  8. 2 certainly is. Hence why they pulled him early cuz they saw the lack of time and protection he was getting. If Lucky Whitehead keeps running his route on Strevs first pass... TD.
    2 points
  9. Well he does have two career games where he passed for 75 yards. Streveler only has five games where he threw for more than 100 yards.

  10. I don't see anyone giving up on Streveler. I see the Nichols guys pointing out that Streveler didn't play well cuz it works for their argument that we need to start Nichols.

  11. I do not. I’m much lower on Demski than most around here. He’s a good athlete but a very limited receiver.

  12. Camp Day 14 Recap The Bombers rotated a number of O-linemen into the fray against the Eskimos. For what it’s worth, the team started Delroy Baker Jr. and Jamar McGloster at tackle, Drew Desjarlais and Geoff Gray at guard and Michael Couture at centre. At Sunday’s practice the O-line featured Hardrick and Stanley Bryant at tackle, with Gray and Speller at guard and Couture at centre – although the bodies continued to be rotated in and out throughout the session Training camp can be as much a war of attrition as anything. And as evidence, we give you cornerback Amari Coleman, who quietly moved up the depth chart and has been working with the starting defence with Winston Rose, Chris Humes and Marcus Rios all injured. Cut-down day for all CFL teams is this coming Saturday. O’Shea was asked if there might be moves before the weekend and said: “We’ll see. We’ll be talking personnel every day this week, but we’ll see where that plan takes us.”… https://www.bluebombers.com/2019/06/02/notes-camp-day-14-recap/

    The Music Thread

Napster and the illegal music sharing platforms of the time were killing the music industry and letting people download single songs. iTunes and the iPod gave people an easy way to pay for legitimate music the way they wanted and were going to one way or another. Agree that iTunes has become a bloated mess and it’s time has come. Not a big fan of streaming either, but at the same time, most people just don’t seem to want to buy music anymore.

  18. Gawd help us if a Mexican or global player becomes an above average player. Roddy will make sure you remember the name and where he is from enough times during a game and the rest of the season so that you will never forget it.....ever...for the rest of your life...and beyond....

  20. I heard Rod Black describe Mexico as "Central America" - what a f***ing bonehead. The QB play for both Ham-Ott in this game, the playcalling and offence in general looked to be way ahead of where the Bombers appear to be at this stage. In fact, the overall speed, compete level and violence in the Ham-Ott game made Bombers vs Esks look like pixies playing in fairyland. Hayden Moore and Dane Evans are going to be good replacements for Masoli when he gets hurt. Crockett and Sumpter look to be excellent receiver finds for the Cats. Dom Davis looked unsurprisingly good for the Redblacks (I have always been a Dom Davis fan) and he should be the starter there ahead of Jennings - in fact #3 QB Danny Collins looked better than Jennings. DeVonte Dedmon looks like a real find at WR and returner for Redblacks.

  30. Part of it was this was our 1st X game and Edmonton 2nd so Maas was being a **** and blitzing all game
    1 point
  31. Well, that could be, but I kinda hope the Riders don't sign him if that's where we put him because he looked more capable than even old Zac C out there last night.
    1 point
  32. Not to mention he's only played just two series of that one which tells me with the OL in the shape it is, our coaches weren't going to risk losing him. Although I will say out of what I saw of our other two, we could have a pretty capable backup set. What we decide to do when Strev's rookie contract is over will be then and there. But I somehow wouldn't doubt a plethora of East teams not named Hamilton will be in the market for buying current backup QBs, and Strev did enough in real actual games with the first teamers last year and will probably get a chance again this year that his hat will be in the ring.
    1 point
  33. No no, I don't think it's a disaster by any means, just didn't see anyone 'pop'. Thinking back through the years I can remember a few receivers coming in and stealing the show in preseason (though some burned out quick) and we haven't had a single one in five years of Walters. It's just disappointing because I think they've done a great job everywhere else on the roster.

  34. We’re giving up on Strev after four series without Adams, Matthews and Andrew Harris? Boy oh boy.
    1 point
  35. The absolute best possible thing to happen to Nichols was that he didn’t play last night. We will never know but I sincerely doubt he’d have put up numbers any better than Bennett. He’s being given the Reilly treatment by this staff when he really should be getting as many game reps as possible after last season. I do however, begrudgingly admit he looked a lot more slender on the sideline. Not sure if it means anything but it was noticeable.

  36. I'm with you Chip. I mean, come on, they had the whole off season to work the rust off. They should all be in mid season form from play 1 of the pre season. The fact that each of them didn't throw for 300 yards and at least two touchdowns, in their fist game, working with new receivers and a thrown together O line clearly shows that we need to burn this team down and start over. Season's already done. Life sucks. All is darkness.

  37. Lol at people giving up on Streveler he had zero time in the pocket and was given low percentage plays. Yeesh. Whiteheads issue is more concerning because he had chances to run it up but choose to go side to side. I'd much rather have Nelson returning. I'll take the guy who gives us positive yards then the guy who will break one big one but then lose 10-20 on every other one.
    1 point
  38. Well, the coaches have to make decisions as to the depth positions behind Nichols. If Streveler struggles again, do they simply fall back on last year's play & he gets the backup role by default or go with what they see in real time? Going to be interesting.
    1 point
  39. A great season as a raw rookie isn’t undone by two pre-season games. By that logic, Nichols would have been usurped three quarters of the way through last season never to be heard from again.
    1 point
  40. This, I don't get the knock on Strev for running. What do people want him to do? Sit back and be a sitting duck getting knocked around the way Max Hall or Drew Willy were? Ridiculous. I get that 15 passing yards are nothing to brag about, but in preseason I don't think coaches care about that. I don't care either if Nichols gets sub 200 yard games again this year, especially if the running game and defense are working.
