  2. I can see it now. O’Shea coverts Lankford to punter so he can justify keeping him on the roster another 12 years.

  5. Storytime: Of similar hilariousness, I remember two uncles at Christmas arguing about what would happen if a pingpong ball was put into a microwave (days before google); Uncle A: Due to the manufacturing process, the ping pong ball contents would explode due to them being somewhat pressurized. Uncle B: The ball would puncture, then the contents inside the ball would cause it to collapse in upon itself, sort of imploding. After about 30 minutes of arguing, they of course decided to put it to the test. The result was actually neither, it just smoldered into a little shell of its' former self and was nowhere near as exciting as either posited theory. Also, the smell was absolutely rancid... I remember my aunt being so ticked because it ruined her microwave. tldr; don't microwave a ping pong ball.

  8. Streveler - Great running. Good passing. Lankford - Better kicker than receiver or returner Sayles - Another good game from the rookie HH: Washington for the 80 yard TD

  9. That wasn’t a horse collar tackle. CFL refs have no idea how to make that call properly.

  10. Meaningless to Maas? Sure, that's why he's dressing his starters who will play all day. A big eff you to the backups on the Esks by their HC. He's coaching to save his job.

  19. Look I believe Trestman is a very good coach, but he's not a miracle worker. And don't bring up Buono, he has won cups with shitty quarterbacks, lest we forget 2001 when Marcus ******* Crandell beat the Bombers. Never mind that Wally has brought in a **** load of great qbs to this league where as Trestman has come in with the reputation as a quarterback whisperer and only had success with already established great qbs. Even Lapo has developed more at qb than Trestman. So like I said, good coach, but pretty over rated at this point.

  20. I do wonder about Trestman and Reilly though.... Trestman excelled with Calvillo and Ray, two guys who didn't run around and improvise a lot and were able to be more methodical. So much of Reilly has been chucking it deep on broken plays or just going deep in general. Does he have the ability to play a different way? I just find that Trestman is getting pretty over rated because he's won some Grey Cups with already great quarterbacks. Hell the Argos with Ray weren't even that good a team, just got a big win in the big game.

  21. Trestman would definitely get more out of Reilly and Co. - provided there are some OL changes.

  22. Based on what? Which QB has Trestman turned into a star in the CFL? He's had success with Calvillo and Ray, two already HOF worthy QBs before Trestman ever got his hands on them.

  28. Dominated most of the game.... Lemieux alone was the main reason we lost today. This definitely hurts his chances of seeing game time. His crap was completely unnecessary to boot since we were flying high most of the game.

  30. They could make the game more appealing to locals in Mexico if the O-linemen could wave red flags and the D-linemen could stick bandelliras into the opposing quarterbacks. And every time the offence makes a TD, they get to swill some worm-laden teqilla.

  36. don't you just hate Jones, Murphy & the Riders? Total dipshit move by that organization. Why do you think they signed him? No way he plays on that line in Saskabush. They want to pick his brain about our defensive systems. So much for going home & signing with the AAFL.

