Americans must accept that none of these things ever happened By Dana Milbank Columnist June 3 at 7:12 PM Oh no, he didn’t. I believe President Trump when he says “I never called Meghan Markle ‘nasty.’ ” I believe him even though Britain’s Sun newspaper published an interview with Trump the day before in which he referred to the Duchess of Sussex with that very word — and even though the Sun has a recording. Likewise, I believed Trump when he visited Britain last year and said “I didn’t criticize the prime minister” – even though the Sun also had a recorded interview of him that time, criticizing Prime Minister Theresa May. And I am fully prepared to believe Trump tomorrow if he says “I never called Sadiq Khan a ‘stone cold loser’ ” — even though Trump, landing in Britain on Monday, called the London mayor just that in a tweet that misspelled Khan’s name and also mocked him for being short. I believe all this and more because the alternative is unthinkable: that our great nation inflicted on the world a president who is, well, a stone cold loser, boorish and ignorant. Therefore I plan to do as Trump does: live today as if yesterday never happened. But it’s not enough to imagine away this week’s name-calling. To preserve national dignity, Americans must accept that none of the following ever happened: Trump did not shove the prime minister of Montenegro and he didn’t declare that he “fell in love” with the dictator of North Korea. He didn’t hang up on the Australian prime minister, nor attack the pope on Twitter. He didn’t use a phony accent to imitate the Indian prime minister, nor make fun of Chinese leaders’ eyewear. He didn’t refer to African nations and Haiti as “shithole countries.” At no time did Trump confuse the Baltics with the Balkans. Never did he tastelessly comment on the French first lady’s body. He certainly did not invent the country of “Nambia,” nor did he boast about selling Norway a fighter jet that only exists in a computer game. He didn’t mispronounce Nepal as “nipple.” Under no circumstance did Trump assert that “there is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea,” nor did he believe North Korea’s dictator over Japan’s prime minister. He most definitely did not land in Israel and announce: “We just got back from the Middle East.” He didn’t skip a visit to a U.S. military cemetery in France because of a little rain. He didn’t accept Vladimir Putin’s word over that of U.S. intelligence, and when told “do not congratulate” Putin on his rigged election victory, he did not congratulate. He didn’t refer to Brussels as a “hellhole” nor assert that “Belgium is a beautiful city.” And spellingthe British prime minister’s name as that of a British porn actress? Never happened. His administration didn’t confuse Singapore with Indonesia and China with Taiwan, nor misidentify the Australian prime minister, nor misspell “Denmark.” Not once did Trump vow to “promote the possibility of lasting peach” in the Middle East. Trump simply did not advise the French to dump water on Notre Dame Cathedral from the sky, nor did he claim that Finland avoids fires by “raking” forests. He didn’t fabricate trade figures in talks with the Canadian prime minister. Neither did he falsely accuse South Africa of “large scale killing” of farmers, nor volunteer any thoughts, ever, on “what happened last night in Sweden.” Trump, furthermore, did not sign the guest book at Israel’s Holocaust memorial with the words “so amazing.” He didn’t pull his name from a Group of Seven communique. He didn’t take a limousine and a golf cart instead of walking with other world leaders at summits. He didn’t struggle with a group handholding exercise in Manila, his knuckles didn’t whiten in the grip of Emmanuel Macron, and Melania Trump did not swat his hand away on the tarmac in Tel Aviv. Furthermore, Trump did not reveal secret Israeli intelligence to Russia. He didn’t accuse Germany of being “totally controlled by Russia.” He didn’t taunt the French over street protests, attack the idea of NATO, use an all-caps tweet to threaten Iran with annihilation, hail “fantastic” strongmen nor pine for the reign of Moammar Gaddafi. Fortunately, it has all been a misunderstanding. For if an American president had actually done even a fraction of the above, it would be an indelible national disgrace.

  2. People are taking this too literal. Who knows what goes down between the organization and the players in private. Obviously he doesn’t want to be playing football right, it’s just a very vague answer. He’s not going to throw Thompskins under the bus he has too much class for that.

  5. Coach’s Show - June 3 Typical show. Centre battle is close - Michael Couture, Cody Speller. Desjarlais and Gray...playing well. Looking nasty. Foketi - hopeful that he’ll be in their plans. 👁‍🗨Myself, I don’t see it. Thompkins - Just hard to get a hold of him. 👁‍🗨I think he’s gone. Eli - picking up the game very well after sitting out a year. “Lot of upside on players. Be very hard to keep them all. For now, and the building a future roster.” - O’Shea Bye week in second week allows decisions to allow nicked up players to heal another week with their present roster. 👁‍🗨In case there’s any doubt.. “It’s Nichols team. Streveler will play a huge part for this team.” Bennett and McGuire will play Thursday. Key areas to focus on Thursday- o-line, dbs, receivers, QB.

Some really tough choices coming up for the coaching staff. DL is really deep. If we parted ways with Roh and Nevis that'd free up a good chunk of money for NFL cast offs. Jefferson, Jeffcoat, Richardson, and Bryant would give us a great line. Di McCallister and roster jake Thomas as the back up interior guy. Griffiths and Lachance are both interesting guys, but I think only Griffiths sticks around. On the OL I think speller and couture are neck and neck. But experience will get couture the nod. Along with gray, Neufeld, Bryant, and Hardrick. I think Desjarlais will be the 6th man. Which leaves a choice to hide Eli or speller. I think Eli's upside has a big edge for being the guy to hide/develop. Even RB. Obviously, no one will supplant Harris. I can't see Augustin beating out Oliveira. Brady just has too much raw talent, size, and skills (hands). Even then Augustine has done everything asked of him and deserves to be on a roster. Santiago looks dynamic and dangerous but I can't see where we would work him in or a reason to keep him on the PR with the above 3. The last preseason game is going to be huge for Mccallister, Bryant, Richardson, Nevis, and Roh. I feel like the contracts will make it hard for Nevis and Roh to outfight the new guys for spots. The young 3 are just soo explosive. I expect to see the starting core of the OL in front of Nichols, which is going to make the last guys even harder.

