Yeah, that's definitely a thing in gov't unions. I can only speak from my family's experiences, but my Federal office workplace is infinitely better than what my wife has to deal with with the province. They're under the constant threat of "restructuring". Her manager is never around, b/c she's been given multiple additional duties due to "restructuring". My wife's supervisor retired, so now she's doing her job, as well as her old job, and was only bumped up one level on the payscale. People are taking more sick days due to stress, and nearly every day at least one person in the office is crying. It's crazy.3 points -

That model assumes that the other teams all win out, which isn't going to happen either. But right now this is the simple math of what the Jets need to do regardless of any other team's performance. I'd say that anything other than the option of finishing first in the conference is definitely in play.2 points -

Connor had a couple of great chances too. That was definitely a goal; the refs blew the call and the review just wanted to sweep it under the rug. For the most part, we outplayed the Caps, but couldn't cash in on our chances... Especially on the PP. I agree with others, that there needs to be a wrinkle added, at least.1 point -

I've heard this sad story so many times, such an enormous waste of tax payer's money to continue paying people who basically hate their jobs and are non-functional but are fully committed to collecting their guaranteed salary and pension plans. They milk the hell out of the system and max. out all the benefits they feel entitled to with little concern for being non-productive entities. The cushions built in to protect these govt. employees from severance are ridiculous, I can't see this behaviour being tolerated in the private sector for long as the salary drawn would be coming out of specific individual's pockets who would not tolerate such utter waste.1 point -
Desk audits would be far more common if the Civil Service Commission had the capacity to do so. But, they're so short staffed that they can't even keep up with basic recruitment. It takes six months to get a positioned filled, if you're lucky. One of the ways managers were able to retain staff in the past would be to change the position descriptions in order to get them reclassified up, even if they were not performing all the duties. Now, all those people are vulnerable to have their positions re-classed back down. This government has also decreased the amount of supervisors and managers by realigning a lot of offices so more people are reporting to fewer people. The two year salary protection has been part of collective agreement. I'm not sure whether they'll maintain that policy while a new agreement is being negotiated on good faith. I'm going to guess they are. Not so for the no-layoff clause.1 point

Where do you come up with this garbage? Where do you put either player, anyway? And seriously... you're trying to blame Scheifele's recent struggles on his breakup with Dara Howell back in the summer of 2017...? He's played a total 145 games since then, scoring 69 goals and 155 points, and is a +40. Oh, and an All-Star nod. I agree with you on the predictability of the power play but that's ultimately on the coaching staff to change the scheme. This nonsense about breaking up the top line is utterly asinine.1 point -

The issue with the brier is that there are some really trash teams there and until you get to the playoffs you might wind up watching some really mismatched games. I was watching Nova Scotia play while I was the gym one day and that team had no business being on the ice. Couldn't make their shots, making questionable strategy calls.... but then you throw in a wild card for the sake of not shutting out a good team from a competitive province, but then if that's the point why stick with the provincial format? I dunno I really think they need to decide if they still want to be the provincial winners show up to the national championship or if they want to just have the best of the best teams in the country play for the national championship. They are trying to have it both ways and I don't like it. Pick a side and go with it. The added bonus of just letting the best teams play regardless of where they are from is you drop the charade of having a Manitobans playing for Saskatchewan or Alberta or where ever else and then they can just build teams without needing to worry about the residency requirements, which they are already playing fast and loose with anyway.1 point -

Yup. When Buff was out. He was good too. Jets should try Niku over Trouba on the PP. Replace Connor with Hayes or Ehlers who is a zone entry machine. Its crazy when down by 1 u got little out there over Ehlers or Connor. Just dumb. .1 point -

Negotiations begin Monday between the CFL and the CFLPA. Give and get. The players should get more, be it compensation and/or remuneration. But - they can’t get silly. The CFL is unique. Professional - Canadian home town unique. An Organization that has been around, in one form or another, for over 100 years. But - the CFL can’t only afford all the asks. And the League can’t ignore all the asks. Some of the demands from the CFLPA don’t take in the quandaries that the League has faced over the years, and will continue to face going forward. Hence CFL 2.0 Comparing the CFL with other professional leagues, for negotiations, simply cannot be done. All us CFL fans want is a fair negotiation process and understanding. From both sides. The season must not be jeopardized in any shape or form. Fan support and TV broadcasting are hinging on a fair resolution. Make it happen..1 point -

Why are you afraid of new ideas or change? Reality in Politics especially, its an old white boys club... They want to be in charge, the old white man.. The straight white male, they are afraid of changes, afraid of the new and different but why? Are they afraid some new ideas actually might work? Cuz if u are being honest with politics.. Its the same ideas over and over from the same straight white male.. Time for change. Other people have good ideas too.. The idea behind a govt is to work for the ppl . the straight white male? Works for himself. That's a problem. Change is good. The avg straight white male politician will take 1 million dollars over saving 1 million ppl 1 million dollars.. This is not what Govt is supposed to be Stop putting them in to dems or Republicans category.. I know crazy but its ok to like a republican idea but also like a dem idea too on something else. Not 1 person has all the answers.. The idea of govt is 2 work as 1 for the ppl... Be nice if they did that.. But Nope it's US vs THEM.1 point

Simonese I think could grab that outside spot..regardless of ratio...He has the skill set for it and the body type to succeed there...now after a full season on the roster last year, an off-season to digest things after basically being out of the game for the better part of 2 years he should be able to come into camp at 100 percent and just play his game. you seen last year he has the skill as he roasted 2 of the top DB's in the league and he earned his chops on the special teams too..and if it came down to a decision between him and Peterman to be on the roster, or grab a starting spot then the wise bet is on Simonese as he has way more upside and potential, not to mention being in a spot to be more impactful..looking forward to TC to see how much he has progressed1 point

One trick the PC's like to use to reduce the workforce is re-classification. They'll change your designation (but not necessarily your job) so they can reduce your pay. People aren't thrilled with the idea of doing the same job for less pay so they leave. At least in one case where the PC's did this in the past (at lotteries), some people were offered buy-outs if they weren't willing to accept the re-classification. They are currently doing this in my wife's office but in lieu of a buy-out, they are offering salary protection for 2 years if you end up getting moved to a lower classification. It will have the same effect though, just not as quickly. People will leave but now they have some time to look for other work.0 points -
Thats pretty much the PP isnt it? But its more D to Wheeler to D to Wheeler to D to Wheeler to Laine... Goal, No Goal. Our PP is incredibly predictable and stands still.. There is no movement besides D to Wheeler to Laine or 55. Its why its plateuad. Also.. Scheifele and Wheeler have been severly overplayed.. Wheeler and Scheif need to be broken up. Hopefully Scheif can handle it.. Cuz appears his breakup with his olympic GF has hurt his game.0 points
