  1. Way better than letting him get on the plane, punching the pilots, throwing Nichols' comfort squirrel out the window which makes the plane depressurize and 12 players get sucked out before Bryant plugs up the window... Since we've apparently moved into the "making up crap" portion of the show...

  2. Just so you know how this will work, until the Bombers are going for their 11th straight win from the start of the season, the answer will always be 1960. Are you from Saskatchewan?

  3. From the MBB pick ‘ems Calgary @ Ottawa - 50-2 Toronto @ Edmonton - 7-45 Winnipeg @ Hamilton - 48-4 Saskatchewan @ BC - 22-30 Some CFL tidbits to ignore.. Some remarkable stats... Despite being 1-5, the BC Lions have recorded the most first downs this season (130). This season, teams that trail at the half are 5-15; team trailing after the third are 2-19. Saskatchewan’s Solomon Elimimian (757) is 10 defensive tackles away from surpassing Greg Battle (766) for 7th on the all-time list. Toronto generated just 3 TD drives in the first 3 games - they have 5 TD drives in their last 2 contests. Edmonton has failed to score on Offence in 2 of their last 3 games. They have 3 TD drives in their last 48 possessions. Toronto is a league-low -13 thus far and this has translated onto the scoreboard. Of the 188 points they have allowed thus far, 66 have come after their own Turnovers. A whopping 35%! Calgary is ranked #7 BOTH on Offence (44%) and Defence (allowing opponents to convert 54.5% of the time). A new analytic for 2019 shows that they have faced the highest average "yards to go" on 2nd down. On average they have been in 2nd down & 8.2 yards - the most in the CFL (CFL-wide average is 2nd-&-7.3 yards to go). In their 31-1 loss at Winnipeg, the REDBLACKS got no closer than the Winnipeg 40-yard line with their offence. Of their 51 offensive plays, just 5 were run in Winnipeg territory.

  4. It's possible. They brought an OL in yesterday but didn't end up signing him as he wasn't heavy enough. (Never trust people's Tinder profiles).

  5. I honestly don't really care about Chris Matthews right now. He has missed basically the whole season and we are doing just fine. He is not someone who has shown to be a proven commodity for us. He has barely been able to get on the field

a little tidbit that's been talked about ad nauseum for the last two weeks...

  7. Most of Matthews money was paid upfront...so cutting him would be dumb and a waste and as season moves forward isn't much of a cap hit
    5 points
  8. Because we don't need to make a knee-jerk reaction, are not troubled by the cap and know what Matthews can do? Geez, I don't understand the rush to drop someone so fast.

  9. considering a third of the team was apparently there...and nobody knows the actual story...and it hasn't grown legs in the media...and the police havn't pressed charges...and nobody on social media has posted anything (and in this day an age where people whip out phones at anything and everything to post online is odd) ...and nobody was released/cut/suspended then yeah it's pretty obvious this was a whole big about nothing incident. I sure the coaches sat the team down and had a chat with them to make wiser choices and something like this better not happen again...but other than that is probably a forgotten matter now

  10. what else do you want to spend the money on? And if one of our receivers goes down to injury, then what? If guys like Lawler are making league minimum, what does it matter what Matthews is making while he waits?

  15. On Matthews, you keep him around. For one, likely a nice portion of his salary has already been paid through it being 1/3 of the way into the year + vets usually getting bonus $ up front. Second, its nice to have depth, especially when its a long season. Third keeps him away from other teams. Sometimes you have to play the waiting game and be patient, otherwise you make decisions like this guy

  17. this is completely where I'm at....there's a lot of people worked up that he's not playing, and some going so far as to "blame" MOS for some egregious mistake of not playing him, and I'm like "Why??" Where do we need him right now?

  20. One of the receivers for sure, probably Matthews or Lawler. Can't see Bombers using Jones as dimeback and only having the two rookie kick chasers as backups for the secondary along with Wright who just got here. Hamilton is a heavy passing team, about 65/35 pass run even with Thomas Erlington. Likely more without him. I suspect we will see a lot of downs where the Bombers have the dime in and only 5 guys between DL/WIL/MLB until they get a feel for how Hamilton has game planned offensively (basically how much are they using Kalinic and a back vs Jones/Coombs and a back).

  21. Bilikudi was a 3rd rounder that we took a flyer on but kinda knew he wasn't real interested but in the 3rd round what the hell. Mulumba might be a more apt comparison.
    3 points
  22. Yeah could see us slotting in Matthews in Humes spot...Wright has and can play in the backfield if need be and come in as the extra db...and as mentioned..we have played games with no DB as one of th DI's this year
    3 points
  23. I would probably prefer Walker be scratched as well. Humes could be an option too. We've had games without a DI DB before. We also have Wright in the lineup which is a change from weeks past.

A day later, the Jaguars contacted him for the first time and six weeks later, they signed him as an undrafted free agent."

  31. Having an extra db helps the team a lot more than dressing a 2nd backup American receiver.

  32. Ekakatie blew his Achilles out and never recovered. Not a good comparison. Mulumba is pretty solid. But even he had interest in the CFL he just wanted to be paid too much.

  33. Other piece is we want our special teams guys fresh because Hamilton is dangerous on returns. I don't want Hallett or Exume trying to figure out how to play DB in the CFL and then covering a punt two minutes later.
    2 points
  34. I don't know how much you can blame Tabbies...Chapman showed up to CFL combine. That shows interest IMO. Lots of guys don't show, especially guys going for the NFL or who don't want to play at all.
    2 points
  35. The big difference between Chapman and all these guys is that the NFL showed zero interest in him before or shortly after his draft and he still never even considered the CFL. He didn`t show up for the Draft camp either. I`m really unsure what made Hamilton think he would play when every indication was that he had zero interest in the CFL.

So wait, if the defence is this good, isn’t it obvious why we have so many two and outs? To get our amazing defence on the field as much as possible! Makes sense to me!

  46. Don’t know where to put this, but I went and watched Wolitarsky’s set at Earl’s tonight. First off, he was actually super good. Second, him and Streveler were super stoked that my buddy Ray and I had their jerseys. Thirdly, Matthews was there and looked very unstabbed. Good turnout - Strev, Demski, Willie, Stove (played a couple songs), Lawler, Sayles, Humes, Speller, Lucky, Rose, Nelson (walking boot) and Petermann all showed to support.

  47. Some Interesting stats for the bombers and cats. 5 games in the cats are tied for the most Yards Per Carry given up on defense. Tied with the argos, the only team to give up more rushing yards then the cats. The bombers have given up the fewest yards by a mile, and the 2nd fewest YPC against. We have also not given up a rushing TD yet. The Pass D is remarkably similar for the cats and bombers. 1393-1330 passing yards against, 56.1 - 59.1 completion % against, 7.1-7.8 YPA, 4tds-8ints and 2tds-4ints. (the first stat in each category is the bombers number) The cats have 18 picks on D this year to the bombers 9. The bombers have the 2nd best rushing attack in the cfl, while the cats are 6th. The cats have the 2nd most passing yards and we have the 2nd fewest. Its a battle of the 2 best punt return teams, and 2 of the 3 best kick off return teams. A big factor will be the bombers are top 3 in avg and net avg punting where the cats are 7th and 5th respectively. hamilton have given up the 2nd fewest sacks and we have the 3rd fewest. The keys for us will be pounding the ball, limiting the pressure the cats get on nichols, and protecting the ball. Our special teams and run game look poised to win the field position battles. This one should come down to pressure and turn overs.
