  1. In defense of myself and 17to85, I was getting married this weekend and he was a groomsman in our wedding party....

  2. Well the points didn't come from his arm, they came from Harris and the OL whipping the Argos LB's. Nichols threw one completion in the ENTIRE GAME that travelled more than 12 yards vertically down the field. Pick any one of Brian Brohm, Robert Marve, Max Hall, Justin Goltz, Joey Elliott...that's the kind of thing we'd be talking about after they started a game.

  3. Thanks fellas... Was a whole Bombers themed wedding, and they really ****** everything on Thursday night. Still found a way to have some fun... #ManyManyManyBeers

  5. Yup a disastrous weekend all around. No it's a good thing for him, he's found a girl who tolerates him long term already!

  6. OL was not good vs Hamilton, but was fine against Toronto. Nichols did not see a lot of heat, had tons of time and was cycling through his reads then dumping off to Harris. Really issue comes down to Toronto playing quarters coverage and taking away deep shots, Bombers have very little intermediate passing game with lack of trust in Nichols to hit tight windows, throw behinds and other throws that potentially put ball in harms way if slight bit inaccurate. That intermediate passing game is really important in having a balanced offense, if it's not there very easy to defend passing game in general. Bombers have the receivers/backs to do damn near everything, you've got Lawler, Wolitarsky, Matthews who are BIG targets. You've got Whitehead and Demski who bring a lot of speed and YAC potential once they have the ball, you've got Petermann who can do everything but is especially reliable in the middle and also a guy who tends to gain YAC, they had Rasheed Bailey dressed who looks to profile as a thicker Denmark type of steady guy. If a QB can't make the throws to enable this offense to function pretty seamlessly I think that's a tremendous problem in isolation of the rest of the team. Lapo's excuse for not riding Harris at 20-0 was incredibly faulty and gives some insight into his mindset. Mostly it's just sickening to hear the excuses given what he has to work with. See bluebombers.com.

  7. The Oline has been swiss cheese the last two games, all the problems start and end there, imo.

  8. Andrew Harris takes responsibility when he underperforms or makes a big mistake, why should Nichols get a pass?

  9. 1. Congrats Noeller, all the best. 2. Nichols rarely takes the blame. Its always his receivers or covered or I played well. He didn't admit he played brutal in the Banjo Bowl last year.

  10. I think its the way theyve lost the games that most people are panicking about. No one would be complaining if they lost a 31-30 hard fought game against Hamilton with Masoli and Nichols trading punches. Its the fact that happy-feet hot garbage Nichols is back and the once stout defense is giving up huge yards to clowns like MBT.

  11. Lotta talk about the quality of our OL but I'm not convinced they've been very good during the last couple games. I think that interior and Hardrick playing injured has caused some issues for our offense...

  12. I’ll take a Grey Cup any single way we can get it.

  13. The way they lost is concerning - it’s a movie we’ve seen before.

  14. No question the O-line stunk against Hamilton, but against Toronto, Nichols had all the time a competent quarterback needed. Nichols has no excuse/reason/justification/rationale for his performance.

  15. You couldn't even get their birth dates confirmed from this team.

  16. Then you will probably like this one as well... when losing becomes acceptable it also becomes the standard....

  18. Teams had him figured out half way through 2017... you pressure and take away Harris, and you're going to have success against the Bombers. His accuracy has been awful... chucks it to the sidelines so often when the pocket even remotely starts to collapse. This is why I truly believe that the more game time Streveler gets, the more he's going to figure it out. He's a threat to run, which when he rolls out, is going to get attention from the linebacking corps. If he can get them to commit to him running, or even freeze them while finding someone downfield, it's going to open up the mid - deep plays. With Nichols, there's zero threat of that happening because he's too slow to roll out and create any time for himself. If he rolls out, he's tossing into the 2nd row just to get rid of it, not trying to guide a guy open downfield like the elite QBs can!

  19. If you cant understand how Oline play affects the qb, you should really go to a football 101 course wherever you can find one.
    2 points
  20. Hmm. They havent been great but how does that play a role in Nichols not being able to complete a pass more than 5 yards? The problems start and end with the QB.. Cuz this isn't something new with Nichols.. This was happening last year also when we had the best Oline in the league? I dont get the oline blame... Really dont.. How is it their fault our QB cant throw an accurate pass? I mean even when they give him time hes looked like crap.

  21. ^^ Then there needs to another receiver besides Harris running a hot route on almost every play. Teams are starting to figure it out - blitz and make sure Harris does not get a first down most of the time. There needs to be someone cutting their pattern short and getting in behind the linebackers - the way a guy named Milt used to do it.

  22. Nichols requires a completely clean pocket to be even remotely effective. He’s the type of QB who makes his line look far worse than they are because essentially any pressure wrecks the play.
    2 points
  23. I agree - but he does need to be able to make some plays when he's not completely clean in the pocket - plays other than dumping it off to Harris.

