I've had more fun watching the Bombers the last few years than I've had since the 2001-era team. All I can ask for, as a fan, is entertaining football game in, game out. MOS, for one, has a Job 4 Life with WBBFC, as far as I'm concerned...

I can't answer for most fans/management any more than you can..thats just your opinion..nor do I know what part of what you were quoting of what I said as it didn't show up. I don't think it's true...and pooching a regime that has won 10+ games 3 years running..and made play-offs doing so because of no cups for 28 years is foolish...that 28 years isn't on them...just the last 5 years are..and the first 2 should really be irrelevant as they had to build the organization back up...on all fronts...so 3 straight 10+ winning seasons with playoff appearances...and a west final appearance gives them leeway....at least another year or 2...but Walters should be antsy. The first 3 games reference was in regards to you saying that we won less games...if we had Nichols healthy to start the season...most likely we win 2..if not 3 of those games..as well as several others in his injury funk....yeah you can say if's and's or but's about a lot of things...but that injury probably cost us 2-3 wins at the least. 28 years yes is a long time...but is spread over about 3-4 different regimes from blow up after blow up..why do you think it has been 28 years now...explicitly for that reason. Keeping a foundation in place where players want to be..and for coaches they want to play for goes a loooong way...trust me...and we have that here...so to rip it down and try to retain...and or attract new players with the uncertainty and unknown of new coaching/management would put us back years...the lack of loyalty shown to a winning regime 3 years running now would send a pretty negative message to any player...let alone coach considering here...and that is a fact...been there..seen that CGY if they lose the cup this year will have 3 fails in a row...do you think that management will be blown up there...nope...and truthfully maybe it should as 3 times a failure should indicate they can't get over the hump...but it won't happen because it won't make them any better

How did Bomber fans get to the point where firing everybody is the default position almost every year, and we have to talk ourselves into why the regime should stay the same. Seems backwards. As far as I'm concerned, firing everyone every time the team doesn't win the Grey Cup within 3 years is the biggest reason the drought has gone on this long.

  6. the guy was second in the league with 10 TD receptions and I believe was tops in the league in plays over 30 yards...so to say he was or is a bust is a bit off balance..and that was playing with a raw rookie for 3 starts...and 4 starts where Nichols played like he was straight out on CIS ball...Get him a running mate to take some load off...and he will be even better also...something overlooked is his blocking when not getting the ball and help in run game, the guys a beast

I would have thought Bomber fans would know by now what happens when u rush someone who isn't ready.. Bryan Randall... Brink.. Elliot etc... Etc etc goltz etc etc etc etc...

  9. The CFLPA is appealing the suspension, presumably for the sole reason that Rose would then play in the Grey Cup game. I sincerely hope that the appeal is denied- that was one of the egregious abuse of an official that I can recall seeing in the CFL.

I was going to take time out and go over your post point by point... but really to what end? Viewing the Bombers through your lens must be infuriating and crazy making. I am happy I don't share your view point. I am happy with the Canadian Trifecta- could they improve, absolutely. Have they done everything they could to bring us a cup- nope. Am I happy with this sustainable changing in culture, the buy-in among the players and coaching staff and canadian content- absolutely. I don't think anyone celebrating how far we've come are "happy with being a middle of the pack team that wins enough games to make it to the playoffs and who sometimes even wins a playoff game." I think you can be happy with what has been accomplished and set out to be better. So, I will focus on the positives and not cherry-pick the issues with the team in isolation thus magnifying them into a distorted debby-downer light.

Better Canadian content, better depth, better talent in trenches, better Canuck receivers, a young QB with actual promise. With MOS we have been able to actually (and finally) attract free agents here, and players play hard for him. Walters actually works on building things through draft. That 4 game funk, cost us a home playoff game. Still some flies in the ointment - the most glaring being recruitment at import R and need to get moving on Medlock replacement...

