TD Pace: Has accounted for 37 touchdowns this year, 26 passing and 11 rushing. The CFL record for rushing TDs by a Quarterback is 14 by Doug Flutie (1991 BC) followed by Kerry Joseph at 13 (2007) and Reilly himself at 12 last year. The combined pass/rush record is dominated by Flutie who has the four best years - 1994: 56 (48/8), 1993: 55 (44/11), 52 twice. Reilly is on pace for 55 combined TDs this year and 16 rushing TDs.

  4. Would be nice to get Poop back in the rotation. Who's Cornflakes did he crap in? Okpalaugo has to get his act together. No sacks in 2 months and not even a defensive stat in the last couple games. Not good,

  8. Pretty stiff comments. SNL generally sucks, Ill give him that. But to suggest it was downhill after he left...yeah right. To me the glory years were Dana Carvey, Dennis Miller, Nora Dunn, Chris Farley, Franken, Hartman, Jan Hooks, Jackson...basically the late 80's into the 90's. Plus, Chase always seems batshit crazy

Jones definitely has the drawing power for anyone who has watched the UFC casual or hardcore. Compared to Brock not even close to being as popular for a non UFC fan. Lesnar definitely sells more PPVs then he will.

I just wonder, after all this time without a decent, relevant fight, if Jones carries the cache he used to. Brock stays in the public eye due to his participation in the WWE. He also is far more of a crossover star, who may be recognizable to those who do not follow UFC or WWE. Does Jones mean anything outside the UFC? Did he gain much crossover attention? If Jones can fight at a high level again, those would be an interesting series of fights. It's a shame that Jones is even allowed to fight again, at least so soon.

  20. I feel Lowry may have a breakout season this year. Imo he has shown tremendous development. I was not a big fan at thestart but have warmed to him considerably in terms of what he brings to this team.

  21. But Wentz , Allen, Darnold, Rosen or Goff never would have been here anyway. It's apparent that some of them are pro ready. Any rookies we get up here aren't. As far as making a difference, would Jonathan Jennings have made an NFL roster or Pipkin. McLeod Bethel-Thompson was cut at least a half dozen times. The guys we get for the most part cycled out of the NFL, weren't drafted or had personal issues.

I feel the exact same way. So you can probably imagine how excited I was when the 2008 MTV movie awards was going on, Mike Myers was hosting and we got the first Wayne's World Sketch in 14 years, and what's amazing is that everyone in that audience was excited abou that

  23. Silverback that all makes sense, our young qbs are virtually unknown. so much hype for RG3, for instance. also, money, NFL salary cap, a young qb is a lot less money, so they have money to put into other positions, if the young player can do ok, or better.

    UFC

I think they sure think he does. And he probably does. Star power carries weight and he has it. Its the reason they throw so much money at Brock when he hasnt looked that impressive for awhile and why he'd walk back in and get a title shot. Its why they signed CM Punk who was 37 or whatever with no fight experience...cause he has star power. Cormier doesnt want Jones before Brock. And Cormier said he'd retire at 40 (next March). But if UFC can do Cormier/Brock and then Cormier/Jones and then Brock/Jones, thats three massive PPV's over the next year. Not to mention Jones' return fight against whomever.

  26. A QB facing Sam Hurl ... really made me laugh. Thanks for that. Interesting question about why rookie QB's seem to start more in the NFL than the CFL. There's other things to consider as well. One - most rookie NFL QB's who start are high draft picks. There's a hype and selling to the fan base aspect that just doesn't exist when you bring in some UDFA to the CFL as a QB. I think NFL teams draft them to be the face of the franchise, and jump on that train quickly. CFL rookie QB's come in as unknowns with zero hype. Related to that, I think NFL teams who do that are more apt to live through the bad games that they know are going to happen with a rookie. If Sam Darnold is your guy, you basically tell the fan base to be patient. Hope he turns into a top tier QB. Third thing is coaching. The QB coaches and OC's are just better than their CFL counterparts at prepping a rookie QB I'd guess.

  37. When I was a teen back in the late 60's & early 70's my neighbour across the street from me on Clare Avenue in Riverview was a huge Bomber fan. Except he had seen it all from the beginning. He used to tell me stories about the pioneers of the Blue Bombers & other teams. Guys like Fritzie Hansen, Russ Rebholz, Keith Spaith, George Trafton, D i c k Huffman, Bob Fritz, George Druxman, Jack Jacobs, Tom Casey, Neil Armstrong, Dave Skrien, Jim Spavital ( As a player. He was an hellacious fullback), Leo Lewis, Ernie Pitts, Cornell Piper, Ken Ploen, Bud Grant & others. I truly believe that I got my love of the Bombers from him. He was such a cool guy to talk to. Told me about players & games that I had never heard of as a 14 year old. He was the most influential person I met when it came to becoming a Blue Bomber fan. I'd see him cutting his grass or doing yard work. I'd wander over & pretty soon we'd be talking football for an hour or more. RIP Mr. McGibney. Thanks for teaching the Bomber legacy to a very impressionable young fan who was all ears. RIP Fritz Hansen. A well deserved honour.

  39. Found the new blood in Tait's article. DB Jacob Firlotte: (6-3, 216, Queen’s) was selected 58th overall in the 2018 CFL Draft by the Bombers after spending four seasons with the Gaels. Firlotte suited up for 30 games at Queen’s, recording 49 solo tackles and adding three interceptions. He also got a look at weak-side linebacker during training camp. WR/KR Charles Nelson: (5-8, 170, Oregon) was also in training camp this spring. Nelson played four seasons for the Ducks, catching 124 passes for 1,555 yards and 14 touchdowns. Nelson also had 2,424 kick return yards and two kick return touchdowns during his time at Oregon. In 2014, Nelson received the Gordon E. Wilson Award for being Oregon’s top special teams standout and was given 1st-Team Pac-12 All-Conference honours in 2015. WR Kenny Lawler: (6-2, 203, University of California) was selected in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, spending time on their practice squad in 2016 and 2017. Lawler played three seasons with the California Golden Bears, catching 143 passes for 1706 yards and 27 touchdowns. LB Kache Palacio: (6-1, 237, Washington State) recorded 146 total tackles, 26 tackles for a loss and 17 sacks during his career with the Cougars, putting him 10th on the school’s all-time sacks list. In 2016, Palacio signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent. He also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, playing in one NFL game in 2017. DB Boobie Hobbs: (5-10, 180, University of Utah) spent three seasons with the Utes, playing in 50 games and making 47 total tackles. In 2016, Hobbs led the NCAA in total punt returns and was third overall in the Pac-12 with 274 punt return yards.

  40. My point is, Sask has the season series. At this point the Bombers need to beat out the Lions..... Can that be done, I think so......but the need to put up wins. Simple. Right now 5 win's isn't going to come close. Realistic number is 8-10 or 9-9.......Do you see the bombers going 3-3 or 4-2 the remaining of the season? I do not.

  45. I only listened to it when I'd drive the gf to her office job DT (she's not there anymore). And it wasnt a lot of music. But it was routinely funny and always positive. I remember when Ace first saw the Two Girls One Cup reaction videos on youtube and ofcourse, you didnt know what they were reacting to and he spent all morning wondering it could be...hahahahaha And the next day he was like yeah...so...dont watch it. Now I listen to 1290 in the morning and if Im with the GF, Sirius radio. The jeep I bought last year was the first car with satellite radio AND could stream my phone so sometimes Ill throw on a podcast too. But Ace is good peeps and a clear opposite to Wheeler's nonsense.