  38. 👁‍🗨 The Bombers are unique in the fact that they have scored the most points offensively and yet, they’re only 5th in net offence. Same thing for defence. They are 2nd in points allowed and yet, they’re 5th in net offence allowed.. The Bombers are #1 in turnover ratio, penalties, fumble recoveries and penalty yardage.. Game #88 Notes & Trends - Winnipeg at Edmonton:  6-3 Start - No Playoff Spot: The Eskimos began this season at 5-2 and then were 6-3 through 9 games and in 2nd place having won 4 out of 5. But since then have gone 2-6 to miss the playoffs. In the 18-game season era of the CFL, 57 different teams have started their season at 6-3 - only two of those did not go on to make the playoffs. Winnipeg 2014 6-3, then 1-8 and now Edmonton.  Winnipeg at Saskatchewan? - Not since 1975: the Bombers last played a playoff game in Regina 43 years at Taylor Field on November 8, 1975. Saskatchewan defeated Winnipeg 42-24 that day behind Ron Lancaster's 338 passing yards and on the strength of a 35-8 half-time lead. What is interesting is that not a single Active CFL player was even born then.  Winnipeg at Calgary? - Not since 1978: It has been almost as long since the Bombers last played a playoff game in Calgary - that being Regina 40 years ago - at McMahon Stadium on November 8, 1978. Calgary defeated Winnipeg 38-4 that day on the strength that time of a 17-4 half-time lead.  Coach O'Shea 10+ wins: will be making his 90 sideline appearance. He is 45-44. That includes a 33-20 .623 mark since 2016 with win totals of 11, 12 & 10 games. The last Winnipeg coaches to post 3 straight 10+ win seasons were Dave Ritchie (2001-2003) and Cal Murphy (1984-1986).  5 wins in a row: The Bombers come in with 5 consecutive wins for the first time since Jul-Aug 2017. They last won 6 in a row in 2016 so wins streak with Matt Nichols at QB are not new.  Chris Streveler: Started the first 3 games this season and depending on Coach O'Shea's plans may get his 4th this week. Streveler went 1-2 as a starter but made a big mark early by throwing 3 TD passes in his first two career games. Tom Wilkinson in 1969 is the only other QB to throw at least 3 TD passes in each of his first two career starts.  Turnovers Forced / +57 Since 2016: Winnipeg leads the CFL with 48 Takeaways while Edmonton is at #6 with 35. It is widely known that forcing Turnovers is a Bombers' specialty and the most telling number is their T/O Ratio. From 2012 to 2015, Winnipeg was -60 but since 2016 are +57 (2016: #1 at +29, 2017: #2 at +14, 2018: #1 at +14).  Harris 295 touches: Last year Harris rushed 189 times and caught 105 passes for 294 total touches. This year the balance has shifted to a career-high 237 runs and just 58 catches. But ... that adds to a career-high 295 touches. Harris is only 5 catches away from reaching 500 career receptions.  Whyte & Medlock: In a year where the league-wide FG% is an all-time high 88%, these two have a combined 89% mark missing only 9 of 83 attempts. A 6-FG game would likely give Medlock the 2018 scoring title.  Mike Reilly 13 TDs: Reilly needs one TD to tie the CFL single-season record for most Touchdowns in a season by a QB.  Mike Reilly 29 TD Passes: Reilly needs one TD pass to become the 3rd Edmonton QB to throw for 30+ in consecutive seasons. (Tracy Ham 1989-1992, Warren Moon 1981-82)  Medlock: Is up to 61 consecutive 32-yd converts, the 2nd-longest streak since the distance was moved in 2015 (82 by Medlock).  Duke Williams: Has 1,534 yards and appears to have Edmonton locked in with the CFL's leading receiver for the 3rd year in a row.  C.J. Gable: Needs 49 yards to reach 1,000 for the first time. No Edmonton rusher has reached 1,000 rushing yards since 2011.  J.C. Sherritt: Needs 9 tackles to reach 100 for the 2nd time in his career.

  39. Strange. Not sure why the Riders would need a D lineman. They already have the greatest self-proclaimed D line in the league.

    Season Finale At Edmonton

A win in a meaningless game won't mean anything. This game changer moniker also only really matters to some fans. The coaches will do what they think is best to win in the playoffs. It would be foolish to play Nichols this whole game and risk injury in a meaningless game for the playoffs.

    1 point
  42. Not really, you were implying that it would be injuries holding the Riders back. The reason the Riders are held back is because they don't have an offense. You don't win Grey Cups without one facet of a team. Your team is smoke and mirrors, just accept that fact and it will be a lot less painful when the Bombers kick your ass in the playoffs and send you all back to your hovels to cry all winter long.

  45. tho..same can be said about Evans on Reilly..targeted high...then used all his force to scoop and slam him into the turf...yet it goes by as a no big deal....The difference is that Reilly isn't a weak/damaged QB and was able to absorb it...guaranteed if he wobbled around like Glass Man did they would have flagged it after the review...the league needs to have consistency in the calls, or some kind of spelled out verbiage on it...or just scrap it and let it play out as it has for 80 some years....you don't like the hits...get out of the game or don't watch...people don't seem to be too concerned with head shots in boxing and the blatant intent to literally knock a bugger the eff out with multiple head shots with no helmet on with knees...elbows in MMA....You choose your profession...you choose the long term results
