  1. Streveler wins top performer of the week ... first Bomber QB to do that this year. shocker.

  2. I feel he is better than Nichols...all intangibles aside, I believe he gives us more chances to win...especially when it gets cold out. 4-5 drives would have stalled the last 2 games with no production at all with Nichols in and not having Strevelers abilities to escape...or get yards on the ground...also after heavy doses of him running you see players...a lot of DB's almost shy away and not want to stick their nose in there to meet him head on. Slowly Lapo is morphing things each week tailored to Streveler..and it has shown on the field...once that kid gets fully comfortable and confident...look the eff out

  3. Count me as someone hoping he gets another look from the CFL. Guy was classy here, a good bomber on and off the field. best of luck to you Mr.Legget

  5. Most important stat of last week was no turnovers. If the Bombers don't turn the ball over they are nearly impossible to beat.

  6. Surprisingly, not too early to start analyzing the playoff race. All scenarios do NOT consider the possibility of ties at this point, just too complicated to factor in that possibility at this point. WEST Winnipeg - have clinched 4th place in the division, will clinch crossover playoff spot with wins and Ottawa losses totalling 2. Will clinch west playoff spot with wins and Edmonton losses totalling 3. Will clinch home playoff game with wins and either Calgary OR Saskatchewan losses totalling 6, will clinch west final home game with wins and Calgary AND Saskatchewan losses totalling 6. Calgary - Will clinch crossover playoff spot with wins and Ottawa losses totalling 4. Will clinch west playoff spot with wins and Edmonton losses totalling 5. Will clinch home playoff game with wins and Saskatchewan losses totalling 7 (if Saskatchewan does not beat them by 28 or more points in their remaining game), will clinch west final home game with wins and Winnipeg losses totalling 8 (if they beat Winnipeg by 3 points or more in their remaining game). Saskatchewan - Will clinch crossover playoff spot with wins and Ottawa losses totalling 4. Will clinch west playoff spot with wins and Edmonton losses totalling 5 (if they win season series). Will clinch home playoff game with wins and Calgary losses totalling 7 (if Saskatchewan beats them by 28 or more points in their remaining game), will clinch west final home game with wins and Winnipeg losses totalling 8 (if they beat Winnipeg in their remaining game). Edmonton - Will clinch crossover playoff spot with wins and Ottawa losses totalling 5. Will clinch west playoff spot with wins and Saskatchewan losses totalling 8 (if they win season series) OR wins and Calgary losses totalling 9. Will clinch home game with wins and Saskatchewan AND Calgary losses totalling 9, will clinch west final home game with wins and Winnipeg losses totalling 10. BC - Can finish no better than 2nd in the West. Eliminated from home playoff game with 1 loss or a Saskatchewan win OR a combo of losses and Calgary wins totalling 2. Eliminated from playoffs with losses and Edmonton wins totalling 2, OR losses and Ottawa wins totalling 5. EAST Hamilton - Have clinched 3rd place in the division. Will clinch a home playoff game with wins and Ottawa losses totalling 2. Will clinch east final home game with wins and Montreal losses totalling 4. Mixed feelings about this. Bolton never saw a brown person he didn't want to bomb, so keeping him the hell away from the government is a sound move.

  11. a lot of this stuff about the crowds goes back to my long-held belief that we actually have more die-hard fans who are intelligent football fans. They definitely have a lot more "casual" fans that buy all the green gear because it's trendy to do so, but in terms of the true die-hards, who stick around through thick and thin, I really and truly believe we have a lot more of those. They don't need to be told when to make noise and when NOT TO make noise....they just understand football.

  12. He has the Rod Pedersen podcast. He was selling merch and recording a podcast outside the stadium for the LDC. EDIT: I just assume he's homeless and rides the Regina transit, talking to himself and uploading it to the internet.

  13. Pedersen is an absolute embarrassment to the Riders and CFL. Can someone in Saskatchewan please fire his ass? He's so bad that even the general public there must know he's a disgrace

  14. Anyone see this little gem from the least biased CFL commentator? Not sure what he wanted - Bob Irving to rave about Dickensen for not exploding at the end of the game? To me, the two games are way different and O'Shea's reaction to the hit in the game was at least understandable. http://rodpedersen.com/throwin-elbows-with-brendan-mcguire-31/ 2. BOB IRVING TURNING INTO A BIG HOMER: “Knuckles” has been doing the Bomber broadcasts for nearly 50 years and he still calls the games with good objectivity and is not afraid to criticize his home team. But it’s really twitter where he’s becoming a Rockstar know-it-all. He supported Mike O’Shea’s railing against the Roughriders for injuring Winnipeg’s long-snapper with no mention of Willie Jefferson’s cheap shot on Cody Fajardo. And yet no credit for Craig Dickenson who, unlike O’Shea, didn’t explode after his loss or whine like a baby over missed calls. But rather, smiled, shook O’Shea’s hand and congratulated him on their win. The Mike O’Shea’s, Bob Irving’s and plenty of other Winnipeg fans of the Canadian football world could learn a thing or two from Craig Dickenson.

