It’s the life of a sports fan. Especially for those who didn’t witness the good years. But how about those who are old enough to remember our first 20+ years without winning? Before the internet and fan forums. Between the 60’s and 80’s. Before the SMS where a team like the Eskimos could “buy” players. We had good teams but nowhere near the money that the Eskimos had. 24 Grey Cup appearances.. 10 wins And now? We own the Frustration Cup. 27 years. Do I get weary and down? Oh yes. Does my enthusiasm always come back? Yep. I’m a Bomber fan.7 points

I can't speak for anyone else but for me, the issue has been the raising of expectations over the past couple of years. We really did seem like we were on an upwards trajectory and that finally, we'd be seeing this team put it all together. I still have hopes, but I think that it's fair to say that at this moment, the team is not where most of us expected them to be at this stage of the season. Yes, things have looked better these past few games, but I know that my confidence in the team is not what it was in June/July. At the same time, I'm really beginning to get the feeling that O'Shea is a good coach, but he's not quite good enough. I'm not sure he's the guy to get us to the next level, but the idea of tearing it all down just depresses me. Not as much as living in Regina would, of course, but depressing never the less. At the same time, I know that there are more than a few "fans" on this board who are clearly loving the current state of the team because it gives them the chance to come on here and rail about all the things that are wrong, and how they are just so darned clever that they could see how much this team sucks before anyone else did. There are some regular "downers" on the board, and one or two contrarians (ok, really, just one), but there are also a few posters that you don't often see here when things are going good, but boy howdy, do they love to post when things are going tough. To me, that's why it's getting harder and harder to come one here.5 points -

I understand that there are people who post to annoy. I don't think being consistently critical of the team means that's what someone is doing. Have a look at the other forum, many , at this point probably most of the posts are critical of the Bombers. A much bigger problem, is when people don't care enough to comment. There is an ignore button.5 points -

I don't think I'm fed up with any one particular regime. I'm just exhausted with getting amped up every year and then watching some variation of the same old **** happening. This year likely isn't going to be our year either and that makes it however many in a row it is and I just find myself being more excited to watch the Jets and less excited to watch the Bombers. I just find it hard to get excited. I used to refresh spam the hell out of my Twitter feed the day before every game so that I could come post the depth chart on here and we could all discuss it, now I find myself not even bothering to look. I don't get excited when we win, I don't get frustrated when we lose, because it all seems like it's just going to be an end result of the same thing it's been for the last 20-whatever years. I find myself uninspired by a Matt Nichols-led team and I find myself having difficulties getting excited about how we seem to be wasting our hometown star's last years on a roster that isn't built to be anything other than a first-round exit. We don't seem to find any new players to be excited about - it doesn't have to be the next Milt or Charlie, but when's the last time we found even a Chris Matthews? We don't seem to be interested or pursuant enough to make improvements mid-season, while every team around us does. I like the fact that we've got some new pieces like Wolitarsky, Petermann or sure, even a guy like Sayles who seem to have some great potential, but they're not the kind of players that are going to be franchise cornerstones. We seem to excel at finding complimentary pieces and trying to turn them into pillars of our team and it just bores me to watch, to be honest. I watch exciting new players come into the league every year ... Kamar, D. Daniels, Devier Posey, Wilder, Duke, etc etc and it never seems to be Winnipeg. I love watching a guy like JSK play, but for new blood, it just isn't enough. I still went to Labour Day this year, still had a great time and I still cheer for the Blue without fail, but I just don't find myself being as invested as I once was. I used to never miss a game and now I don't even get bummed out when I can't go (which is more often than not these days) and that kind of indifference surprises me but I don't see it changing any time soon the way this team is going. I'd probably be more invested if we actually played our best QB (no I'm not going to get into the argument about it, it's just my opinion) but that's a whole other story as well. Jets season starts in two days and I can honestly see myself just losing track of much to do with the CFL at that point. Sucks, but it is what it is.4 points -

