Nichols finally hits Petermann...good effort to run it to the 2 Streveler sneaks in....Bombers 10-0 Bomber import receivers....only effective as decoys, at this point..... Miller lays down the smack, on kick coverage.... Yet another 2 and out by Edmonton... Reilly now looking flustered ..... Miller comes in and slides out of the backfield to catch and run for 22. Bomber secondary's best game - Fogg, Sayles, and Alexander really got it done The inside story....was the pregame abduction of Richie Hall....by aliens. ...as the guy who took his place... dialed up a whole bunch of looks ..and big, big pressure Offense was nothing special.....but the D was.... Gin was nothing special ....but the consumption was...

  2. Our D has barely given up a TD drive from Labour Day on. This didn't come out of nowhere.

  3. Why is it unnecessary? Pretty damn necessary if the guy catches the ball instead of dropping it. DB's don't have time to make sure on a bang bang play if the catch was made, coming up to make the hit/tackle.

  4. Did no one watch most of the game? Offence sputtering? They put up points. drove the field...and reminder, they did so usually from the opponents side of the field. Hard to get those nice stats when you only need 40 yards for a touchdown. Offence did its job. Defence was lights out. Special teams held it down. How anyone can complain after a win like is beyond me.

  5. HH from me to Peterman. What an effort! Took three Eskimos to take him down. Matt said before the game that Peterman reminded him of Rick House. House and Poplawski together again!

  6. Almost like MOS threw Hall into a closet and locked it , just before game time. My vivid imagination....

  7. DOMINANT DEFENCE! I can’t remember a better game plan from our much maligned DC Richie Hall. Pure Gold (and Blue, of course)

  8. They are .500 now so it doesn't count. 😉

  9. Hey guys, we beat a team that was above .500.

  10. I think what happened is Bighill confronted Hall and told him that Biggie is now in charge of the D.

  11. I’m not really going to worry about stats in a Bomber victory. Mediocre stats in a Bomber victory is still better than fantastic stats in a Bomber loss..

  12. The biggest problem with the scheme has been the predictability of the blitzes. He’s always sending JSK and Bighill straight ahead. In recent weeks they’ve been sending the SAM more and some DB’s, running more 30 fronts with Wild in there on passing downs, looping guys and making it tough for QBs to scramble out of the pocket. The whole game is being unpredictable and not letting QBs get comfortable.

  13. The defence played the best game that I can remember in a long time. But I'm not as hard on the offence as some of you are. I'm going to leave stats out of the conversation and just look at game management. Yes Lapo called a conservative and yes boring game. He was more interested in ball control and moving the ball downfield. But what impressed me was in the 4th quarter we needed to pound the ball and kill the clock. There was one series where we had success running the ball and converting on 2nd down. But most importantly we killed over 6 minutes off the clock. Unfortunately we turned the ball over on the turnover deep in esks territory. Nichols threw the ball low to minimize the chance of the turnover but the defender just made a great play. Not a great game by the offence but not as bad as many of you are making it out to be.

  14. The Bombers made the ‘Duke’ look like a commoner tonight..

  15. If the season ended today we'd play Sask in the West Semi and have the 2nd and 3rd overall picks in the 2019 Draft.

  16. Full marks to the Bomber D for the win tonight biggest W of the year

  17. Both their efforts for extra yards was a thing of beauty. That is football and why I love this game. Instead of going down after a 6 yard gain, getting up and spinning the ball like you just caught the game winning TD, fight for more yards, get back to the huddle and demand the ball. These two, with more grooming, gives us great hope for the future.

  20. For sure. You the ******* tho. 30 to 3 dude. D was impressive. The fact you made it seem like Edmonton just sucked because no reason says all anyone needs to know about you. Enjoy your night. You likely wont tho cuz the D dominated but here you are being salty.

  22. Manziel looks like he's starting to figure the CFL game out. He's starting to not out think himself, being comfortable & not being an automaton. He was letting his athletic ability make plays.