Couldn't care less about "a playoff spot"....I want 1st, and I want a GC appearance. After that, there's only so much you can control in a 1-game Winner Take All...just get to the dance.

  21. I think a lot of people forget that Streveler has less than 10 professional starts since he was in college. Is he better overall than Nichols at this point? Of course not. Does he have potential to be? VERY easily. There will be bumps along the way. He is still an incredibly young QB - See the Edmonton game. But his feet can get him out of trouble, and he's only going to get better when it comes to reading defences, accuracy, and everything else that comes with throwing the football. Personally, I'll take the facepalm moments that will inevitably happen in the short term, knowing how good this guy can be in a season or two.

  22. we can all aspire to be as objective and credible as Rod Pedersen.

  23. he DID get fired and he's got nothing to do with the Riders anymore....I believe he now lives and works in Calgary.

  24. If he doesn't play oline or several spots on defense he won't help them much...when you have about 7 minutes of T.O.P in a half like in the BB cause your defense can't get off the field doesn't really matter what you have on offence with a creaky O-line

  25. Bombers have been 24 seasons in the West division since their last 1st place finish in 1972. In a 5 team division, that drought is even more significant than a 29 year Grey Cup drought in a 9 team league. And for those who question the importance of a first place division finish, since the Lions entered the CFL in 1954, in 65 seasons, the first place team in the West division has gone on to the Grey Cup 40 times (61.5%), the second place team 17 times (26.2%) and the third place team 8 times (12.3%). By pure coin flip the percentages should be 50-25-25 (removing any home field advantage consideration). In the East it is even more pronounced. The #1 seed made the Grey Cup 49 times (75.4%), #2 15 times (23.1%) and #3 only once (1.5%). So finishing first in either division has resulted in a 68.4% chance of getting to the Grey Cup historically.

  26. Streveler, again only 24, just doesn't process the game as fast as Nichols (which Lapo has said is as fast as anyone he's ever coached) so he's not going to make the best decisions.....yet. Hopefully he can grow into it...

  27. That one in particular I am putting on the coaches though. It was clearly a called throw to get the ball out quickly without really looking, Sask D was just waiting for it.

  30. Yes our best shot at a Grey Cup appearance is to finish 1st. Anyone know when the last time the Bombers finished 1st in the West and made it to the Grey Cup?? I don't know, but I think it's way back in the '60's!

  31. I think home field advantage against Calgary (or anyone else) is absolutely crucial for our chances this season.

  32. Can we just concentrate on winning the next game?

  33. this is the absolute biggest thing for me. I want the guy who turns the ball over the least as my starting QB. We have all the rest of the pieces in place to win games....just don't lose it because of stupid decisions by whomever is behind centre.

  34. Nichols is still tied for second in the league in passing Touchdowns even though he’s missed three games. Funny.

  39. I think it's more of the difference between a check down pass and fighting through double coverage or speeding around to beat defenders and finding a seam. Big difference in the difficulties in the types of catches. I like those scatter plots of targets and outcomes. Gives a very solid idea of what's going on with a receiver.

  41. Mo was a monster for the Bombers. Wish we could get the Mo Leggett of 2016. But a las he’s old, and never fully recovered from his injury. No matter how great you are time or injuries will catch up with you eventually. No shame in that. He was an all time great and a play maker in every sense of the word but time to let it go.
    2 points
  42. he'd only get the league minimum, and that's all he'd ask for, but even at that rate I wouldn't take him over a young guy with upside. I love Mo and everything he did for this organization, but yes....sad is the right word.

  44. Yeah, Gainey did not account for Augustine on the TD play. Didn't see JA until he was well past him. damned if Augustine doesn't have a gift for making Ed Gainey look bad, torching him on explosion plays two weeks in a row. gotta keep him on hand for those rivalry games.

  45. Frankly...and this is just one guy's opinion...I think his deep ball misses are a by-product of his natural arm strength (he doesn't get much air under the deep balls) and his enthusiasm and adrenaline. He spots a guy, his eyes get wide as saucers and he let's it fly. When he settles in and settles down a bit I think he'll dial in those throws. Heck, Nichols has years under his belt as a starter and still misses those deep balls sometimes. I think Chris has tons of upside. He just needs the reps and good coaching.

Listen, I know that the Bombers are a good team. I believe in them. But there's a lot of chest thumping right now for beating a truly TERRIBLE Riders team at home. I mean, we PUMPED EM, and that's awesome....we are definitely a good team. But let's not start planning the parade route because we beat an awful, massively overrated Riders bunch...
