    2019 Main Training Camp

I just can't allow it. I won't be dragged back. Ha! Anyway, it was a pretty low key practice today. A fair bit of special times, skeleton drills (which, you know, hard to get excited about). Guys that stood out to me: Santiago- Explosive on returns. I expect him to rip a long one off next week. Ran the ball well in drills. Augustine- Running and catching he looks quick and smooth Whitehead- catching everything and he can turn a dig route into 50 yard gain. Dale Warren- I saw him bust up a few plays I the back field McCallister- He moves so well for a guy that big, I hope he shows well in the games and sticks around. Matt Hazel- got deep a few times and made some nice catches Not Booch level analysis. But in my defence it was bloody early for a Saturday

  9. Pre season action 1PM PT BC at Edmonton 3 Areas To Watch Number 2 Pivot: Who Steps Up? BC - Ricky Lloyd and first-year Leos Austin Apodaca and Cole Sears will handle the quarterback reps in hopes of getting a leg up on sticking behind Reilly on the depth chart. Edmonton- Danny O’Brian, Logan Kilgore, Briscoe. - One big observation in the first week of camp is the depth at receiver. Standouts at the position have included Joey Augustin, Marquis Bundy and Mexican additions Fernando Richarte and Gerardo Alvarez. All CFL clubs are required to keep one global player on their roster beyond training camp. - Defensive Line: Calling On Another Bookend With Odell Willis having another strong showing in camp, the big question remains who will line up as the other bookend. - Linebacker Adam Konar gets to battle some of his own teammates after he was cut loose and quickly picked up by the Lions on day one of camp. He’ll start at MLB https://www.bclions.com/2019/05/25/game-preview-lions-eskimos-2/?utm_source=dlvr.it 👁‍🗨Want an increase in attendance for CFL football in Toronto? 14. 6 Intriguing Players to Watch in the Preseason for each CFL Team Bombers: The Bombers have been building through quality scouting throughout the Kyle Walters era and are just now reaching their peak. That doesn’t mean their job is done however and there will be spots up for grabs in the receiving corps, defensive backfield and offensive line. 1. Mike Jones, DB, Temple Jones is strong in man coverage and breaks up passes with violent hands. How he adjusts to the intricacies of the CFL game remains to be seen, but he could develop into a shutdown player. 2. John Santiago, RB, North Dakota The back from North Dakota that everyone is excited to see is draft pick Brady Oliviera but he was part of a one-two punch. Santiago is a CFL quality back and while he’s a long shot to make the roster due to the ratio, the tape he produces might catch another team’s eye. 3. Thiadric Hansen, LB, Kiel Balt. (GFL) When you sleep in a bus station just so you can play for peanuts in Germany, you know you are passionate about the sport of football. Hansen is living his dream and it will be fascinating to see how his “at all costs” attitude translates on the field while trying to earn a job on special teams. 4. Asotui Eli, OL, Hawaii Perhaps the most talented lineman, and certainly the biggest wildcard, in the draft, Eli will be suiting up for the first time in a calendar year and winning a starting job is not out of the question. I’m excited to see how his injured knee holds up under the stress of gameplay. 5. Rasheed Bailey, REC, Delaware Valley State Bailey has turned a lot of heads in training camp and for good reason. He was absolutely explosive in college, blowing past defenders like they were pylons. He has bounced around a lot since college but could make a home in Winnipeg. 6. Matt Hazel, REC, Coastal Carolina Hazel got the attention of the Bombers at mini-camp and has maintained it early in training camp. He boxes out and high points the ball exceptionally well. With plenty of experience at various pro camps, Hazel seems committed to this latest opportunity. https://theratiobreaker.com/2019/05/26/6-intriguing-players-to-watch-in-the-preseason-for-each-cfl-team/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

  16. My quick two cents on the great thread debate of 2019. I dont post often. Usually come just to catch up on things. I personally dont mind it either way. If you have lots of threads then you have to scroll through pages to find older threads and if you have a few threads with lots of replies you have to scroll through pages. It is the same either way and you can't please everyone. The around the league offseason threads are a nice way to keep everything together and it doesnt take that long to scroll through and see where you left off. But I think big news topics should have there own thread. Big signings, big releases, major injuries etc. What we dont want is multiple threads discussing the same topic or the useless threads like what Andrew Harris had for breakfast. And because training camp is so short having one for each day is kinda silly. I like the one thread. Just my opinion.

  17. Stopped by this morning to pick up my tickets and watch some practice. Bad timing, I guess, because when I was there, they didn’t do a damn thing with a ball. I was lucky to even get my tickets, as there had been a power outage and the Bomber store was closed. Thankfully someone let me in to grab them. So, unfortunately I have absolutely nothing to report.

Republicans/Trump are now all out threatening the FBI, CIA. etc. Republicans are full steam ahead while playing a weak hand, with an unpopular leader. Using every nasty dirty questionably legal trick and inventing some new ones. Polite conventions, and fraternal rules, the system of government, basic honesty, none of those things mean anything to them. Democratic party thinks that Nancy Pelosi is smarter with words than Trump, and that's all they need to do. Nobody cares about her little war of words. She's winning that battle and losing the war. She/they are effrectively doing nothing, and hoping that some Judge somewhere will do their job for them. They are looking like a bunch of weaklings that run around yelling, and do nothing in the face of the assault. Usual weak crap from that bunch. Time to get off their ass and save their country. It's getting serious.

