  1. The worst part of this week is going to be TSN and CFl going to sucking the ol' rider dong. for example: 81 yards! O.M.F.G straight out BALLIN'! SMH.

  2. I think his accuracy is actually a strength. His mechanics on the deep ball are poor but his mid-range stuff (10-20 yards) is the best we've seen from a Bomber QB since Glenn. The deep ball is something that can improve. Our pass protection in Sask was terrible, Augustine has no idea who to take, our interior OL is struggling with Desjarlais and Hardrick is really struggling. Streveler hung in there despite that and came back from an awful first quarter. Streveler is pretty good on the move and good on the scramble. Our receivers need to work on the scrambles because we missed a few big opportunities there yesterday when Streveler extended plays for 7-8 seconds. Our protection scheme needs some work, need more max protect with 7 blockers and 2-3 guys in a route on one side of the field, get Streveler on the roll, if pass is there take it, if run is there take it. We ran very little RPO kind of looks and the ones we did were huge plays, the Lawler pass, the Augustine run. The thing about those option passing looks is that the D has to defend the back getting the ball, Streveler taking the ball and the pass, all you need is a slight hesitation and we have a ton of space opened up. The misdirection causes the D to cover the entire width of the field. When we use it we move the ball, when we don't use it, we suck. This is with any of our QB's. Lapo's insistence on straight dropbacks with 5-6 blockers is not going to work. And that's not on Streveler, you won't see BLM or Harris or Reilly or f-ing MBT running as many dropbacks as we had Streveler run. It's a scheme that doesn't work.

  4. Now, admittedly AND sadly, I'm usually the first person to start screaming fire when I get the slightest whiff of smoke, but I'm not worried in the slightest. We don't have our starting QB or MOP RB and we barely lose to a team that by all rights should have blown us out of the water. I've lived in this godawful wheatermelon (feel free to use it, but only in the derogative) province to hate them like aids, hitler and mosquitos, and not many things bring me a smirk like watching those fools run off the field like this was the Grey Cup. This might've been their Grey Cup but it's one game and they squeaked by a crippled team. The only game against them that matters this year is our last one. Don't worry, have a drink, joint, **** or eat some paint chips, it's gonna be fine. I promise.

  5. What I do believe, is without Harris and the way our OC calls games, Nichols would have had to be scraped off the field yesterday. The rebound from the hit that Streveler took in the backfield was very impressive.

  6. I think we just traded a two point loss for invaluable experience. Naturally, I would have cheered a victory but Streveler had a full game’s experience, and that will definitely help in the future. As the game wore on, I believe the team saw what Streveler can do..and responded. I would say that the only thing holding him back is himself, but, with our OC..I know better.

  7. The defence or special teams didn’t score today and that’s been the difference in a number of our wins this season. It’s amazing the high standards people hold the D to when they are essentially the only reason this team has 8 wins.

  8. I don't know how the rest of you feel but I'm getting tired of seeing LaPo call plays that aren't working over & over. Going away from what is working & then during the game we all wonder why? Not using our guys strengths. Fitting square pegs in a round hole. Having Streveler run Nichols offense. Instead of drop backs why didn't we use RPO? My worry is the Bombers will give him a new contract this off season.

  9. Streveler put up 270 yards of offense in the last 3 quarters....figure it out in the first Q, knock off the turnovers and we're laughing.

  10. Haven't changed my opinion much. Have been a huge Streveler fan since Day 1 but don't think he'll ever be good enough to be a legit #1 in this league. Matt Nichols, with or without Andrew Harris, would have won that game yesterday and I'll fight over that.

  11. I think he was better this week than last and will be better next week

  12. Not really. Two starts in extremely unfavourable conditions and he moved the ball better in the second half of last game than Nichols has all year, believe it or not. He will never look like a prototypical passer but he doesn’t need to.

