For the people who laugh at CFL 2.0. This is just one of many guys Brandon Colliers group have gotten D1 opportunities. In a few years there is going to be some very talented players starting in the CFL from Europe.

Actually, when I was living in Saskatchewan in the later 70's and early 80's and Ron Lancaster was coaching the Riders, he had quarterback problems. During one game, his anointed starter was doing very poorly, so about halfway through the third quarter, Lancaster turned to the backup QB and told him to start warming up because he was going in next possession. The guy was feckless enough to say that he didn't feel ready to go in. Lancaster turned several shades of purple and told the guy to get off the sidelines, clean out his locker and be gone before the game was over or he would be killed.

Friday's game reminded me of the Banjo Bowl last season. Nothing was working on offense and no adjustments seemed to be made. And like last year's Banjo Bowl, a QB would've not made a difference, IMO. Streveler still doesn't seem to have his reads down, he rarely stays in the pocket, his passing needs a considerable amount of work, and with how poorly the O-line was playing in both run blocking and pass protection, it'd have likely been just him lowering his head and barreling down the middle for a gain of a few. I'm all for giving backups reps in-game, but I don't think Friday was the right opportunity for that.

I'm going to take a stab at a prediction here and say that Matthew's has a break out game on Thursday.

His footwork and mechanics need work. Throws off his back foot alot, that will get you in trouble in the pros, especially a field as wide as ours. He has a huge tendency to just use his arm when making throws, has a tough time stepping into them and is stiff in the upper body. He has alot going for him, but his footwork need attention if he wants to be more than a bit player.

Their is no interest in this event at all from the casuals, this wasn't like the heritage classic where even fringe hockey fans wanted in on the event. The same even goes when we had the Womens Soccer games at the stadium, I heard much more of a buzz of those games then from this NFL exhibition. If I were them I'd slash prices in half right now and try to salvage what they can.

One of the picks that ended up being double coverage had 2 receivers running basically side-by-side. I would hazard to guess that one of them was supposed to pull up on a shorter route which would have taken the 2nd defender out of the play. I think that one was on the receiver who wasn't supposed to be there (I think it was Lucky on the outside who's defender jumped in and took the ball from the intended receiver).

That is false he made the right read but threw a bad ball. Those guys were open the ball just sailed on him.

No way- keep him in there and let him either work through the adversity and get a win or own the loss. Putting Strevs in there is not a good move- he loses, he shares the blame. He wins, it glosses over the ugliness of the game and fails to underscore the work that needs to be done to get better. I can honestly envision some posters coming on here after the win complaining about how "we didn't deserve the win", "strevs bailed out Nichols", "the other team played better", "we are not as good as our record", "ham and egger" and the list goes on... So yeah- I think it was the right call to leave Nichols in there.

The ints weren't great plays, they were being in the right spot to capitalize on over throws and one of the fumbles on a return was the guy dropping the ball, the other the returner ran into his own guy which put him off balance and led to poor ball security. So yeah Hamilton was opportunistic, but those mistakes were bomber sloppiness more than anything.

Darren Cameron is doing a lot more than just running communications behind the scenes these days. He has been helping Walters with in player retention and player recruitment.

The comment you made was that "WITH THEIR BACKUP QB" they made us look like "pure crap", which is not the case at all. The fact that Nichols was in a funk and couldn't pull it out of the fire has nothing to do with how Hamilton's backup QB played.

I think Streveler is a better passer than you are giving him credit for, however he is still very raw and I don't think he's ready to be a starter yet.

Definitely heard Milt say this before. It's not precisely true as wbbfan extensively points out, but a receiver's #1 job is usually to catch the catchable balls thrown your way. "If it's catchable, you should be able to catch it" just doesn't have the same ring to it, though

The bombers havent been pulling the numbers i would expect for a 5-1 top of the league squad. A bunch of people talked about how this would be a for sure sell out and I just dont see it. Its pre season NFL. Thats as dull as football gets.

It's not unreasonable to suggest that Nichols didn't have a great game .. no matter how you slice it, he wasn't particularly sharp and he made a number of terrible throws. This is what you get with him though .. when he's on he's on, he takes advantage of those instances when a receiver has a step .. when he's not .. he's most definitely not. It is what it is. Is it all on him? No. The offensive line got out played; Hardrick and Speller both really struggled. Nichols never really looked comfortable back there. The defense got hit in the mouth early and never really responded. Sure they shut down Evans .. but how many reps did he get in the lead up to the game? The defense did what it had to when he came in but they weren't world beaters. The TiCat game was a collective shitting of the bed from all three phases of this team .. a game I will do my best to forget.

No, if it was even a remotely well thrown ball, Demski would not have had to basically stop and lay backwards in order to even have a shot at it. He had a step on the coverage and the ball should have hit him in stride. I'm not saying he shouldn't have caught it, cause he had a shot. But I don't consider that ball to be well thrown at all.

My dad works for the province nd a few of his buddies are high ranking cops and lawyers and they told him the Matthews story that's going around isnt even close to the truth. Turns out its pretty minor. He told me earlier this evening that a few people may have embellished the story a wee bit... A wee bit being.. They werent there so they have no clue. Not saying the cop who told this story made it up but lets just say he likely over exaggerated.

"Can he win the big game?" Is a bullshit question this time of year. 1...its still way to far away for there to be a big game. 2. Hes won big games before, everyone looks at the losses, but ignores the wins. He won in Ssk 3 ******* times, hes won banjo bowls, he has won in the playoffs. Important regular season games with playoffs on the line. Lol Its ******* ridiculous to question his ability. "The great ones find a way" look at his record...what does it show? That he has won far more than he's lost. All these questions just sound like "when will he prove to me personally that he will win a grey cup in week 4 of a regular season?" What do you people want?
