  1. 2019 free agency hasn't even started yet. Getting Bighill locked up here is absolutely, unequivocally more crucial right now than a soon-to-be sophomore QB who has a year remaining on his contract. That's not even up for debate at this moment in time.

  2. This is one of the funniest things I've read on here in a long time... And I pray Bighill or his agent doesn't see it... I don't think we've had an FA as important as Bighill in years and years around these parts....

  3. The fans that overvalue these players are the first to turn on them when they don't meet their bloated expectations.

  4. Wow, with all the other issues with this team going into the 2019 season like re-signing Bighill & a plethora of other Bomber free agents & you're worried about that now? FA for the 2020 season is 13 months away.

  5. This bio from bluebombers.com and the Hall of Fame section regarding Jeff Nicklin. A true hero whom we can thank for our freedom today. "Nicklin was sent overseas to Europe as part of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and was then named the Commanding Officer of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion. He was one of the first Canadians to jump on D-Day in 1944, led his division in the Battle of the Bulge and was among the first to jump into Germany as part of Operation Varsity in March of 1945. Alas, his chute got tangled up in a tree and he was shot and killed as he tried to wrestle free. As a tribute to Nicklin, the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion donated the Jeff Nicklin Memorial Trophy to the Western Interprovincial Football Union in 1946, and it is awarded annually to the top player in the Canadian Football League’s West Division."

  6. I guess according to the media in this country, Regina is the only city in the CFL where players can work in the off season or start a new career for after football. What a bunch of ****.

  7. Why is he "otherwise" gone? Please tell me why fans like you & Skunk are always paranoid? And you are.

  8. He could do that if he stayed in Edmonton, as well. Regina has 200,000 people. Edmonton has 1.5 million. The media sure makes out Regina as this special place whereas in reality, if you blink, you'll miss it. It's just a big town with 2 main streets.

  11. oh hell no Sobey's ad: 5:22, 5:26, 6:16, 6:25, 6:31, 6:51, 7:07, 7:15, 7:30 and the captain finds and opening 2-1 Ducks Laine ties it 2nd period ends with Ducks regaining the lead

  13. Of course the Riders are going to try persuade him, but chances are basically nill that he signs there. Put yourself in his shoes. A 3 year extension at around 600k per year is going to offered by Edmonton, BC, Sask, and maybe even Calgary throws their hat into the ring. This very well could be his last contract if he wants it to be as he's not a spring chicken and he's made some decent money in his career. Abandon the city he played most of his career in (Edmonton), pass up the chance to play in Vancouver closer to family, to play in a dump of a small town in Regina? I HIGHLY doubt it. People forget that players have a choice of where they want to sign and lots of times money doesn't matter. The opportunity to sell insurance post career isn't going to bait anyone

  14. Look, Bombers are going to sign Bighill OK? So just breathe out. Moreover, why should anyone care, Bighill or his agent included, about opinions on a fan board? That makes no sense. What does make sense is the fact that you need a better QB than Nichols to get you to the Grey Cup and to win it. If that isn't obvious I can't help you. There's been lots of QBs come and go in this league over the years but I haven't seen one in Blue and Gold with Streveler's potential and for the reasons already stated we need to lock him up now.

  15. Streveler is an FA at the end of next season. At the same time Nichols is ending year two of his 3-year deal at over $450k. The club might be able to afford Streveler at that point if they outright cut Nichols but probably not. In any event they'll be competing with other interested parties for his services. So good luck with that.

  16. I must cop to an error on my part. Rigney did play defensive tackle, but his awards WERE for his work as an o-lineman. I confused his bio with D-I-c-k Huffman, who also played both ways, and in fact HE won an all-star nod as both an offensive and defensive player in the same year. Rigney will be pulled from the defensive tackle list. Thanks for auditting me.

  17. You know that phenomenon when fans bases over value their players and assume that players that show flashes of being very good are all of sudden destined to be superstars? This.

  18. Many fans expected Nichols to step up his game last year since said he planned to work on improving his running/mobility etc. Instead, presumably due to injury, he took a big step backwards. I say presumably because we don't know why he was so average or below in almost every facet of his game. It's possible Nichols has just plateaued at the exact level of his capabilities. Which, if so, is all the more reason why Bombers need to extend Chris Streveler now and lock him up to a long term deal. Otherwise he's gone. To me, getting Streveler locked up long term is more important than Bighill.

  19. The number of MOC awards Brown was screwed out of because people voted for sexy stats on Cahoon is staggeringly gross...

  20. It'll never happen . But it would be nice to see Riders cut their own throat cap wise.

  21. If I'm Reilly, I go to BC. Close to home and they have some really nice options to throw to in Burnham/Manny/Johnson and good options at RB.

  22. Well hopefully the following will be enough to dissuade him, who in the hell would want to spend their post-playing career in Regina? "The Riders would try and sway Reilly to end his career in Saskatchewan, pushing the benefits of being the face of the franchise – especially post-playing career when Reilly could earn income in various ways long after the days of stepping on the football field are over. Combined with the benefits of playing in a state of the art facility for a rabid fan base."