  15. How they are using Demski makes no sense. Had him as lead blocker for screen pass, used him as wing/H-back lead blocking for Augustine getting blown up repeatedly, trying to use him as a slot on crossers. He should be the field WR and sometimes come into the backfield but with very limited blocking assignments. Good to see Petermann get some reps and I think he could be a difference maker along with Wolitarsky if they are ever utilized.

  17. His head was going up. He wasn’t ready. That’s why they have that rule. He’s in a vulnerable position. Do you often see O’Shea as upset as he was? Because O’Shea knows the rules. And definitely no, it wasn’t OK to hit him. He took a cheap shot. But, of course, you’ll spin it because everybody else is wrong. Right?

  18. You can't let Chris off the hook. He had really bad pocket presence all game, and had a really tough time reading the D. Unless you want to run a college offense where we pass the ball 10 times a game, he's going to have to actually do some quarterback things

  19. Blatant hit on Rempel. We rarely see O’Shea so upset, but he was justified.

  22. Respectfully, I would counter your argument as follows: 1) Andrew Harris - heart and soul of the team and our leading rusher and MOP candidate, did not play a single snap. On top of that, his suspension was a significant distraction for the team this week. 2) The release of Matthews also arguably could be seen as a distraction. 3) Nichols was out for this game, it was only Streveler's 5th career start as a QB (I think). 4) They lost by two points on Labor Day, the 'Riders have won 13 of the last 14 LDC games going into today. They. own. Labor Day. 5) As much as I hate to admit it, the Riders are 2nd in the West - they have a good team - it's not like they just lost to BC. 6) Mosaic Stadium is not friendly to visitors, we just have to make sure IGF is just as loud and hostile. All things considered, this team had every excuse to rollover and die being down 10-0 in the first, with the place going nuts, a backup QB, a backup RB and a venue that in recent memory has been an absolute house of horrors for this franchise. They fought hard, came back, and almost pulled it off. Valiant effort but that's how the chips fall sometimes. Go out there and get after 'em in the Banjo Bowl.

  23. Streveler cost us 6 points most likely win without the pick and intentional grounding. No reason to panic or over react with a two point lost.

  24. We got a good player in Augustine, he has a few things to work on but I really like what i say from him today, Jefferson is in a league of his own no matter what the boys at TSN say, whether he gets to the qb pressure him tips balls runs down runners the guy is an absolute beast. The O line was a mess to today but Lapo could of helped them out by rolling out Streveler, he is not a straight back pocket passer.

  28. I thought he took a beating, some of his runs were running a gauntlet. There's no way to tell how well he can play till they 1. Run some plays that suit him. 2. Get him more than one second to throw. O line was not very good in this game. He certainly showed real leadership, gutting out enough offence to win the game, pretty much on his own.

  29. Our opponents have been called for exactly ONE holding in the last 2 games. One of Nevis or Jefferson gets held every second play. It's been absolute pathetic reffing

  30. Watching teams like Hamilton and Calgary just move the ball at will no matter who is on the field at receiver, running back, OL, QB....but Lapo is a genius? Damn near every game we go on an extended run of 2 and outs, even the bad teams in the league don't do that. We've done that consistently over the last 3 seasons.
    3 points
  31. But I thought you guys criticized Nichols for using Harris too much on check downs.

  32. 161 yards passing on 67% passing is close to what Nichols gave us most weeks. Like the 65 yards rushing. Lapo needs to design an offense to fit him.

  33. Bighill is having an awful season. We're lucky to have a great interior DL because if anyone gets to our second level we are screwed. Our D was better without Bighill. I don't blame him, he's fighting through a very difficult injury and makes the odd play, like the INT that required a bit of savvy and athleticism to make that snag, but he's basically a non-factor between the whistles, he's not really making any plays near or behind the LOS. Obviously he provides leadership. Compared to last season it's day and night. Bighill made several plays at the end of games last season that preserved wins, he caused turnovers, and made plays in the backfield. We aren't getting much of that.

  34. Claybrooks might get him just on size but other than that. I'd pay money to watch MOS beat the snot out of both Dickenson brothers.

