  1. My mom went into the bomber store years ago to buy me a jersey and Moreno was in there. She met him and said he was a good looking fella so she bought me his jersey. So pretty much I got his jersey because my mom had the hots for him.

This was an interesting catch up. I've been an idle lurker for damn near 3 months and I still knew corney retiring happened months ago.. Yogi, you missing it in the posts is on you man. Also, wtf crawled up your ass? Every single reply you've made in here has been completely dickish. You've got a point to make but its lost in the way you've chosen to bring it to light.. But hey.. have you considered this little nugget?? It was the freakin' offseason! Know what's probably gonna happen now that its preseason and close to go time? More people. More posts and quite possibly more threads! *gasp* Shocking, I know, that a site for a sports team might just slow down a tad over the off-season might be.. maybe relax on the BF you're pitching??

I just can't allow it. I won't be dragged back. Ha! Anyway, it was a pretty low key practice today. A fair bit of special times, skeleton drills (which, you know, hard to get excited about). Guys that stood out to me: Santiago- Explosive on returns. I expect him to rip a long one off next week. Ran the ball well in drills. Augustine- Running and catching he looks quick and smooth Whitehead- catching everything and he can turn a dig route into 50 yard gain. Dale Warren- I saw him bust up a few plays I the back field McCallister- He moves so well for a guy that big, I hope he shows well in the games and sticks around. Matt Hazel- got deep a few times and made some nice catches Not Booch level analysis. But in my defence it was bloody early for a Saturday

Some of you guys sound like my grumpy ol' grand dad. The team obviously had their reasons but I'm sure it wasn't part of some grandiose conspiracy theory. Maybe the player figured out leaving his family for 5 months, being paid in cdn dollars, paying rent in Canada and in the US, plus other expenses and limiting his job opportunities in the US as he can't commit to a full time job. Just isn't worth it. Lets concern ourselves with who's here and not who's not.

  13. I've never been to an NFL game but I got a similar experience when I painted our living room and then sat down and watched it dry. Same excitement but tickets were way cheaper.

  15. Hey- the seperate training camp days is a great idea- you should start a thread for each day of training camp. that is a very good suggestion, you should pull the trigger and do it. This is a community driven site- if you feel you its lacking in something, feel free to suggest and/or just add it. If it is unnecessary or inappropriate- the mods will take care of it. if you disagree with them, feel free to pm them and find out why or what happened. they are an approachable bunch.

  17. I've tentatively got a road trip booked to watch the bombers play in Edmonton that weekend but if that falls through, I will go to this. I'm not a huge NFL fan but it is probably never going to happen here again so why not? Plus the money helps the club so I'm good with that too.

  18. Perhaps he expected to start this year with the departures of Goosen and Chung but then realized the writing on the wall with Gray, Couture, and Desjarlais?

  19. Interesting. How is this just coming out now?

  20. Yeah, trading Foketi to Edmonton or Calgary would be a huge mistake.

  22. Day 6 Recap - Ed Tait Chris Humes “I got some really good reps in last year competing at a number of spots,” said the 24-year-old product of Birmingham, AL and Arkansas State. “That slowed game down a lot for me, because coming from the States there is a little learning curve. I’m comfortable now. “There are different concepts, playing with 12 (men), the ‘Waggle’, recognizing splits and depths. Once you get past the little hurdles you come out and make plays.” The Bombers defence has been rotating a number of players through the secondary in the first week of camp, with Winston Rose and Chandler Fenner now getting a lot of work at corner with the ones. But Humes is still in that mix. RB Brady Oliveira has been on the practice field for less than 10 days as a pro and the positive reviews keep pouring in for the Winnipeg product. “He’s good. He’s really good,” said head coach Mike O’Shea. “You see how stout he is. He’s got good feet and he’s shown everybody that he’s got the speed that we were hoping and thought he might. “He’s smart, he’s learning and he’s turning into a pro spending a lot of time making sure he’s learning the stuff that is maybe a little newer to him. He’s pretty complete. Running on the inside he can make people miss in a pretty small space for a big guy like that, for a guy of his weight, is pretty nifty to see. That’s all good. He can play the tackler a few different ways.” Asked about the secondary, Richie Hall : “We were in a staff meeting last night and there are a lot of guys that have caught our eyes. There have been some surprises and the guys have just continued to work to get better and that’s what you want.” Among those who stood out were DB Brandon Alexander, WR Lucky Whitehead, CB Chandler Fenner. https://www.bluebombers.com/2019/05/24/notes-camp-day-6-recap/

  28. Demski’s pumped.. “Last year I was a vet coming into a new team,” began Demski the other day in a chat with bluebombers.com. “I knew I had to come in here, work hard and prove myself and get comfortable with the playbook. This year is night and day with that. Obviously I’m still going to come out here and work hard, but I’m as comfortable as ever with this playbook. I’m comfortable with what LaPo (offensive coordinator Paul LaPolice) sees with this offence and what he wants to get done out here. “I made that adjustment last year. This year it’s about hitting it in full stride and taking off and running.” “It’s funny, a lot of people say the reason I came back was because it’s my hometown. That’s true, but it’s also just icing on the cake,” said Demski. “For me, I can’t wait to get that ultimate goal and bring it back to this city. I want to do right by this city. We’ve got a lot of Winnipeg guys here and it’s something we talked about all offseason. It’s time to do it now.” https://www.bluebombers.com/2019/05/24/want-right-city-demski-playing-hometown/

  32. I don't know where you came out from under but I live in Calgary & I didn't need separate multiple threads to know Trent Corney retired. You're just a little slow, that's all.
    3 points
  33. My vote is for more threads. Megathreads are OK in the off-season when there isn't much going on, but get in the way once the season starts IMO.

  34. Ouch in more ways than one. My first reaction was to gloat but the Bombers could be the next team to lose a key player.

  35. Meanwhile in Calgary, starting veteran OG Brad Erdos went down in a drill this afternoon similar to a ruptured Achillles. Supposedly no one touched him. A very unhappy Dave Dickenson told the media that it's a serious injury & Erdos could be out "long term". They have no one to back him up. Calgary doesn't have the depth it had in previous years. Huge blow to their OL.

  36. Given who we have here at the moment and pending arrival (Kongbo), as much as Corney had all the physical tools, he would have a hard time cracking the lineup this year.

To be fair if people want to start a new thread a subject go ahead. Its not a hard and fast rule we need large overriding threads for everything. If you feel its necessary to create a thread on a single event or transaction go ahead.

You're bringing up news from February and wonder why you missed it? 3 month old news would have been buried by now even if it had it's own thread so the fact that you missed it is on you, not the format of the forum.

  48. Sure thing- if you don't really care about a deep dive into Bomber news, the subreddit is great. I feel this site and ones like it, are more for the fans who want a deep dive instead of a general "skimming of surface" news. I am interested in minutiae of what's happening in the one on one drills and the 12 on 12s in training camp. I want to know that Adams had to get talked down by OSH after a full blown fight in main camp. I like to be informed of the post practice practice that Matthews is holding for the newer guys. I like the crazy insight some of the posters have about the game and our team ( @Booch, I'm looking at you!). The ever consistent dissenting opinions of a few certain posters. I like the community that has been foster here and the other site, good people all with interesting things to say and differing points of view. It's stuff like that I feel I get more out of this site than a subreddit.

Listen, if you're not around this site regularly (by regularly, I mean at LEAST once a day...) then we're not going to sit here and cater to you and create a thread for every little thing that happens. I love the super threads....it's the only way to do things. You don't cater to the "casuals"...you cater to the die hards who are on here all day every day and follow every bit of news as it happens...
