I'm legit curious how you figure Burris was better than Ray. I'll give him credit where it's due though so I give Burris the edge in arm strength, scrambling, cross-dressing and pouting, but that's it!6 points

I think the logical thing to do if your QB is either too injured or too bad to not completely blow games by throwing the ball to the opposing defensive line is not to completely neuter your playbook but rather staple him to the bench and give a QB with some confidence at least a couple of games. The stubbornness with Nichols absolutely cost the Bombers at least two wins last season.4 points

The mental health angle is a political talking point spawned by the gun nuts nothing more. Mental health is a big issue that needs to be addressed, but it is a lot easier to restrict the ability to acquire fire arms so that nutters don't go shooting up public places. Tackle both issues.3 points -

I'm curious to know what the US is willing to do about any kind of "mental health crisis ". They are resistant to most kinds of publically funded healthcare and won't cover the cost of a bandaid for its poorest citizens. So pointing fingers at the "real issue " is clearly just deflecting.3 points -

Its actually hilarious when the white national trump supporters complain about this. Its like saying "sure, our guy is a serial killer, but you got a speeding ticket, so conspiracy!". Like Carter Page was a victim or something. Trump and his cronies are so awash in Russian collusion, its almost easier to believe its all BS then to believe they're that guilty. Its kinda like OJ Simpson. He was such a terrible killer and left so much evidence, his lawyers could say "no one can be this stupid, it has to be a set up." Nope, they're that stupid.3 points -
Is it Lapo though?? This is what I really want to find out this season. Because it seemed like once Streveler went in the ball was distributed around everywhere and that Nichols really struggled at making quick reads and always did the drop off?3 points
-
If you look at our recent playoff losses it's been the offence that's let us down. Lapo is predictable and is considered an average OC when compared to guys like Dave Dickinson. Dickinson can adjust on the fly and exploit the other teams defensive weaknesses. Lapo just keeps doing the same thing over and over again hoping for a different result.3 points

He dressed for 40 games as a rider including 17 in 2016... We got more out of him. Lapo utilized him in a role that was more suited to a running back turned receiver. Basically, the role that Flanders was in in late 2017. I don't see him a someone who would do well in Dressler's role.3 points -

Untangling Gun Violence from Mental Illness "The news often portrays people with psychiatric disorders as a danger to others, when suicide is the much greater risk." "Unfortunately, a consistent and dangerous narrative has emerged—an explanation all-too-readily at hand when a mass shooting or other violent tragedy occurs: The perpetrator must have been mentally ill." “We have a strong responsibility as researchers who study mental illness to try to debunk that myth,” says Jeffrey Swanson, a professor of psychiatry at Duke University. “I say as loudly and as strongly and as frequently as I can, that mental illness is not a very big part of the problem of gun violence in the United States.” The overwhelming majority of people with mental illnesses are not violent, just like the overwhelming majority of all people are not violent. Only 4 percent of the violence—not just gun violence, but any kind—in the United States is attributable to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or depression (the three most-cited mental illnesses in conjunction with violence). In other words, 96 percent of the violence in America has nothing to do with mental illness." https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2016/06/untangling-gun-violence-from-mental-illness/485906/2 points -
I wasn't a huge fan of Flair growing up but as I got older and was able to see more of his earlier stuff, thanks to the internet, the more I was able to appreciate him in his prime. He was a complete package back then and it's amazing to think of the career he had when you consider he was lucky to have survived a plane crash that broke his back in 3 places.2 points

You are wrong. Stamps missed passes for big plays too, that happens in a game. The problem for the Bombers is that they didn't try to make enough plays. Too reliant on Harris and safe passes when the Stamps were all over it. Calgary on the other hand attacked the Bombers D, who held on tremendously hut eventually broke after the offense failed to give them any support. The D played well enough to win that game, the offense hung them out to dry. We have the players on offense to take it to teams, we have seen them do it a lot the last couple years, but lapo won't let the horses run often enough.2 points

Legalities aside, generations of Americans have been brought up on the merits and power of individual rights and freedoms. One of these is the ability to not depend on government or any other aspect of US society to "defend themselves" You know, upright, (men) standing tall and unafraid, with steely eyes, wrapped in the flag. (NRA have piggybacked on this myth, brilliantly) Now of course, the Constitution's 2nd amendment was ratified in 1791 - when "bearing arms" was a different concept entirely: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" There are enough folks on the alt right, who haven't moved an inch intellectually, since them.....and still fantasize about forming militias to "deal with" immigrants, "big government", Jews and certain other religious groups, and various folks of race and colour. I have had opportunity to discourse with some of these people - both on-line, and from my days as a Civil War re-enactor...... who represent a perfect breeding and recruitment ground for some form of fascism.2 points -

Hey... Theres also a list out there that shows you how much the NRA has donated to individual members of both parties.. Its very Republican heavy. Republicans tend to BS and believe it.. Like they are either completely ignorant or just i dunno,, mom drank when she was pregnant stuff here.. Dems are full of it too.. But the new wave of Dems in the US do seem to actually want to make things better for ppl who aren't billionaires or false ones at that. The 1 percent.2 points -

Trouble is ....that issues like gun control have had political filters embedded in them for some time now. Makes it pretty hard to have a rational discussion, with a look to future solutions possible. The root of the problem, in the US, actually lies in historical impulses, and how Americans view themselves and the way they are governed. Guns are well intertwined with the flag and apple pie, as symbols of identity.2 points -

Oh please. Any criticism of Dems for "wanting to take away guns" when the GOP would rather have dead kids than gun control is absurd. If anyone is using kids as pawns to push an anti-gun narrative, so what? You think people dont care about dead kids? What, the Dems have some sort of benefit to wanting gun control? Yeah, its called not wanting people to needlessly die. Talk about barking up the wrong tree. "Those Dems are mean, they dont care about kids at all. We care about kids though...dead klds!" Would be hilarious if not so sad. What a joke.2 points -

Trump's day so far: - may have admitted to tax fraud as an alternative to conceding that he is a fake billionaire, saying he was "entitled" and it was "sport" to not pay any taxes and manipulate the banks - deemed to have lost at least twice as much money than any other person in the US between 1985 and 1994 - #billiondollarloser #1 trending on Twitter - son is being subpoenaed by the Senate - hand-picked Attorney General found in contempt of Congress - it came out that his chief evangelical endorsement used his personal "fixer" lawyer to help cover up a sex scandal - had a court ruling in NY decide that his tax returns should be turned over to Congress - pardoned a soldier convicted of first degree murder and branded a war criminal - woke to the news of another school shooting in Colorado - had to account for China backpedalling in almost all of its trade deal with the US - watched the S & P index fall for the 3rd straight day, 24 hours after seeing the Dow close 473 points down - invoked Executive Privilege to block the release of an investigative report on him that he claims completely exonerates him, and may have abused his executive privilege in doing so (by using his power to shield himself from an investigation into him, creating possible obstruction), thus opening another door to a justifiable claim for impeachment Not Trump bashing, just reporting the facts. So how was your day, everybody? And not to brag, but I made $1.17 billion more than Donald Trump between 1985 and 1994 (now THAT's Trump bashing!)2 points -

Frankly relieved Ray has finally decided to retire, the Argo O-line was unable to protect him well the last few years and he was never fleet of foot. He'd no sooner come back from one horrific injury only to be subjected to a gangland beating leading to his next horrific injury. It was too painful to watch. Glad he managed to pull off a G.C. win in 2017 but being close to a miracle, that should have been his last hurrah.2 points -