  37. Given the circumstances surrounding that game, it's hard to believe that so many people are tying themselves up in knots over losing on a last second field goal. The team is 8-3 and literally never wins the LDC even when everything is going right for the team. The Banjo Bowl is also far from a must win. Once again, this team will coast into the playoffs and this is the point of the season where surviving injuries and working out kinks are most important. That is not to say, however, that there aren't concerns coming out of that game. It's just concerns that we already knew existed. For one, even if it's beating a dead horse, there should be genuine concern at this point that Bighill is either done or pretty close to it. I recognize that injury recovery could be playing a role in his diminished play but he was playing poorly early in the season prior to his injury, is 31 and always relied on his superior athleticism to get by, rather than great angles. The talent on the rest of this defense is elite. He's the weak link. We also already knew that Lapolice was a disaster and it's frustrating to know that it would be perceived as the true major problem that it is earlier in the season had the defense and special teams not scored an extremely unsustainable number of points during the first 10 weeks of the season. We can probably still count on good field position from both of those units for the rest of the season but to expect and need a score from at least one of those units to win isn't a fair expectation. The gameplan from Lapolice was again an embarrassment. Admittedly, he actually changed things up and we actually moved the ball reasonably well in the second half which was something that was demonstrably not happening with Nichols. Even if most of us want to see Streveler get more chances to throw the ball downfield, it seemed like the gameplan going in was keep him in the pocket at all costs and that just wasn't going to be a success. It seemed like Streveler succeeded far more when the play broke down and he had to improvise. The utilization of talent on this offence continues to confound and this, along with the puzzling gameplans won't stop being an issue while Lapo is the co-ordinator. The lowkey worst thing to happen to this team this season was not allowing Lapo to interview for the HC position in Saskatchewan. Again, Streveler is far from perfect but we can clearly move the ball and win with him. There was a lot to like about his game today. His first two starts of the season could not have been in more unfavorable situations and there's clearly something to work with there. Whether he ends up being the long-term answer for this team at quarterback remains to be seen but to me the absolute worst case scenario for the long term health of this franchise is having him struggle to the point where coaching and management assumes we can't let Nichols go in the offseason and we're then stuck in QB purgatory for the indefinite future.

  38. Yeah we were close, despite a lot of adversity......the men played hard, encouraging signs for next week, yadayadayada.... First quarter (when you need to go out and set the tone) and the last couple minutes were a joke. The lack of imagination on O first downs was tedious. Moral victories......well, they stink. That really stung.

  40. Haven't given up more than 28 points in a game and that's including a few points off turnovers too. Don't think D is an issue. Was an issue today because they didn't make enough big plays as we rely on them so much.

  41. Yup he needs to get his **** together and be a better football player as opposed to a pitchman for a neck brace.

  42. I actually thought Streveler was pretty good, all things considered. They moved the ball fairly well when Lapo started calling intermediate crossers and calling designed QB runs. It was the vile runs up the gut for 2 yards on every first down that killed the team’s momentum.

  43. To be a Bomber fan is to know disappointment.

  44. I mean Hall's D gave up 1 TD and have done that pretty consistently. Lapo we could get rid of anytime. He's getting nothing out of a lot of talent, with or without Nichols and Harris.

  45. Streveler's passing in the 2nd half was great. I don't think Lapo knows what to do with him (or really any QB in this era). Our protection scheme and quick game (screen's especially) need work. Lapo can't do RPO with any consistency, and that's what's needed to really put the D off-balance. We have the perfect QB to run an option passing scheme. Finally adjusted to the pressure a bit at half. Big game from Streveler. Have a hard time celebrating anyone on D, they had a chance to win the game and blew it. On the whole a great game from the D though, especially pass rush.

  46. The hilarious part is the number of people touting him as a prime HC candidate.....please take him. That accomplishes two things....rids the Bombers of him and guarantees wins against whoever he is coaching.
