  1. I've seen the Bombers play some awful football over the years, so if they wanna blow out everyone the rest of the year, they can go right ahead. Somehow, I'll find a way to manage............

  4. It's GAME DAY!!!! BEST OF THE WEST vs Beast of the East (Ed Tait TOTALLY ripped this one off of me - jk) GAME 6 | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (5-0) at HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (4-1) THE 4-1-1 Kickoff: 6 p.m. CT Friday, Tim Hortons Field, Hamilton TV: TSN, RDS, ESPN+ Radio: 680 CJOB Vegas line: The Ticats are favoured by two points. Home/Road: The Bombers are 2-0 on the road this year with wins in Vancouver and Ottawa. Winnipeg is 4-1 in its last five road games, the lone blemish a loss to Edmonton in the 2018 regular season finale in which a number of the team’s starters did not play or had limited reps. Hamilton, meanwhile, is a perfect 3-0 at home this season. Recent history: The Bombers 5-0 start is the third best in franchise history. The 1960 squad opened with 10 consecutive victories en route to a 14-2 record while the 1939 Bombers rocketed to an 8-0 start, finished the regular season 10-2 and then defeated Ottawa to win the second of the franchise’s 10 Grey Cup championships. The Ticats, meanwhile, have opened with a 4-1 record in their first five games for the first time in 21 seasons. Series: The Bombers are 64-55-0 all-time vs. Hamilton and 27-32-0 at Ivor Wynne Stadium/Tim Hortons Field. (With thanks to Ed Tait) https://www.bluebombers.com/2019/07/25/game-preview-wpg-ham-3/

  8. you know I am a bomber partisan down to my DNA but after watching the other games this week, I'm just hoping to see a football game between two competent teams tonight.

  10. And I like to think MBB can always strive to be like him. And pay heed to the idea to be kind, like it’s nothing special...

  11. He owes the WFC nothing...? That's absurd. This organization gave him his first opportunity to be a HC. This organization stood up for him when fans and media said he wasn't HC material and wanted him gone. This organization supported him as he learned the ins and outs of what it takes to be a HC in this league. His "unique case" seems pretty irrelevant. His days as a player are probably a good memory for him but is that enough to lure him back there? The Argonauts are a dumpster fire. The fanbase is a shell of what it once was. The only "benefit" is Toronto's proximity to O'Shea's hometown (North Bay) but even that's a stretch, IMO. He'd have to foster a new relationship with that organization's stakeholders, its new GM, coaches, players, etc. Maybe the challenge is appealing but imagine the pressure that comes with it - especially with how poorly the Argos' 2019 is going. I guess anything is possible but I'm not convinced he'd just bounce if the Argos came calling. He's established himself with the WFC and I think that matters more than whatever past glory he had elsewhere.

  12. Westwood is terrible at his job. Actually 1290 could use a ton of upgrades.

  15. No it can't. Really a guy like MBT is just a punching bag, he's not going to get any better he's already in his 30s. Sort of like when we had Max Hall. I mean MBT would be useful to a team like the Bombers maybe if we lost some guys to injury and were going to just want a guy to do very simple things and rely on the run and D. On a 0 win team I don't know how much time you waste with a guy like that who clearly isn't good enough. Toss anyone else out there and see what you have until Franklin returns.

  21. I love Wednesday's for Jason Cole. Love that guy. Also love the Friday 6-pack. But that's about it. EDIT: I've created a new thread in the General Discussion on TSN 1290 so that, however tempting, we don't derail this thread.

  22. Nichols to throw 5 one yard passes to start the game and set he CFL record for passing. All 5 will be TD passes as Lucky will return it to the one every kick off and punt. Boom.

  24. Not to derail this thread...but the issue with the content 1290 produces is they give too much airtime to the hosts to blather about stuff they don't know anything about. Basically like pick two sort-of sports fans (always get the impression that Rick Ralph kind of hates his job) and let them talk about the headlines. The morning and drive shows need better and more guests. Anytime it's just the guys in the station shooting the **** it's incredibly uninformed and boring. The morning show generally has terrible guests too, mostly bloggers.

  25. Looking forward to tonight’s game. Not only because the Bombers are playing, but also to expunge the memory of those two so called football games last night. Just embarrassing... Hamilton and Winnipeg are the league’s two highest-scoring teams at 37.4 points per game and 33.8 points per game, respectively They are tied in points-scored on offence with 157 and each has tallied 21 touchdowns They top the league in points-allowed: Blue Bombers at 16.0 points per game; Hamilton at 20.0 points per game. They say the TiCats are two point favourites, but they also say Toronto has a CFL football 🏈 team.. Go, Big Blue..

  26. And only 298 yards. What a loser. Can’t even break 300 yards which is the only metric you need in order of judging how good a QB is.

  27. There's no use in playing a guy like MBT if you're an awful team. Might as well lose with someone who might get better.

  41. Both teams look bad right now. Heard Davis was dressed, but even if he can't play I would pull Jennings for the third stringer. I am always reminded during these matchups that the CFL has 9 teams and two have the exact same colour schemes.

Yep, and some people try to suggest that Calgary is still a good team. Honestly, the on field product leaguewide this year has been pretty abysmal.