  18. IMO there were more problems with our offence than the QB. Specifically, our lack of imagination and predictability really hurt. I also thought our o'line didn't play very well. At the end of the day, it was a defensive battle all afternoon, and a play or two going our way instead of theirs, and we win. No I'm not giving the keys to Streveler, but I most certainly want to increase his work-load, and start a transition at the QB position.
    3 points
  19. Calgary rarely rushed more than 4...against our 5....and was flushing out Nichols over and over again. So the answer for me is no, our o'line lost the trench battle no doubt.

  20. Honestly, if we have both Nichols and Streveler, along with Bennett as a 3rd / special teams beast, then we are good. Just give Streveler more reps and playtime, and get us some depth at receiver and we should be able to get things going. Like Clements and Hufnagel, both have their own strengths / weaknesses, and we should use that to our advantage.

Interesting comments on this regime....A lot of time lines have been brought up regarding this regime.....Certainly 28 years without a Cup does not belong at the feet of this present regime BUT IF we take the 5 year period that they are responsible, I like to compare our success or lack thereof with other 'regimes'....Top of my mind is Ottawa....They totally rebuilt (granted with the help of a re-entry draft) and have seen some pretty solid growth in the same 5 yr. span....One Cup.... and another appearance in which they could easily add another...Our record looks pretty anemic when you look at theirs and I guess after all of this time I thought we would/should be a lot further along...I don't know what the exact reason is, quite frankly, that we didn't at least have a home playoff game in 18'...I do not want to see a wholesale change BUT there obviously has to be some changes..It's going to get harder and harder to pass 'little gains' in a season that will appease the long suffering fans of this team...Any sign of regression next year and I think a few coaches will meet the same fate as the NHL Oilers head coach has today.. an in season exit

Ask yourselves these questions ---- Is management and the coaching staff making an effort to find good players for the various positions and make the upgrades when identified needed? Are we creating a culture of team first, individual second? Do players WANT to come and play here? Is the team actually exciting to watch? Some of you would argue about #1, but reality is the answer to all of the above should be yes. We finally have a decent quarterback, with a decent backup. We aren't ready to poop the bed the minute our starter goes down. We have a defense that is starting to gel. We have an O-LIne that when it's hot is HOT. We have the workings of a good team, and a solid locker room culture to boot. Remember the culture when Troy Westwood left? And when Matt Sheridan left? Yeah, it was broken and needed a complete teardown and rebuild. Unless you're lucky like the redblacks (who had the good fortunes of being able to pick and build their team from all teams, just like the Knights did in the NHL), you work with what you have and try build off successes. Calgary has been successful for a long time... but they've built that culture and instilled it in their locker room, their front office staff, everyone. When you walk around the building and the stadium, spend time in the R&W club, you see and hear things that make you realize it's not just that they have good players --- they focus on team. We are on the way. Keep things up the way they are and we will be fighting with Calgary for top spot again next year. A few other plays go our way and the west final is in OUR barn. Just a matter of time. I've waited 28 years for a cup, I can wait a few more if that's what it means to build a dynasty.

  30. Oh based on what? The qb situation they got figured out? The money they're going to have to spend to keep that D intact? You expect your team to score as many defensive points as they did this past season? The Riders are the prime candidate to regress next season.

  35. I know for certain he wants to stay in Winnipeg...and if he comes back for same money...have no issue with it....he's worth it, especially if we can flip our ratio to allow us to have another skill position guy on the roster for returns...be it a receiver...or a guy who can play DB. On the fence with Dressler...If we can land a big time number one to go with Adams and Woli...then I actually wouldn't mind seeing Dressler back in same role, but wouldn't pay more than what Demski got last year for him, and you start Simonese on the boundary...truly believe he will bust out next year like Woli did this year. We do what we gotta do to try and lock down Biggie...also JSK wants to resign here, so that should be a slam dunk...and whispers I hear is that Goose/Chungh and Bryant are all but a formality once the dust settles with the CBA We just need to focus on the Jeffcoat situation and get him locked in...and if it is ath the expense of Opo...thats the price of business, tho I know the staff love Opo here..will be inter sting to see where our main targets are with our own guys

  36. Just this past season (0-4), so I'd take it with a grain of salt. In 2017, the Bombers were undefeated without him in the lineup (4-0). In 2016, they were also undefeated without him in the lineup (3-0).

