  1. https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/thesaurus/progressive It isn't misleading and has literally nothing to do with anyone's opinion. They are synonymous terms, with the word progressive having its origins from the Latin word progredi, which literally translates to advance or forward.

Trump Whitehouse staff and Fox news staff are interchangeable; Trump gets his information from Fox. He relies on it instead of NSA, Dpt of Labour, Pentagon, EPA, FBI, and so on, all of whom he thinks are know nothings. He might not be the worst President in history, but he's certainly the stupidest. By a large margin.

"Almost 8 in 10 Republicans who watch Fox News say Donald Trump is the most successful president in history.😂 That was just one finding of a new poll showing the deep ideological divide between Fox News viewers and everyone else. The poll results were provided to The Daily Beast by Navigator, a project launched by Democratic groups Global Strategy Group and GBA strategies. They surveyed more than 1,000 registered voters online with the goal of examining the differences in views between Fox News viewers and non-Fox viewers. Thursday’s survey shows why many in the Democratic party have largely written off the network’s viewers as a lost cause. The survey’s authors argue that the network presents an “alternate reality” in American politics, and plays an “outsized role in the way many experience and form opinions on the most important issues facing the country.” The data show numerous ways in which Fox News-watching Republicans have radically different beliefs from non-Republicans and even Republicans who do not watch Fox News." daily beast Edit: "Republicans who don’t watch Fox News, for example, are over twice as likely to believe climate change is man-made, compared to just 12 percent of Republicans who watch Fox News."

  5. No. What you are trying to say is very misleading. You are factually incorrect, there is no opinion here. Please stop spreading misinformation. Progressive and forward-thinking are EXACTLY that by the very definition of synonymous. syn·on·y·mous /səˈnänəməs/ adjective (of a word or phrase) having the same or nearly the same meaning as another word or phrase in the same language.

  6. AOC: - Invest in reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero - Invest in making the US a leader in clean energy technology - Federal Jobs guarantee - Basic income - Universal Healthcare - 70% tax rate on super wealthy - Reform ICE - Supports LGBTQ rights - tuition-free public colleges My God, what a monster. People calling her names either 1) are scared to death of her ability to push issues to the fore that are important to many people 2) have heads burred in sand and dont know what they're talking about. Which is not to say you have to agree with her policies but to dismiss them with pettiness shows an ignorance to them

  14. Absolutely. I was just illustrating that if super wealthy did it voluntarily, everyone would be thrilled. The difference is its a tax. And those super rich can easily afford it. But super rich often like being even richer. I get it. I wish I was more money too. But do I whine about people worse off than me paying less taxes? No, ofcourse not. In Canada we pay too much tax as it is, but I should pay more than someone making half what I make. And someone who makes ten times what I make should pay more. Its actually a silly debate...its a no-brainer.

No to voluntarily donating, because the rich don't need anymore tax breaks. Rutger Bregman nailed it: “This is not rocket science,” he said. “We can talk for a very long time about all these stupid philanthropy schemes, we can invite Bono once more, but, come on, we got to be talking about taxes. That’s it. Taxes, taxes, taxes — all the rest is bulls---, in my opinion.”

  18. why does it explain a lot? It just seems like people are assigning themselves a high moral ground here that is completely undeserved, just because they identify with a specific political group. Anything that disagrees with this political group's ideology is immediately labeled "regressive" (whatever that even means) no matter what the points of disagreement may be. Case in point - if you question the 12 year death sentence certain politicians have put on the planet due to the man-made climate change hypothesis, you are suddenly "regressive", which is just plain silly. Being "progressive" seems to be to actually be pretty regressive in a lot of ways, and extremely damaging to the environment and the economy. So to sum up, the moral preening of those labeling themselves "progressive" is pretty hard to stomach, and also pretty hypocritical.