  24. I'm super interested to see the preseason game. This may be the most hype we've had ever for our new recruits McAllister, Richardson, Santiago, Whitehead, Bailey, Oliveira are guys that have consistently stood out in TC. I'm probably missing a couple guys too.

  26. I may go just to see the guys on bubble or with slim to no chance of making it..be good scouting at the least for the organization to get a look at some guys up close..possibly even talk with and sell the team to them I need a replacement too but been holding off..Dr McDonald told me to drop some mass since I dont play no more or bounce and it make it less bothersome so i reduced about 30 pounds off my frame since late March and made a huge difference..

  29. My mom went into the bomber store years ago to buy me a jersey and Moreno was in there. She met him and said he was a good looking fella so she bought me his jersey. So pretty much I got his jersey because my mom had the hots for him.

So... why do I even try to have a sterling credit rating? https://www.propublica.org/article/trump-inc-podcast-deutsche-bank-donald-trump?utm_content=buffer25ab1&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=buffer Never even considered the "**** off, I ain't paying for **** and it's your fault for this, so I'll see you court." 31. Reilly will feel right at home without an o-line in front of him, some stud receivers, and questionable D. Not sure how this season finishes any different than the last for him.

  36. Jim Van Pelt was drafted into the US military in 1960. Spent a 3 year hitch in the Air Force. When he got out the Bombers tried to re-sign him. He & his wife were the Bombers special guests at the 1962 Grey Cup in Toronto. Ultimately Van Pelt decided to turn down the Bomber contract offer & went into private business in Chicago. In 1959, Van Pelt separated his shoulder in the Western Final series & it was Ken Ploen who quarterbacked the Bombers to their Grey Cup win in 1959. Looking at the records though, he certainly was a great qb when he played. I agree that he should have been on the list & was a major oversight by all of us.

  38. Jim Van Pelt was the winning QB for the Bombers in 1958 and 1959. Actually beat out Kenny Ploen for the QB position but unfortunately had a short career. I don't know why, but he beat out who most on this board consider the greatest.

  39. Bart Starr legendary Packer quarterback passed away today at age 85. He won 5 NFL championships including back to back to back in 65, 66 & 67 & the first two Super Bowls. He was 85. He had suffered a stroke in 2014 & had been in failing health ever since. RIP Bart.

  48. Sure thing- if you don't really care about a deep dive into Bomber news, the subreddit is great. I feel this site and ones like it, are more for the fans who want a deep dive instead of a general "skimming of surface" news. I am interested in minutiae of what's happening in the one on one drills and the 12 on 12s in training camp. I want to know that Adams had to get talked down by OSH after a full blown fight in main camp. I like to be informed of the post practice practice that Matthews is holding for the newer guys. I like the crazy insight some of the posters have about the game and our team ( @Booch, I'm looking at you!). The ever consistent dissenting opinions of a few certain posters. I like the community that has been foster here and the other site, good people all with interesting things to say and differing points of view. It's stuff like that I feel I get more out of this site than a subreddit.

  49. One man's take: So my first 2 spots are easy here for me. The first is Jeff Nicklin. The man laid down his life for this country so we could enjoy our freedoms. I think WBBFanWest put it best: "Nicklin because there are all stars in games and then there are all stars in life. Greatest Bomber ever." Only Bomber to have a league trophy named after him. God bless. The second is Tom Casey. Did not get voted on to the all-time team, because he was too versatile to dominate at just one position and leave his mark there. He was a running back, receiver, punter, and defensive back and was an all-star at each position. Also placekicked and threw the odd touchdown pass. And just so he didn't define his legacy by his football prowess, he graduated in the same medical class at the U of M as my father and dedicated his later life to helping others as a dedicated doctor. I am tempted to just leave the third spot open, since an unsung hero comes up every game and deserves recognition, so I don't want to lock it down forever. But I'll throw out a few honourable mentions who, any one of them, could have the happy honker bestowed upon them: Pete Catan - for firing model rockets off his helmet into the stands during practice. I always thought this was the coolest thing growing up. Willard Reaves - for sharing his touchdown moments with the special needs children in the end zone, before the club commercialized it with non-game balls and corporate sponsorship. Another great sincere spontaneous moment that got re-packaged as a corporate branding opportunity. Cactus Jack Wells - for inventing the happy honker in the first place Bob Irving - how blessed are we to have this voice as our own for the past 45 years calling Bomber games? Whether I am in the stands watching the live action with my radio ear buds in, or listening to a short wave radio at the lake in mu childhood, or live streaming CJOB from across the globe, or even his foray into TV with the CFN, his call was the constant that brought me into that game and made me feel like I was "home", and was professional and top notch every time. Joe Pascucci - the unofficial club historian, thank goodness he had the foresight to save all the video from his time at CKND so we have a living video history of the club. "Carol" - Carol Barrott, but everybody knows her as just "Carol", and I swear she knows each and every fan personally in her role as ticket manager. She was born for that job, and has always gone the extra mile with any request, and is the not-so-secret engine that keeps the fan services and likely the whole club running. Dancing Gabe, Plungerhead, "Dave's Disciples", Jack Skelly, and every other "exceptional" Blue Bomber fan who stand out in a sea of Blue and Gold - also a shout out to any fans who have sat through 3 hour rain delays, or cut out of work to watch (and report on!) training camp. Diehards all, they are the lifeblood of this league.