Ive seen guys like him a million times while working at the bar. The arrogant drunk with a chip on his shoulder who turns any minor disagreement into a full fledged brawl cause he knows he's protected (either by his friends, his status, or his parents). To be honest, from what we know, my take on this guy is, he's got a drinking problem (or did)...not an alcoholic per se, but his problem seems to be that when he drank, he drank a lot and he was an angry, mean, chip-on-his-shoulder drunk. Probably the result of low self-esteem...possibly from trying to live up to the standards of his family and classmates. Explains why he was supposedly a virgin until well into his 20's but would grope and assault women when drunk, primarily women who were younger than him or in a state of intoxication where they could not stand up to him. Some time in his 20's, he changed. Or rather, he stopped drinking as much. His social circle changed to where he was surrounded by more responsible and mature people. He probably began to realize the potential he had and was cognizant to avoid screwing it up. He became more self-righteous and entitled ans he began embracing the idea he was destined for greatness. There are likely more stories of him being a belligerent drunk in his 20's and 30's but we havent heard many...likely because of the people who would witness this (people more in his political and social elite class). His performance in the Senate show him to still be belligerent, entitled, easy to anger. Lying is okay for him because he's special and if his past behaviors costs him a Supreme Court seat, its the denial of destiny. So lying is justified. When he was an investigator for Ken Starr looking into Bill Clinton, his arrogance and self-righteousness was on full display as he wanted to uncover every single last indiscretion or dishonest statement. Because to him, Clinton didnt deserve his position. Kav probably thought it was his destiny to be there at that time to bring Clinton down. Years later, its still his destiny. When he says what goes around comes around, its both a defense (ie. Clinton's seeking revenge) and a threat (Ill get my revenge). When he openly admits liking beer, he repeatedly said "beer" because its rather mundane. He's hitting you over the head with the idea that he just drinks beer like every other red blooded American. Sounds a lot better than "I like hard booze and I like pouring that hard booze into the drinks of unsuspecting teenage girls". In his mind, "its just a few beers" is a catch-all for everything he drank and every time he got wasted. And here's the thing, *most* of what I wrote, I dont see as disqualifying. In a perfect world, a super-partisan hard right (or left) Judge should not be agreeable to the Senate. But whatever...to the victor goes the spoils. being a drunken frat boy in High School and College? Meh, who cares. Sexual assault in high school? I do think that disqualifies someone from being on the SCOTUS. But in a he said/she said, its tough. But here's the problem...HE thinks being a drunk frat boy is a problem, hence his lies. HE thinks sexual assault/harassment etc is a problem, hence his lies. And its those lies, not 36 years ago, but TODAY that disqualify him. Its his temperament and partisanship TODAY that disqualifies him. He didnt want an FBI probe because he knew he lied about mundane things, things he should not have lied about. And now he's caught. And he's FULLY in the pockets of the White House and GOP Senators who are his only hope of being confirmed. He made the bed he's lying in. And it has very little to do with events 36 years ago.4 points -

I just find it kind of hard to *really* care about the Bombers anymore, to be honest. Most of it is that I have a new job and I’m never around, but the way this team is managed is just so uninspiring these days. We are loyal to a fault and it’s a major flaw that is costing us games at this point. There are no measurable consequences for playing poorly, unless you’re a young American (the exact kind of player you should offer up a longer leash to) like Poop who has been stapled to the bench. We sign veterans to heavy money deals and when they don’t fit our scheme or play the role that was envisioned, instead of cutting bait (see: Purifoy, Reed, etc), we just hang onto them and ruin our cap flexibility. We don’t make the moves necessary for midseason talent additions, we just deploy the PR guys even though our scouting is so poor that it forces us to rely on adding so many veterans in the off-season. We’ve now missed on Posey and Matthews, who are two guys who quite likely would’ve been huge boosts to our team and why? To keep playing mediocre guys like Darvin who is having a total down year? I just don’t really care anymore. It’s too difficult.4 points -

Congratulations you've come to the realization that football isn't life or death and life goes on with or without the Bombers, in the end it's just sports entertainment, and following the team is little more than a pastime or a hobby. I grew up a fanatic Bomber and Jets fan but I had at least a 10 year spell of college, career development and chasing various women when following sports closely or taking time out to watch sports or television was not a practical use of time, it only gets worse when you start a family. In time you'll probably settle down, find some spare time and migrate back to what is enjoyable for you. Good luck on your journey.3 points -

No, it's that both numbers are ridiculous. Not surprising coming from Rod Black but still ridiculous. I've noticed the difference between watching the two leagues too. You watch an NFL game and they actually talk about what is going on in the game. Seems so simple. You watch a CFL game, particularly one called by Rod Black, and you hear a commentator who fixates on one or two players and just won't budge. It's really frustrating, especially when they just talk about whatever while the play is going on.2 points -

Winning means a championship. I'll say this about Cal Murphy. He had a reputation of being crotchety & cheap but if he saw someone out there that he thought could help the Bombers he signed them. He wasn't afraid to push veterans to be better. If they felt uncomfortable or pressured that was okay. And we won Grey Cups. That was the bottom line for Murph. There was no country club atmosphere or entitlement with him.2 points -