  9. 2017 seems like a poor draft, although if Gray is who we think he is and plays 5-10 years, this opinion will change.

  12. He played in the final week of the season in a garbage game ? Aside from that he had 6 games where he had only zero or one completions? He had only 39 pass attempts with Ottawa and 29 with Winnipeg the season before.... hardly more of an opportunity.

Clinton- yes and if the case reopens to find Clinton raped underage women, the full weight of the law should come down on him. Same with Prince Andrew, Alan Dershowitz, Donald Trump and anyone else. Don't know where you got Podesta, but the only people claiming that are QAnon (which makes a lot sense when I reflect on all your posts). You know who really looked the other way on this? Try Epstein's lawyers: Alan Dershowitz (you'll note he's implicated as a suspect as well), Ken Starr and Gerald Lefcourt. For those who don't know Gerald Lefcourt, he married into the Sackler family (Purdue Pharma) who now have 36 states suing them over their aggressive marketing and distribution of oxycontin (they own Oxycontin!) without proper oversight. It's a real den of snakes here. Oh oh oh - one more thing. The U.S. State Attorney of South Florida that bypassed normal legal processes to give Epstein a sweet hush hush deal is Alex Acosta, current Secretary of Labour for Donald Trump. Talk about looking the other way. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/article220097825.html How a future Trump Cabinet member gave a serial sex abuser the deal of a lifetime https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/pa5zyv/the-jeffrey-epstein-story-is-fanning-the-flames-of-far-right-pedophilia-panic The Jeffrey Epstein Story Is Fanning the Flames of Far-Right Pedophilia Panic https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a12775932/sackler-family-oxycontin/ The Secretive Family Making Billions From the Opioid Crisis

  18. Absolutely. For us, Gray is the only one left. Now if we get 5-10 years of him as a starting OL that is still a decent draft to me.Yeah but looking at that draft not too many teams did well.

Nice guide, good read for those that want a bit of clarification from "legalese". Guide to the Mueller Report’s Findings on “Collusion” "What follows is a detailed guide to the Mueller Report’s evidence on collusion. The analysis discusses affirmative evidence and countervailing evidence in the Report, references the Special Counsel’s court filings and reliable news reports that help shed additional light on information in the Report, and identifies significant loose ends that the investigation was unable to answer." https://www.justsecurity.org/63838/guide-to-the-mueller-reports-findings-on-collusion/

  28. We're there in week 4. I'm not sure if we'll need to show blitz on every play, as our front 4 may be able to get to him anyhow, but I would certainly consider it. It would keep him on his toes watching for a combination of Bighill, Jeffcoat, Jefferson, etc. coming in for the hit. Never mind the interior guys who should be able to push through too.

  31. Chris Streveler Fleet-footed Bombers’ sophomore Streveler working on becoming well-rounded quarterback.. “I definitely don’t ever go into a play thinking, ‘OK, I’m gonna run it on this play,’” Streveler said. “You’ve got to go through your reads and then if things break down, it’s definitely a tool that you have in your toolbox. If things don’t look right or things are breaking down, you can incorporate that into your game.” “I’m never saying on any particular play, ‘I can’t wait to run.’ You’re a quarterback and however you can put a drive together and move the ball, that’s your job.” While Streveler says he doesn’t want to “overuse or rely” on his scrambling ability, O’Shea doesn’t see that as an issue. “I think he’s pretty damn good,” O’Shea said. “His style of play and his game are very effective for him and for us. If it was a case where he’s missing touchdowns all over the field, you would show him those and he would learn from them, but that’s not the case. He’s gained enough experience to know the times to stand in and throw and the times to take off and go. He’s very effective in that regard.” https://winnipegsun.com/sports/football/cfl/winnipeg-bluebombers/fleet-footed-bombers-sophomore-streveler-working-on-becoming-well-rounded-quarterback#click=https://t.co/kLUBoLX9EX 👁‍🗨Can’t wait to see what’s in store for Streveler this year with a particular set of plays designed with him in mind..

As much was i would love to see impeachment proceedings start, i don't see it happening. The REP hold the senate and aren't going to vote to impeach. All the REP house and senate members are a disgrace. They are locked on that this is a DEM vs REP issue, when its really A REP and DEM vs a Corrupt President issue. The Reps need to realize that trump is corrupt and made many different attempt to obstruct justice and let him burn on his own. Purging trump before the next election is their best chance for redemption. But i hope they go down in flames like the morally corrupt tire fire they are.

  36. I would hope that we are going to keep Speller around as well as Eli. I think Speller would have some trade value and also some insurance in case they made the wrong choice going with Couture. I personally feel like Speller is probably the better center but if Couture is going to be a part of this team long term he's gotta win a starting job now and they are going to give it to him even if Speller is on par with him.

  39. In his brief times in Calgary, Winnipeg & Ottawa he's been nothing but a vanilla type qb with his playing style. If anything, I've found him to be underwhelming for the most part. Never set himself apart from other qbs with the same level of league experience.