  23. Temperatures surged above 70 degrees in Alaska and northern Canada this week. All-time March records were shattered in these northern latitudes. Seattle nearly hit 80 degrees, their warmest day anytime from November through March. The warmth extended into western and northern Canada in places you'd usually expect to be ice- or snow-covered in late March. Yohin Lake, less than 400 miles from the Arctic Circle in the Northwest Territories, soared to 21.8 degrees Celsius (about 71 degrees Fahrenheit) Tuesday, the first time on record a location in the Northwest Territories warmed to at least 20 degrees Celsius. Neither Denver, nor Kansas City, had yet to reach 70 degrees in 2019. This was just one of 10 locations in northwest Canada smashing new March records, according to Patrick Duplessis, a doctoral candidate at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. https://weather.com/news/weather/news/2019-03-20-march-record-warmth-alaska-canada-seattle and NASA Decades of NASA data show the Earth is warming. According to NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies in Manhattan, the Earth has warmed about 1.44 degrees Fahrenheit during the last 40 years. But the poles are warming even faster; the Arctic has warmed by more than 3.5 degrees Fahrenheit during the same time period. https://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/warmingpoles.html Scientific American: An Arizona utility said last week it plans to install more (battery) energy storage in the next six years than had been built in all of the United States prior to 2018. The announcement by Arizona Public Service Co. represents a breakthrough moment for the storage industry. While utility-scale storage announcements have been building in size and frequency, none of them matches the 850 megawatts proposed by the Phoenix-based company. It also heralds a shift for APS. Last year, state regulators rejected the utility’s long-term power plans, saying they called for too much new natural gas. Company officials now say batteries are the cheapest way to meet peak demand traditionally served by natural gas peaking units scientific American. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/an-arizona-utility-is-betting-big-on-energy-storage/

If every person in the US who made over $10 million a yeah, voluntarily donated 70% of their above-$10 million income to a fund that was then distributed to everyone else using a formula where the most needy got the most and so on and so on...we'd call that a great Utopian ideal. I suppose people can debate whether it would stifle innovation or make people lazy. But in theory, its sort of a perfect scenario. Those with more helping those with less. At the end of the day if someone like me is taxed at 20% and someone like...say, Trump, is taxed at 70%, he STILL has way more money left over than I do. Whats the problem? Mostly, people who dismiss it are just doing the usual ideological blindfold routine. I remember when everyone said Bernie was nuts for wanting universal health care and its not an accepted part of many mainstream politicians policies. Asking the super rich to pay more is not anti-rich or anti-business. Its pro-human.

Check out what happened in the past when the top earners were taxed at 70%+. Even the Trudeau Liberals haven't gone there, and Canada would gladly accept all the tax dodging musicians and actors who want to come here, knowing that their windows of opportunity for high earning could be very limited. Go ask Roger Moore or the Rolling Stones about how they liked living in the UK in the 70s (hint: they moved away).

  40. I am not at all in favour of a second challenge. As it is now, coaches have to consider carefully whether and when to use their one challenge. It has added to the game. Blown protections /coverages / etc are part of the game. So are bad calls by the officials. I hear that coaches lose their jobs because of bad calls - well, a lot more coaches lose their jobs because they screwed up a game plan or their QB had a bad game (i.e. their QB was not perfect). Fans of every single team in every single sport are convinced that their team was robbed by the officials in every game ever played. Killing the momentum of the game and making a marathon of a sprint is not going to fix something they will believe anyway.

  44. I am a little late to the dance but I thought that I would share some information on Lou Adelman. Adelman played the snapback/centre position for his entire career (note: he played middle wing in 1 game in 1931). During this era, the centre was considered to be the second most important position on the field after the QB. Teams would often line up 2 or 3 players in a spread behind centre. It was up to the centre to snap the ball accurately to the correct player without tipping off the opposing team as to which player was receiving the ball. Adelman always topped any "informal" list of all-stars during his career. For people who watched football throughout Canada, Adelman was often considered to be one of the tops in the country. Adelman's nickname was Rosy / Rosey / Rosie. This stems from one of his first football practices when he was a kid. The centre from the previous season was a kid named Rosenthal. The Coach referred to Adelman as "Rosy" and the name stuck. After his career, the Blue Bombers took Adelman's #1 out of circulation. It was not assigned to another player until the 1980's Disclaimer: my vote would have been for John Bonk but Adelman would have been a close second.

This is what you want for a premier? Because of a carbon tax from the NDP? We were getting either that or a provincial sales tax last time regardless so 6 of one half a dozen of the other. Kenney gonna cut taxes on the rich and starve the beast, that sounds lovely for regular Albertans like you and I. But hey, we can just all bootstrap ourselves up right? Kenney is garbage in a human suit, I am no NDP supporter but at least Rachel Notley has been a pragmatic leader, arguably the only one of her kind in Canada right now.