Esks Mitchell gets wide open, down on sideline....Reilly misses him... Sayles comes in clean and blocks first punt of the game..... Nichols sacked.....Blue settle for Medlock's 3.... Camera reveals that MOS... is not wearing shorts... Winnipeg media should initiate an investigation... Sayles....nice hit on shuttle pass...... Wolt Man takes middle pass for 30...getting the Blue out of a hole... The Duke of Edmonton catches pass, but fumbles....Alexander recovers... Nichols looking a bit tentative under pressure...he is sacked again... Bighill hits Reilly's arm on 2nd down....killing a Moes drive Adams can't squeeze 2nd pass for Blue.... Bomber O sputtering right now.... Reilly misses a pair of passes.....Esks O sputtering, as well... Some ugly pass pro, and slow decision making by Nichols...another sack. Nichols finally hits Petermann...good effort to run it to the 2 Streveler sneaks in....Bombers 10-0 Bomber import receivers....only effective as decoys, at this point..... Miller lays down the smack, on kick coverage.... Yet another 2 and out by Edmonton... Reilly now looking flustered ..... Miller comes in and slides out of the backfield to catch and run for 22. Medlock misses 44 yd FG attempt. Bighill and Bomber DT's....really running things in the middle now... Gator comes off edge...hits Reilly...ball goes right to Loffler downfield.... ....heads up lateral to Fogg brings it down deep into Esks territory.... Dressler sweeps it to the 5....then Harris takes the pitch untouched for the TD... Sayles gets in another good hit downfield.... Randle breaks up pass in endzone....Esks settle for FG. 17-3 halftime 2nd half starts like 1st...Bighill flushes out Reilly, who gets plowed by Santos-Knox..... Gets worse....Reilly throws late on square out....Fogg steps in front of it.... ....and cruises 70 yds down the sideline for easy Bomber TD. 24-3. Eskimos doing a lot of holding and throwing blocks early....to no avail.... Crazy amount of stunts and 6 man fronts from Hall tonight..... Reilly flushed out again....Alexander hits arm from behind..... ... with Fogg on the spot again, to recover the fumble.....his big nite continues.... Harris getting stuffed in the run game....Blue getting conservative on the play calls... Medlock makes it 27-3. 20 points off of 5 Eskimo turnovers.... Bomber D getting big pressure on virtually every play...and forcing errant throws.... Reilly now gets buried in the backfield by 3 Bombers......tough night indeed... Bombers now doing their own version of Play Safe....on O. We have around 160 yds in offense....and a 24 point lead.. D continuing to push the Esks around physically.....Reilly hits the dirt, yet again... Bombers finally and actually throw the ball down field to Adams for 30.... Harris starting to pound away at the tired Esk D-line for back to back first downs..... But Lapo gets cute....Dressler loses 5 on that ole sweep. Nichols is pressured....tries to squeeze it in tight....and is picked off at the Esk 5 yd line. Sayles pops the Duke again....this time he stays down, then leaves the game... Reilly is sacked by Nevis, on 3rd and 10....for turnover number 6.... ...and looking in serious discomfort at the Edmonton bench...... Harris does some more effective clock grinding....Medlock makes it 30-3 O' Brian comes in...and appropriately throws last play pick to Alexander. Bomber secondary's best game - Fogg, Sayles, and Alexander really got it done The inside story....was the pregame abduction of Richie Hall....by aliens. ...as the guy who took his place... dialed up a whole bunch of looks ..and big, big pressure Offense was nothing special.....but the D was.... Gin was nothing special ....but the consumption was...1 point

That's the real difference, other teams got hit hard by injuries and blew through their PR guys. I don't mind rewarding a guy like Thompkins/Washington for sitting on the PR all year making squat with some game time cheques. That's just who Walters/MOS are, they are straight up guys. Maybe they could be a little more cut throat but I don't think they want the organization to be seen in that light.1 point

Let me be perfectly clear on where I stand. I am in pretty much agreement with TB's posts. Most of what I hear here and I want to be absolutely clear I include you "WBBFanWest" in that group - is that most of what I hear is all of the "We Could Have - We Should have" etc. etc. The Bombers beat Edmonton - great win! They are a 500 club with an uphill battle and I have my doubts they will win more than 1 maybe 2 more games. They may or may not make it in the playoffs as a cross over. They are just not that good and that includes from the top to the bottom and I fully expect changes in 2018 regardless of what happens for the balance of the year. You have your opinion and I happen to align my thinking more closely with TB's.1 point

The details of the stadium deal were shall we say less than ideal. However, the former government did get the Bombers a new stadium. Imagine if they had only agreed to limited finding...say $25 - $50 million to do a reasonably modest patch job on the old stadium (as Brodbeck suggested). That would have bought the team 10 - 15 years at most as parts of the stadium were already having significant integrity issues - something a cheap patch job would not fully alleviate. Unlikely the new PC government would have given the Bombers much needed funds to construct a new stadium given current austerity measures...and before you know it the Bombers would be having another stadium crisis in the 2020s.1 point -

he also hit Petterman with a nice one, and Darvin on a nice fake out route.... but connecting on 3 of these plays a game to me isn't enough to say he's 100% our guy moving forward, and the job is his no questions asked. I have no doubt that this is the way it's going to be the rest of the season. But if the mediocre play continues, and it's not an open competition for the starting job next season, I question the coaching's ability to assess productive QB play. If Matt helps win us a Grey Cup, sure... all will be forgotten and there's no way he loses his starting spot next year. But if the team does well down here down the stretch and it's in spite of strong QB play... what's the saying 'if you're not continually looking to improve, you're going to get left behind' ??1 point -

In a game that we dominated from start to finish, is it any wonder that they didn't get fancy on offence? Steady, one turnover, and dominated time of possession.
