  1. Zontar, you handled the criticism of your hometown from Bluto pretty well & your response was diplomatic. I'm impressed. If that was most Rider fans, there'd be a big meltdown.

  10. That's the thing, it's hard to get too excited about an international RB, when you know he's not likely to see the field. We know Flanders is a versatile talent and he rarely ever cracked the lineup.

  11. Looks more like trying to find some even lines rather then traditional 1-4. Other then 3 being the "checking" line. hayes probably started with a lot less ice time than he was getting in NY and will increase as he gets acclimated. Probably juggle some guys around and find the best options,.

  14. I've taken my kids to Grey Cup since they were little. I've got 3, but they're all adults now. Usually 1 at a time, unless the Bombers were in, then the budget got shot and it became a family event. Back then it was the parade, local museums and family oriented events more so than the team parties and pubs. We've had some great weekends over the years, and we still do some local attractions in addition to the parties and pubs. With a 10 year old, Calgary is a much better choice than Regina. More to do, plus you won't have the restaurant line-ups and waits that can be tough on a youngster. If it were me, I'd rent a car and hit the mountains for a day. Good for you on taking your kid. I've been doing it for years and never have regretted it.

  20. Paul Maurice after seeing the Jets trades today (excluding Hayes)... Maurice: You cheap son of a *****. Are you crazy? Those guys are idiots! Chevy: I got a good deal on those boys. Scout said they showed a lot of promise. Maurice: They brought their ******' toys with 'em! Chevy: I'd rather have them playing with their toys than playing with themselves. Maurice: They're too dumb to play with themselves! Boy, every piece of garbage that comes into the league, you gotta buy it.

  27. He's going to get time on the second power play unit and PK time too. Acclimated is the perfect word. I expect to see PoMo juggle the lines to check on the fit.

  32. Vince has tons of money. As the Forbes article details, he has a lot of stocks, bonds etc. Because he makes a lot of cash. Millions and millions per year cash from salary, bonuses, dividends, investment income. Does he keep half a billion in small bills under his mattress? Probably not. But he easy access to loads of cash. He sold shares to invest in the XFL which is a normal thing for rich business people to do. He still owns more shares than anyone else. Billions of dollars worth. He's going to be okay. Plus, WWE is doing a stock buy back and Im sure he'll end up gaining plenty of stock options. He's 73. This is a bucket list thing for him. His wealth is not completely tied to WWE because while Im sure he's pretty smart about money, he surely has a lot of even smarter accountants and money managers. He didnt blink when spending, what, $50 million on Linda's political career? $100 million on the XFL? He's fine. WWE stock actually increased a lot since his sell off and will continue to do so with the new TV contracts so his wealth continues to grow. WWE has virtually nothing to do with the XFL other than sharing some office people and the owner of the XFL is the CEO of WWE. They are separate entities unlike the first go around when the XFL was owned by the WWE and NBC. If Vince isnt wealthy, I wish I was as unwealthy as him.

  35. Laine can stay for now.. They look ok but Hayes is kind of tailor made for Laine and i think Maurice tries that eventually.. Maybe u move little to the RW.

  36. Of course, but that does not mean the cap is going up (significantly). It just means the lowest paid players will make more, taking from those at the higher level. It's throwing it back at the CFLPA, publicly. Now it's in their court.

  38. You don't want your 10 year old's first Grey Cup memory with his Dad to be Regina, do you???
    1 point
  39. Last time they got a Grey Cup game awarded to them I got roasted on pretty much every forum for standing up to the Pollyannas who proclaimed how Regina "deserves" it. Wrong, wronger, wrongest. You only "deserve" it if you can host both the event and the people who go to it in the manner in which it deserves. A GC in a small-time setting is a small-time GC. And the last one held there was like a local event and nothing like a celebration of Canada and Canadian Football.