Whataboutism again. Time for a new playbook dude. Fact is this isn't a left or right issue, it's an issue about nuts with guns shooting people.

  25. You saying this doesn’t make it true. Even when he says he didn’t play well, he has to add on an excuse to justify it. He can’t help himself.

  26. Some of you have too high standards. It's the same bullshit people got on Glenn for. Just cause a guy isn't constantly breathing fire doesn't mean he doesn't care of doesn't take responsibility. Hell Ricky Ray never showed any emotions either, now granted he was a much better quarterback than Nichols, but point still stands.

  27. I would buy that more if Nichols wasn’t historically reluctant to take responsibility for poor performances. It’s his right to say what he wants, I am just responding to a comment referring to Nichols as a guy who owns his mistakes which is clearly not generally the case.

  28. Beers solves all the problems - just like all the other times.

  29. Of all the good things you can credit Nichols for, and those things do exist, the guy rarely owns his own poor performances. Even when he was getting credit for his comments after the Hamilton loss for seemingly owning up to a bad game, it felt an awful lot like he was blaming fluky circumstances for his bad throws. The whole “that doesn’t happen more than once in 10,000 throws” thing was clearly him trying to justify his backbreaking interceptions. Even if the actual comment is factual (and it clearly isn’t) it would be nice to hear him take sole responsibility. He often rushes to the “receivers weren’t open” excuse. And I find the sentiment that he deserves respect because he’s “our QB” and gives the team and the city his all on the field more than a little bit silly. He’s a professional football player. You’d like to think that every player, if not the distinct majority is giving it their all. It’s not for the city or the fans, this is his job. And if a person is doing their job poorly, I’m not going to give them a break because they tried their best. I’ll give him credit when he performs well, but he deserves to be derided when he’s poor. And unfortunately for us, that’s more often than not.

  30. **** that ****, Nichols offense got the Bombers out to a 20 point lead and then they did what Ritchie Hall defense do on the drive prior to half with a big lead, they played soft prevent D, trouble for them was Toronto didn't make mistakes and it gave Toronto all sorts of momentum, and the Bombers offense went into the patented "don't take risks" mode after that and it further built momentum for the Argos. It's been the knock on Ritche Hall since forever! I can remember reading posts on rider fans where they were pissed off at his prevent defense 10-15 years ago. Ritchie Hall's favourite snack:

  33. I just can't buy the play calling excuse. Are you suggesting that LaPo is calling for 4 yard dump offs to Harris and having all of the receivers running routes as decoys? I keep bringing it up but last year when Streveler was in , immediately guys like Wolly started getting targeted 10 - 15 yards down the field on plays that start out exactly like the ones that Nichols run. Also you can't fault LaPo when Nichols has time in the pocket and his receivers have to dive, jump, fall back just to catch the ball. If I were to put a blame % between the two... it would be 80% Nichols and 20% LaPo. My only gripe with LaPo is that he doesn't use more sweeps and other plays (i.e. hand off to whitehead) when it's obvious late in the game that they will be running up the gut.

  34. I will tell you this right now, it's not just Nichols with the offense. Yeah he wasn't great, hut other than Harris who was va. Toronto? Nichols wasn't so bad you can say it was just him. I really truly believe it is the playcalling holding this team back. Just see it too often with Lapo back there regardless of who the qb is. Plays not to lose, which is a recipe for a loss. Best thing that could happen to this team is someone to hire lapo as a head coach in the offseason. Now about someone else hiring Hall....

  38. Coaches, even the most stubborn ones, can see this too. Matty must know he's on thin ice. How will he respond to the looming possibility of being replaced by Streveler as the starter? He will either continue to discombobulate or rise up and play better. Calgary will be a good test of his mental toughness.

Oh yeah totally- they found the shooter's manifesto that echoed Trudeau's call to a carbon tax and the libtard call to arms... Not quite the same as trumps rhetoric being put into action - but you knew that, yet still chimed in with the whataboutery, interesting. Please stop being so dishonest. Compare the weapons of the Danforth shooting to the El Paso and Danton shootings. Gun control leads to smaller arms, reduces the casualties and limits the damage. There is absolutely NO need for a civillian to be able to Purchase this: Semi-automatic, 100 round magazine of .223 caliber bullets.... without a background check, which would have flagged his troubled history of having a kill and rape list in high school. Also, this is how easy it was for him:

  41. You can't have your cake and eat it too, either one of those guys would be a massive cap hit, and the team would suffer in other positions.

  42. It happens all the time. Teams go in overconfident & get their asses handed to them. In every sport. Nothing is guaranteed. That's why the game is played. No teams wins a championship "on paper". It's won on the field, the ice or the pitch.

  46. I used to watch the NFL when I had loads of free time (pre getting married and having children). The level of talent is insane and despite the games being much slower pace, I do find them entertaining. Also the fantasy football used to be really fun back when I had time to join a bunch of leagues.
