    2019 Main Training Camp

A beautiful even warm day today at our wonderful IGF for training camp with the loveLy Sarah Orlesky in attendance. I started watching, the offence was running no huddle plays against the defence. On the D #5 Jefferson was alongside #95 Thomas, #92 Nevis and #94 Jeffcoat. This combo has all kinds promise and showed it play after play after play. #5 applied all kinds of pressure and is just that impressive. Three men in stripes were out there blowing whistles to simulate game timing. The O had four qb’s. #15 Bernie and #17 the Kid’s timing wasn’t all there but by golly #18 Bennett was the most accurate tosser today and managed to scramble when he had to. #12 Sean McGuire appeared unremarkable. #3 Nelson was open by 15 yards and dropped a bomb right in his hands from Nichols. This caused a couple of fans to chuckle and yell “your cut”. #40 Santiago made a terrific snag and deceptive run during a screen play. All plays from scrimmage were passes, no runs, so couldn’t really tell what was up with the RB’s. But Harris was out there. #87 Whitehead had a remarkable 15 yard catch in heavy traffic. A couple nicks happened to #23 Gaitor (back) and a pissed off #79 Lachance (elbow)- he’s got size. Couple of other big mutthafuggas DL #99 Forde #91 Mccalister rotated along side #93 Roh and, I forgot, sorry. #6 Washington, teeny, fast and athletic ran back punts. Dressed but no pads and didn’t practice were #80 Matthews, but he was sticking his schnib into hear the huddle when practicing in the red zone. #4 Bighill also dressed, no pads and not activate but was taking pointers from Wade on the best buffets in town. #51 Hardrick, no pads but watching as well. The overall impression was a loose squad, not a lot of yelling or screaming. The addition of Jefferson to the D Line has me very excited after viewing the team today.

Obviously. I am showing support for my cousin, whom while I know is a very good long snapper, is not going to replace the incumbent, who is the best in the league without some sort of injury. Just having a little fun and if he does end up as this team’s long snapper after Rempel retires down the line, all the better.

bingoooo Everyone's preaching continuity being a big reason we're going to be able to compete hard this year and now all of a sudden, we're going to replace our absolute money long snapper for no reason whatsoever after he's built a serious rapport with our kicker? Nope.

  5. In those big centre's I think its time to start marketing them not like the other big major leagues. Have to price and market more like a minor league team (this is no dig at CFL). Tickets need to be cheaper between 15-50 bucks to get you in the door and concession prices need to be low. Need to have some sort of pull to bring people into the stadium other than the game. Once you get people in the building I think the game entertainment value is top notch and will bring people back again.

lol I know where you're coming from, no worries. FWIW, I think it'd be incredibly wise of this team to PR him either way, because we will eventually need him and yeah, he's definitely good at his job.

  10. I’m not just saying this because he’s my first cousin, he’s the best long snapper in the entire world. Perhaps the universe, I can’t speak for other planets.

  11. Sigh... 1) I agree with the notion that having an entire offseason split between two threads makes for cumbersome reading. 2) I remember certain members starting 10 different threads complaining about Richie Hall every time the Bombers allowed more than 20 points in a game, or starting a new topic every time a leaf fell from a tree, which was beginning to cause others to consider self-harm, and was a contributor to threads getting trimmed. 3) Trent Corney was a bad example to pick as he hadn't dressed for the Bombers in about 10 months and if this became a topic it would have long been buried on page 4 by now. 4) Manase Foketi not being at camp is a great example of a topic considering every person outside the Bomber organization, and perhaps a few inside the organization, thought he was on the field the entire time. 5) While anyone can start a thread at any time, as soon as they do there are people here who demand the mods to merge it into the two main threads. 6) The main reason I spend less time here and almost never post anymore is because of how incredibly childish adults seem to behave. As evidenced over the last 24 hours when a simple idea was thrown out, and yes, it had been thrown out before. 7) This is a privately-owned website maintained by volunteers, and I am getting something for nothing, and I am thankful for both the something that I get and the nothing that I have to give. Thanks Rich and team. 😎 But if you make 8 points you do get a free pair of sunglasses!! I will wear them to the game Friday!! Bomber football!!

    a) Which districts? Name them. b) If there was so much voter fraud, then why did the Pence/Kobach commission disband without finding any? c) Trump said that millions of people voted illegally in 2016, costing him the popular vote. Now, Trump exaggerates, so let's say that it was actually only a million people who voted illegally. However, a conspiracy to have a million people vote illegally would be a conspiracy involving a million people. Like, the entire province of Manitoba. Do you think the entire province of Manitoba can keep a secret for three years? So then, where are the whistle-blowers? How did the vote-stealing democratic party keep all of those million people from blowing this thing wide open on Fox News? How did the democrats keep all million of them from contacting the 2017 voter fraud commission, which was very eagerly casting about for tales of voter fraud? I gotta say, again, these supervillain democrats of your imagination are way more capable than the ones we have in reality. more's the pity.

