  1. I'd rather overspend on Chungh then Burnham/Walker....
    4 points
  2. In a perfect free-agency we sign Chungh the day or 2 before, then use money freed up from no Goosen/Lafrance/Opo/Loffler which frees up about a little over 500k if not more for what we already payed Goose/Opo/Lafrance/Loffler ..so 500k+ of last year committed money is available We give Boateng Opo'ish money say at with 165k and Adeleke a nice 135k to pull him out of Calgary and then with the remaining 200k we pick the receiver we think is the best and aggressively go at him.. We can flip ratio and start 2 imports on defence and 5 on offence and we have already have adequate rotation guys on the defense to rotate Boateng to give him a break...and if we re-up Corney it's even better

  3. Hey maybe we can stream the latin CFL broadcast.... might make it more entertaining then whatever Rod Black rambles about...

  4. Me thinks that Loffler is waaaayyyy over valuing himself...upwards of 200k for an extension??...see ya bud...money better spent elsewhere and safety isn't where you spend it...whoever pays that is nuts I guarantee you...if he is gone....you won't even know it or miss him...too many people here are way too enamored with his big hits a few years ago and look past a lot of his deficiencies..such as can't cover, or run with a receiver at all....always late to breaking up a pass as the deep safety...sure he lays a lick on a guy occasionally but who cares when they made the catch anyway..

  5. Last time I checked both Reilly and Derel Walker missed the playoffs. Obviously the Esks. need to pay them more money!

  6. If there is one guy that I watch in the CFL and say I wished he played for the Bombers Burnham is the guy, he is everything a receiver should be

  7. Burnham has proven to be very durable....he also makes the dirty catches..Walker not so much

  8. The guy is a game changer and added to our O weapons would cause fits for D's.

  11. Maybe a luxury move but that's it. A centre is much more crucial at this point. The second line needs a boost.

  12. Id pay for a center over a winger. Little isnt good enough. But i certainly wouldnt overpay for a winger like Stone eventho he would make us better. But that center needs to be a specific type.. Not a shoot first guy like Eric Staal or Matt DoucheBag... Id want to find a reliable 2 way 0ass first guy.. Maybe a Kevin Hayes type.

  14. I think it's crazy that anyone would think the Jets would trade Roslo. Or am I crazy? I mean, they drafted him and have been grooming him, I think, expecting him to step into the 2nd line centre position in the next year or two. It feels very un-Jets like for them to trade him at this point. Stone would be awesome but at what cost? I think the team that gets him will be the one that he signs with long term.

  15. I like how every year for some reason I read about how the Bombers have zero space and money to sign free agents and every year we end up signing some big contract guys. I don't see money being an issue if we are trying to sign a few key free agents.

  17. Maximum penalty: the amount you were over cap, plus a $250 000 fine and 3 draft picks. The answer to your penalties question Mr. Skunk - is YES.

  19. If there ever was a season to not worry about this cap stuff....and just go get a cup is this not it ?....... are the penalties worse than winning the cup finally ? Jus wondering lol.

  20. If you like that name then you will really wish for the Bombers to draft this guy:

  21. Kyle Walter's to me has shown that he knows how to manage the cap. He is always a player in free agency.

  23. I think Hodge's "sources" are sitting back having a good chuckle over how gullible he is right now. No safety in our league past or present is worth 200k per. It's just an unrealistic number and to me sounds completely fabricated. Let's not forget that this is the same guy whose 'sources" told him we were going to fire Richie Hall last offseason, that we would not re-sign Stanley Bryant, that we were hot and heavy after Bakari Grant and JC Sherritt last year, among other whoppers. He is a high school teacher in Neepawa with a blog and a penchant for making stuff up. Nothing more.

  24. whens the last time we seen that tho since???? and don't recall what happened next play, but I'd rather have a safety pick that pass off...not get there late...a better throw and arcenaeux makes that catch for a TD

  28. Reg Threlfall was also Coach of the 1942 & 1943 Winnipeg RCAF Bombers who lost in the Grey Cup each year. The 1942 & 1943 RCAF Bombers teams are part of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers history. The Blue Bombers suspended operations on August 24, 1944 when the team learned that RCAF members were no longer permitted to play on a civilian team. Note: In 1942, Threlfall was Manager of the Winnipeg City League. He would visit the practices of all 3 teams (Bombers - civilians; RCAF Flyers - servicemen; Manitoba Bisons - students & civilians). Threlfall was Coach of the Winnipeg RCAF Bombers (combined team) who played in the west final and Grey Cup. Threlfall once claimed that the 1940 Winnipeg Blue Bombers was the best team he ever coached. The rules dispute in play in 1940 was regarding blocking down field. The WCRFU (which included the WIFU) had liberal blocking rules which permitted linemen to block downfield and backfielders to block up to the line of scrimage. The CRU (governing body of football in Canada which regulated the eastern playoffs and Grey Cup) only allowed linemen to block on the line and backfielders could only block in the backfield. The CRU made it known prior to the 1939 Grey Cup that unified rules would have to be in place prior to the 1940 Grey Cup if the WCRFU wanted to enter a team. Negotiations continued up to November 1940 without success. As the CRU kept a date open for an East-West Grey Cup game, it was determined that the Grey Cup in 1940 would instead be a 2 game total points series.

  29. Thread is unlocked, but I am going to start handing out suspensions to people who can't behave civilly in this discussion and in politics. Seems to be the usual suspects in both. You guys don't have to agree with each other, but you do have to respect each other and contribute to a discussion, if this is too sensitive of a topic for you to do that, then don't post.

  31. Every day of the week and twice on game day. That said, I really hope we got both. I feel like we should have plenty of flexibility with a bunch of old vets getting replaced by younger cheaper guys. So long as we dont over pay to keep someone like loffler.

  33. Why? Why would you trade a 20 year old who has 105 goals in his career.. Of those 105 Buff has 31 Apples.. Ehlers 21. Little... 11. The problem with Laine is hes a number 1 goal scoring winger playing with a 2 almost 3 center. Put him with 55 for a week. Connor Scheif Laine Copp Little Wheeler Perreault Lowry Tanev Lemieux Roslo Appleton Ehlers back, he replaces Copp who replaced Roslo or Appleton.

  36. Our prospects cupboards is getting bare you can't keep giving away picks year after year and then these guys bolt, a 1st round pick is still a 1st round pick and a certain team may have a player ranked higher who falls to them.

  37. For a pure rental? No thanks. Id do conditional 1st (2020) and Petan. Condition being if he signs by July 1st. If not.. Not giving up 1st and 2nd for a non priority winger.

I would do it in a heartbeat, even if we couldn't re-sign him. A late first and second round pick is not worth what Stone could contribute to a playoff run, IMO.

  40. If he wants to sign an extension sure but I don't think he would, giving up a 1st and 2nd and then he walks at the end of the season no thanks.

  42. Umm.. 1 player does not make a team.. Last year the team believed in the system.. D first... This year looks like they might not be all agreeing. Ppl talk about Laine cuz hes an easy target but.. Every member of the Jets top 6 have looked lost and disinterested at times especially in the D zone.

Locking this thread for a day. Perhaps everyone can take that time to cool off and actually try to have a discussion without insults, gifs, whining, and name calling. Reflect if you all want to have an actual discussion here or I should just split this into two threads so each side can have their bubbles.
