So he makes 2 big hits and does nothing the rest of the year?

  9. I'd rather the new qbs get more of a chance to make the team. I'm pretty sure it's already set in stone that the 3 guys last year will be back with the same job this season.

Brian Bennett - “I needed to be out here and compete and do what I need to do,” said Bennett, who will get a challenge for his job from rookies Kevin Anderson and Sean McGuire. Both were on the field Wednesday. “We all realize that last year Matt and Chris had bigger roles than I did and for me I’m still battling every day. There’s reps out there that I don’t think I could afford to miss. “I had to think about it and make sure that it was the right decision for having my teammates backs. I talked to my teammates and they were in full support of my being here.” https://winnipegsun.com/sports/football/cfl/winnipeg-bluebombers/tentative-cba-deal-allows-for-joyous-opening-of-rookie-camp-for-bombers#click=https://t.co/6Px0cVUc0b

  12. It's not about you caring... You already like football. So how do we get people that wouldn't normally like football to like it...? We can try bringing in players from their country. Not saying it's immediately going to work, but it's a start. Not everything is all about you.

  14. yeah training camp seems like mostly an excuse for the reporters to catch up after the offseason. Bauming and Tait seem like the only guys who looks like they're working for the most part.

  22. So are they going to up the ratio if Americans start counting? By my count with this new rule, we can use Bighill, Bryant, Hardrick, Jefferson, Adams among our starting Canadians.
    3 points
  23. So at a time when Canadian talent and CIS talent has never been better - the CFL basically eliminates the ratio without saying it did... Jefferson, Bighill, Bryant - Imports who are now Canadians Wolitarsky - born in Canada grew up in states Canadian That means Gray, Jones, Thomas are now backups and possibly out of a job Why bother developing Oliviera/Augustine if you can sign a backup import RB and let Harris 'mentor' him until he's 'canadian'

  24. Interesting that between the rookie scale for draft picks and making imports NI's after 3 seasons the league is basically making it less attractive for the top Canadian players who have NFL shots.

  25. Today’s snips - mostly good news. 👁‍🗨Surprised to see Jalen Saunders released. 👁‍🗨Meaningful - 3 years of medical coverage for the CFLPA 👁‍🗨Canadian QBs - this could be helpful, especially in the future. 👁‍🗨Open work permits for internationals. That’s gotta help. 👁‍🗨👎Don’t like Streveler and Nichols not showing up today at rookie camp. 👁‍🗨Revenue sharing...good gain for the players 👁‍🗨I’d like to know who proposed getting rid of the Canadian Ratio.. 👁‍🗨Nice - the Desjarlais signing sooner than I expected. 👁‍🗨No more unpaid bonuses. Good news. 👁‍🗨3 year deal means the next negotiations will be heavily influenced by any negotiations with TSN, seeing as that’s when the current deal expires. Doesn’t matter now...we got football

I know it’s still early and reports may be on the way but it’s been an issue in years past. It drives me nuts how little content we get about Bomber camps from the Winnipeg media. I’d even take some tweets about who made a nice play or two. Why are these reporters at camp if they aren’t going to write anything beyond sappy human interest stories?

  31. So Streveler is our development qb... guy like Bennett is a great option at #3 because he has a bit of experience and if you need him he can bring a lot of things to the field. I got no problem with him hanging around as #3. Big arm, athletic, little experience... goes well with veteran #1, hotshot young #2.

ECW had a nice audience back when it was on the country channel (TNN). If AEW could get that kind of audience then that isn't a bad thing to start off with. When I watched ECW it didn't need to have roided up monsters like Hogan and Warrior. My favorite matches were ones that involved RVD, Jerry Lynn, 2 Cold Scorpio and Sabu. None of those guys are massive but they could put on great matches. I'd imagine they can get the 18 - 45 male audience by providing an edgier product. I don't think it need to go full blown ECW with staple guns and barbed wire ropes. It wouldn't hurt though if they had more storylines similar to Raven / Tommy Dreamer and if they didn't have cartoon character personalities like WWE.

  36. No chance it happens in TC.....only through injury or a lengthy spell of poor play, but I don't see it happening. If Nichols is back to 100% health, I think his game rebounds...

  37. No doubt it will be Nichols, Streveller & Bennett as 1,2 & 3. Bennett being familliar with the O and playing ST makes him a lock on #3.

  38. A new Utah nonprofit says it’s ready to combat drug shortages and price gouging, now that hundreds of hospitals have joined forces to form their own drug company and ensure a steady supply of some needed medications. Civica Rx — introduced earlier this year as Project Rx — will begin selling 14 generic drugs to hospitals next year, according to the organization's CEO and administrators from Intermountain Healthcare, which helped launch the project. "It only takes one generic company [to stabilize] a market if they are acting without a profit motive," said Intermountain executive and former Utah state senator Dan Liljenquist at a news conference Thursday. Intermountain is joining six other health care systems, representing some 500 hospitals, to set up long-term purchase agreements with "trusted manufacturing partners," said Civica CEO Martin VanTrieste, retired chief quality officer for the pharmaceutical giant Amgen. Civica is starting with 14 generic drugs, but organizers won’t say which ones until they are ready to sell. The drugs were chosen from more than 200 identified by doctors and hospital administrators as crucial for saving lives, but vulnerable to shortages and dramatic price spikes — especially those caused by what VanTrieste described as deliberate ploys by some drugmakers to exploit desperate patients. https://www.sltrib.com/news/2018/09/06/fighting-drugmakers-that/

  40. And you have 3 guys fighting for 1 job who have 3 days where their reps aren't being stolen by the 2 guys who are guaranteed jobs. Trying to look good throwing to rookie receivers who have never seen the field goal at the front of the end zone before. Hopefully they see it in time on that crossing route.

  48. This is a lazy answer but I'm gonna say I am pumped to see Andrew Harris back on the field. The dude is just such a joy to watch. Remember in that win against Calgary, when he took a 1-yard toss from Nichols, straightarmed the first tackler, got to the outside, spun away from yet another tackler, and powered to a first down on a play that looked like an easy sack? It's around 1:15 of https://www.cfl.ca/2018/10/27/recap-winnipeg-29-calgary-21/

  49. Hopefully, although that also opens up an easy loophole to get around the rule. Sign guys and put them on IR. The reporting so far is that this rule applies to the gameday roster and specifically the starting Americans, not including DI's. The NHL CBA certainly can put teams in a bind due to injury if the injured players don't fall under LTIR for cap relief and the team is too close to the cap to add another player. A few years ago Calgary had to play two players short. Most other leagues with CBA's have no roster restrictions, I wouldn't really count MLS as the players there are even weaker than the CFLPA.