  23. The morning after..with coffee... - An odd stat...Edmonton did not kickoff once during the game.. - Bombers only 3 penalties for 20 yards.. - Winnipeg now leads the league in interceptions with 17 - Winnipeg will be in 3rd overall in points allowed after the weekend, but only 5th in yards per game, almost 600 yards total behind the 7-7 Eskimos... - 23.79.. the average points allowed per game by the Bombers, good for 3rd in the league. - containment with pressure was the formula for the Bomber D last night, and that’s how you beat Reilly. - Edmonton has now lost 4 out of their last 5 - Mike Reilly’s longest pass was 26 yards - nice reward for Mike Miller’s stellar ST’s play...1 catch for 22 yards.. - Craig Roh - now has 7 sacks

  24. I can’t believe they gave up 3 points to Edmonton yesterday. And to boot, the defence only scored 1 TD on Fogg’s pick 6.

  25. Maybe the best defensive performance by the team under this regime. Absolutely dominant. Fogg had a monster game.

  28. We also have a quarterback who can't pass with any confidence so it's making most of our receivers pretty useless.

  29. I know our D has been good lately but I didn't fully think we had this in the bag until 9 minutes left in the game. I figured Mike Reilly would pull off some miracle and our D wouldn't be able to keep it up all game. Boy was I wrong. This was a defensive gem.

  30. Why is it sad that our Canadian receivers were the best on the field? I'd rather have Wolitarsky and Petermann's effort tonight than Williams.

  33. Last 4 games- 250 yards passing against 205 yards passing against 234 yards passing against 192 yards passing against With lots of garbage time yards in the last two games. All 4 would have been easy wins with a functional offense. Last 2 were wins.

  34. Fogg is one of the greatest defensive players of this generation at turning the ball over. He's in the conversation for Bombers MODP. Nevis had a huge game. Took on many blocks that made space for LB's blitzing.

  35. I’m so darn impressed with that defence tonight. My god. If this is what they have been saving up to do, we could win the rest of our games from the D alone. Two years ago the blue d was a turnover machine. Tonight’s blitz machine stymied the schmoes to 3 points. That’s eye opening. Blitzes, turnovers, incredibly hard hits, that’s football that’s fun to watch.

  38. 1. Bighill - Bighill was reading the field like crazy - this allowed Hall to channel Mark Nelson... ha 2. Sayles - big plays on ST, lock down boundary - that hit reminded me of Hefney 3. Fogg - swaggerville game HH - Wolitarsky and Peterman - any fans under-estimating the long-term payoff of two potential NI all-stars is nuts...

  40. William's got crushed reaching backwards for a horrible pass... William's being hurt is on the QB.. I don't fault the DB at all for laying him out..

  42. D has been amazing. Oh look its Kevin Glenns first reps this season. Turns out nobody takes out their starters unless forced via injury. Oh snap. Sit down KG.

  43. We shouldn’t. That’s clean regardless of the team. Happens all the time. They only call that if the guy leads with his helmet or hits the other guy in the helmet.

  44. The cost of IGF was reported as 210 million dollars. The annual Health budget for Manitoba in 2016 was 6.497 billion dollars. So that means that the cost of the stadium was less than three and a half percent of the overall health budget for ONE YEAR. Do you really think that the overall quality of health care in Manitoba would have been impacted in any meaningful way, even for that one year if all that money had been directed, one time to the health portfolio? Now factor in the benefit of having a stadium of that caliber available to those in Winnipeg and to those who might be considering Winnipeg as their home. If you don't want to make people think you are a second rate city, and attempt to attract your share of the best and brightest, you don't skimp on amenities like a quality stadium or a lack of entertainment options like pro sports. Sure it sounds superficial, but people often are.

  45. Nah, there is no approach. Don't try and deflect from your error. What I said is your statement the team is currently on a losing skid is not accurate. They just won, thereby ending the losing skid.

  46. I'll take 17-3 at the half in Edmonton. Defence and special teams look outstanding. Nichols still a little shaky but he's playing the role of game manager and at this point I think that's about the best we can expect.