  16. Day 9 Recap Brady Oliveira- “For me, I’m just looking forward to that game and finally to put on that jersey with my last name on it and to finally go against an opponent rather than my teammates,” began Oliveira after a late Monday afternoon practice. Kenny Lawler - “He’s caught a lot of footballs that have been around him… and some of them sometimes aren’t near him and he still catches them,” said head coach Mike O’Shea. “He’s shown everybody here that he’s got exceptional focus and very good hands. Those are obviously very positive things for a receiver.” Michael Couture - “We’re a physical, tough offensive line that knows what it is doing. It plays as a unit. I’ve seen it from 2016 and with how little change there’s been they’ve been able to keep that standard high. It’s something I’ve loved being a part of and want to help uphold.” https://www.bluebombers.com/2019/05/27/notes-camp-day-9-recap/

  28. Whales Seen In Hundreds Off NYC Shores, Drawn By Cleaner Waters Whale sightings in New York City waters have jumped from 5 to 272 since 2010. NEW YORK, NY – Staggering numbers of whales are being sighted off New York City shores as vastly cleaner waters have caused a 540% increase in the numbers of the massive mammals in just eight years. Experts at the Rockaway-based non profit Gotham Whale started tracking sightings in the area in 2010 – counting just five. Last year, they spotted an awe-inspring 272, almost all humpbacks. The rise is monumental and points to the success of environmental policies such as the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act and the Marine Mammal Protection Act, Gotham Whale's founder said. https://patch.com/new-york/new-york-city/whales-seen-hundreds-nyc-shores-drawn-cleaner-waters

Forgot to mention the Lucha Bros/Young Bucks match. I really liked that one as well. Overall, I think my favourite part of the show was how well balanced it was. You had fun matches, athletic matches, violent matches, story based matches, brawls, women's matches, singles, tags, young guys, legends, guys in their prime. Just a really great mix.

Just heard MOS explain that even though they have a couple of others who can long snap in camp, they are slightly knicked up. Therefore, in order to help Rempel out, and take a look at a newbie, they’re giving young Zach a look see.

  35. Ignore Rempel's age. When he starts showing that he can't do the job, then he can be replaced. As of yet, that's not happened. He's 38 going on 28, in my books.

  36. I don’t have an attachment to him. I just hate keeping players when they’re past their expiration date, especially when we have the next messiah of long snappers. I i think the chemistry between medlock and his long snapper is a little over rated. We need someone who can put the ball right in the money, everytime, that some is unquestionably #cousinzach #freecousinzach

We have two of the quirkiest players, and best in the league, in Rempel and Medlock. This staff knows that. I believe it’s all part of the plan in signing this young fellow and that they have talked to him about it. Know your future. Respect your past.

  38. In his time here Remple has had one bad snap so no he can do this for a while long yet. But its smart of Walters to have a guy who will be on PR that can step in if there is a injury.
    2 points
  39. when you have the best kicker/punter in the league, and he is as "quirky" as they come, you don't mess with the tools he needs to get the job done. His snapper being priority #1.....Rempel's going nowhere. But good to have a local kid learn from a vet.
    2 points
  40. Wow there sparky. I know you have a personal attachment but you don't cut a proven vet who's one of the top long snappers in the league. I'm all for giving the local kid a chance and I'll be rooting for him but he's proven absolutely nothing so far. Take a breath and let him earn his shot.

And also Texas: Texas secretary of state resigns after leading botched voter purge that questioned the citizenship of almost 100,000 people "Texas’s acting secretary of state, David Whitley (R), resigned Monday just months after leading the botched voter purge of nearly 100,000 suspected noncitizens that erroneously also targeted U.S. citizens, efforts that drew rebukes from a federal judge and numerous voter rights groups." "He revealed the investigation in January, causing unsupported fears of rampant voter fraud while emboldening Republican politicians who had made similar voter fraud claims — including President Trump. Whitley’s office had claimed that, of 95,000 suspected noncitizens, 58,000 had voted in at least one Texas election over the last 18 years. Letters sent to all those suspected noncitizens threatened to disenfranchise them unless they proved their citizenship within 30 days. But there was a problem: Nearly a quarter of those identified as possible noncitizens were actually naturalized citizens ― a realization the secretary of state’s office made just four days after its initial announcement. Numerous voting rights groups sued on behalf of threatened eligible voters, in three separate federal lawsuits, and Congress opened an investigation into the alleged voter suppression efforts. In February, a federal judge blocked Texas from carrying out its “ham-handed” and “threatening” voter purge effort, saying there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud. The letters sent by the secretary of state’s office to thousands of eligible voters threatening to cancel their registration, U.S. District Judge Fred Biery wrote, “exemplifies the power of government to strike fear and anxiety and to intimidate the least powerful among us.” He placed the blame squarely on Whitley’s shoulders, encouraging him to fix the problems while referencing a kindergarten-friendly lesson. “The Court further finds and concludes the Secretary of State, though perhaps unintentionally, created this mess,” Biery wrote in his Feb. 27 order. “As Robert Fulghum taught in ‘All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten,’ ‘always put things back where we found them and clean up our own messes.’” https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/05/28/texas-secretary-state-resigns-after-leading-botched-voter-purge-that-questioned-citizenship-almost-people/?utm_term=.99032c51c616

Finally finished watching it tonight, I like the flippy guys/gals best and there was plenty of that, so I was happy. Really dug the joshi event, hope that AEW keeps pushing that. I've seen the Lucha Bros on TV a lot and live twice, I'm a big fan of those guys, and it was great to see them against a team that can go as good as they can, maybe even better -- most matches I see of theirs, they're slowing down because their opponents can't match their speed. It's a weird match when Pentagon is the slowest guy in the ring. Wasn't so much into the big name matches otherwise, after the relentless pace of the earlier matches, the main event felt a little slow for me.