Ideally I would like to see a Daniels or Mathews in the slot with Woli...Keep Adams doing what he is doing now as he would thrive there as the #2 guy and move Simonese out to boundary like we did with Woli...the guy would be a mismatch nightmare and in the chances he has been given albeit limited he makes plays...averaged 30 yards a catch..and even if you took out his one 53 yarder..still averaged 23...he has the prototypical boundary body type and skill set and with a year under his belt now...will turn some heads in camp...I wouldn't sell out to retain Demski if it goes that way but if he comes back at similar to what he made this year then that would be okay, and Peterman can back him up, thou not too sold on him yet...seems a bit inconsistent to me, and at times a bit lazy..or disinterested in the other aspects of the receiver role (blocking etc) If we could field a unit with Adams/Woli/(one of Mathewes/Daniels/MItchell/) Simonese and Thompkins/Nelson I would be more than happy...even with that lineup I would be okay with one more year of Dressler in that spot on a value contract with one of Thomkins or Nelson backing up...unless we uncover our own stud. I don't want 6 of our 7 nationals on offence this year unless 4 are lineman as it hurts us more than helps us I think with roster options....and to do that we have to either not resign Bryant, or let Hardrick go...both of which are stupid options...best case is to bring our oline back same as last year with Gray replacing Couture as the 6th until he can beat out Neufeld...unless he does it right out of TC...and even then..I would keep Neuf as the 6th guy as he can play anywhere..is good...and is relatively cheap for a starting national olineman with 7 years experience

  40. I don't hate the Riders, just a whole lot of their fans and management and the players. I hate the Argos but they have no fans. (Sorry, Bluto). I hate the Lions and their fan. I hate the Stamps and their fans (the refs). I hate the Ticats but like Zontar. I hate Ottawa, all iterations. I don't hate the Als but can't stand their fans. I hate the Esks and most of their fans. I'm starting to dislike Halifax. Oh yeah, I DO hate the Als.
    2 points
  41. Riders won’t necessarily be better. Jefferson very easily could be gone, Roosevelt too. I wouldn’t be shocked if the QB situation is still a mess next year too. Reilly or Mitchell aren’t coming through that door.

  42. Yeah... makes me wonder what could've been if we went after Matthews harder..

  43. Don't think Nichols, at his age, is going to learn anything new, or change what he does. What we've seen, is what we'll get.
    2 points
  44. I get that everyone is still angry (I'm physically ill thinking about it...) but Matt Nichols has earned the benefit of the doubt. What he's accomplished as a Bomber, and especially how he rebounded after the Banjo Bowl, he's more than earned the right to come into next year as the starter. I expect big things from him out of the gate next year. Nichols play doesn't concern me......Lapo's playcalling, however......
    2 points
  45. Realistically if Nichols is going to be a productive QB moving forward with limited mobility he needs to work on speeding up his reads, relying more on pre-snap and speeding up his release, preparing to beat a blitz/solid pass rush. Lapo did not help this problem either. We run the slowest developing plays.

    Needs for next year

An upgrade from Dressler to a dominant receiver that pushes Darvin to #2 on our depth chart. A replacement for Chris Randle A more steady, solid third import receiver (but this should ideally be a new recruit, to be honest) A safety, since I’m going to assume Loffler leaves town
    2 points
  47. Isn't Rielly a free agent? If u can get him then u do it and then let Nichols go. Otherwise u wait till someone steals the job from him. Or did we really not learn anything after Glenn? I get the disappointment in a loss but give your heads a few hard shakes. I rather be in the west final with a chance to win in the fourth vs losing a bunch of games and missing the playoff untill we find a QB that wins. Cuase as far as I see it, sask, Montreal, Toronto all show what its like to play without a good QB. I don't want to be like them
