22 sacks is crazy at any position.3 points -
Then they compared the sperm of 24 human men who smoked marijuana weekly versus a control group who used marijuana no more than 10 times in their life and not at all in the past half-year. In both cases — rats and humans — marijuana changed how genes work in sperm cells. By no means am I demonizing marijuana- in fact the evidence shows that it is likely less harmful, physically and socially than alcohol. But, for some 3-5% of users the effects are deleterious. One of the major problems in the debate is that the proponents cite research that is based on an era where the active ingredient was about 2-4% whereas the hybrid strains now have tested as high as 21%. There is no free lunch. There are benefits for some in using marijuana derivatives and there will be negative side effects for others.2 points

There's been a bunch of guys like Lance Storm on twitter commenting on how someone's going to die at some point and these sorts of stunts really need to be scaled back. The doofus who cracked his skull has been responding to each one with either a sarcastic "Thanks for your concern" or just flat out telling them they don't know what they're talking about. Was unfamiliar with the fellow until this incident so I have no clue if this is part of his brain damage or if he was always this way. Considering he was willing to try a stunt like that at an indie show where he's maybe getting paid a couple hundred bucks, I'm going to assume he was kind of an idiot to begin with.1 point -

Is it? I never said he played bad saving shots and being in position. It is starting to be an issue when he goes behind the net to play the puck. He needs to work on it and get better or stop playing the puck.1 point -

The best linebackers we had were Greg Battle in the middle & West & Jones outside. Absolutely freaking dominant. I think the best 3 starting linebackers together on any team & any time period in CFL history.1 point -

THC is not cannabis. It is a single aspect of it. Which is why synthetic forms of THC have a long list of side effects that aren't always associated with whole plant treatments. Doing experiments with only THC is misleading at best and often flat out false, as the other cannabinoids as well as the terpenes present in the plant can alter the effects of THC as well as the ability of THC to properly bind to the cannabinoid cell receptors. The study your quoting did not take other lifestyle choices into consideration. Diet, exercise, careers etc etc etc. It may have also let the participants source their own cannabis, which brings on a whole other list of problems. This is unfortunately extremely common in cannabis studies, maybe false isn't the right word, but these studies are often done with a result already in mind. IE - "Cannabis lowers sperm count" Instead of "Does cannabis lower sperm count?" Also, the original post talked about altering the DNA of sperm, not lowering the overall sperm count. I really shouldn't discount these types of studies, and I'm certainly not trying to point out that cannabis is a miracle etc etc. But the vast majority of the studies done on it are trying to find out why its bad for us, not just conducting proper research and letting the results speak for themselves. Again, nothing against the people who did this study...these types of results are legitimately the only way you can continue to get funding to study cannabis in most countries. It's a fairly broken system.. The legalization of cannabis in Canada will bring about some very accurate results for better or worse.1 point -

Fun fact. I used to work at a gas station at Main and Terminal in Downtown Vancouver (circa 1996-97). Bure would stop by every so often and buy smokes. Camels were his brand. Maybe that's not so fun but it is a fact! Jim Hughson did the radio play-by-play for the Canucks back then. I still like Hughson to this day.1 point -

David Phillips, head of environment Canada. Canada is not as cold as it once was, with every region and all seasons warmer than ever before. While Canada is still the snowiest country, less snow is falling in our southern regions. Our mountain snowpack and glaciers are disappearing rapidly, and frost-free days are increasing. Our growing seasons are longer, but so are the length and intensity of our wildfire seasons. In the Great Lakes, the past decade has featured both record high and low water levels. When it rains, it often rains harder and longer, with higher incidents of flash flooding, especially in our cities. Storms seem to be getting bigger and moving more slowly, leaving more damage in their wakes. Scientists from Environment and Climate Change Canada have concluded that the risk of western fires since 2015 has increased two to six times due to human-induced warming and that, in the Arctic, extreme sea-ice minima in recent years would have been extremely unlikely in the absence of human influences. In fact, scientists have made a clear link between climate change and extreme weather events that include heat waves, wildfires, flooding, and sea ice disappearance. Weather changes in Canada are happening abruptly not subtly, rapidly not gradually. As Canadians continue to experience more and more extreme weather, intense month-long heat waves, suffocating smoke and haze from wildfires, and extreme flooding will simply be the norm mere decades from now. Events that were once rare or unusual for our grandparents are now more commonplace, while we all become more vulnerable due to extreme weather. As the Top Ten Weather Stories of 2018 bear out, Canadians must become more resilient—not only for what lies ahead but also for the variations in climate, which are already here. (Rocky mountain glaciers supply drinking and irrigation water for parts of the praries. Not sure what we'll do for water after they're gone.)1 point -
