The fact that so many people are so willing to fire the head coach that has given this team a level of consistency that it hasn't reached in ages is mind blowing... yeah they have 1 playoff win, but you can't judge things purely based on the playoffs, especially when they always seemed to wind up facing the very best qbs the league has to offer in the playoffs, and a team like Calgary has been very good in all aspects outside of some Grey Cup disappointments, but in the west playoffs, particularly the west final they usually host they're a tough nut to crack. Now we can nit pick things, but in my mind firing O'Shea isn't even close to being something we discuss. Give the guy fresh faces at the coordinator position and see what happens, or if he does refuse to make that move when the time comes we can talk, but in the mean time I will be happy to deal with "only" winning double digit games in a season. It's so awful compared to the seasons where we're out of it by the fall.5 points -

argument could be made that Harris saved Nichols career.... Harris careered in 2017 with his yards from scrimmage and 105 receptions. All those short passes propped up the completion percentage and QB rating, and he's been nowhere near that level since this time 3 years ago. He had a couple good games this year, but to say he was having a career season?? That also says a lot... mediocrity is okay I guess!4 points -

𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 @DarrinBauming 6m6 minutes ago Are the #Bombers making personnel adjustments to their defensive backfield? While it may be due to Anthony Gaitor being nicked up... Marcus Rios is in at dimeback, newcomer Nick Taylor in at field halfback, and Brandon Alexander at safety. Anything that gets Hecht off the field, I'm good with.4 points -

This is the root of the problem with the Bombers. Coaches & management just satisfied with just winning games but not championships. If they don't step up then it's time to go. They have another year or maybe two to get it done.4 points -
Hecht had a brief stint as capable at the start of the year but he has been getting exposed for being slow and out of position lately. I believe the roster flexibility is there to play an american at the position so they should absolutely try it.3 points

If Hecht is indeed getting replaced, I’ll give O’Shea credit. Benching “his guys” especially vets is something he really doesn’t like to do. Granted, it’s beyond the point of ridiculousness when it comes to how poorly Hecht is playing that not removing him from the lineup is borderline negligence.3 points -

Average yards? We're talking QB rating which has little to do with yards. QBR would be inflated for a QB who does not go downfield very much because he will have fewer incompletions, which does factor in.3 points -

How do sacks factor into that? QB rushing? A QB that avoids INT's and throws a good number of TD's on short fields looks like a God by that stat, even if he took 5-6 unnecessary sacks that game that derailed the offense. A bunch of 2 yard throws for completions, perfect score. Really only useful with a huge data set to iron out that kind of stuff. Like if we want to compare two QB's with decade long careers.3 points -

Montreal is turned around to what extent? They play in a division with two historically bad teams, one historically bad on O, one on D. Will give them credit for wins vs the West for sure, but really that team in the West is probably 4th place or worse. You're also talking about guys who were with the organizations and taking over midstream. Do you want Lapolice as head coach? Richie Hall? History tells us that the vast majority of outcomes will be worse than they have been under MOS. I think people need to think long and hard about why games are lost and think analyze it in the big picture. Where are the deficiencies on these teams? On the whole it is not the defense, it's not the special teams. In most games since 2016 our D has outperformed our opponent as have our special teams. Crap we've put up several games per season where our D and special teams have outscored our opponents offense! I suppose we could pin the blame on MOS for being too loyal to a certain QB, or not developing a QB, or not aggressively forcing management to pursue available QB's. There was a dramatic shift of cap space in the past off-season from the secondary to the DL which has mostly turned out well and from the OL to the receiving core, where the results have been total ****. I think our best bet for next season is to run it back with the same core staff, get Lapo out of the building and think long and hard about some of the positional coaches on D who are potentially undermining the coordinator according to some rather loud rumblings.3 points -

The problem is that he can't play with the puck in the O zone all the time...and on the road coaches who line match intelligently are going to burn the Jets, which will then lead to PoMo playing the 4th line w/Letestu 3 minutes a night and running the top 6 into the ground. Too many guys on the 23 who are poor without the puck and at the blue lines, and Letestu is one of them.3 points -

Alexander at S is really interesting. On one hand I really id rather have him at another DB spot, but his speed at S is really tantalizing. I would think about moving fenner off cb, hes been beaten especially deep a lot. But im not sure he'd be any better at S. No perfect solution in this situation. We're losing 3 billion dollars in taxes (at least-some estimates are 20 billion) every year to tax shelters. That alone would fund universal day care which in turn saves tons of money down the road (healthier kids means happier and better educated kids, women better able to return to the workforce and pay taxes etc. Still waiting for a Federal government to go after the rich tax cheats. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/cra-tax-gap-foreign-holdings-1.4726983 "Well-heeled Canadians have hidden up to $240.5 billion in foreign accounts and are dodging up to $3 billion a year in federal tax on those funds, according to the CRA's first ever attempt to estimate how much government revenue is lost from individuals stashing money abroad. The Canada Revenue Agency arrived at the figure as part of its effort to calculate the country's "tax gap" — the difference between how much the government would collect if everyone paid what they owe, and how much the government actually takes in."3 points -

While I’m a strong supporter of O’Shea. It’s certainly not blind support. I too am pissed at our poor playoff history and of course our ongoing cup drought. However, I’ve taken a look at current CFL coaches who might be available in the off season and there’s not one that I would want coaching my team. Sure I’d take Dave Dickenson but he probably has a job for life with the stamps. And I’ve looked at a few asst. coaches but there’s not one that is a sure thing. Plus not sure I want to go thru the growing pains of a new coach who’s learning on the job. So my preference is to keep the status quo but hope that miller and Walters pressures O’Shea to can our OC and DC.3 points -

Ok, rational thought, then. When an opposing OL can contain the Bombers' pass rush, the defense is in trouble. Hammy was going with 6 or 7 blockers, meaning the secondary only had 4 or 5 receivers to cover. This has happened ad nauseum everytime an opposing OL did was OLs are supposed to do. Do you consider this acceptable?3 points -

My favorite is how the Conservative tax promises are made under the guise of helping working-class families, but in reality, they often benefit the rich most: 1. Increasing the basic personal amount will benefit people that use the deduction to its' fullest extent the most, so anyone with federal income below the basic federal credit (for 2019 this is $12,069, i.e. really poor) actually doesn't get any additional benefit from this... they'd still pay the same amount of tax ($0 assuming no refundable credits). 2. The children's fitness/arts tax credits can benefit working-class families, but families that are on the fringe of affordability are likely to cut luxuries (such as fitness/arts for their kids) first. Again, these benefits simply allow for the rich to get a tax break on something they were probably paying for anyways (such as a rich family whose son is in SJR paying for their kid to play hockey, they get the full $500 credit for that kid, assuming the cost of hockey is at least $500). 3. Increasing the RESP limits again benefits the rich - most middle class families struggle to contribute the maximum under the program, and if you're poor, having extra contribution room isn't going to help you plan for the future when you're struggling to put food on the table. Do the Liberals lie as well? Absolutely. They're all dogs, but at least they aren't spin doctoring with the level of finesse currently shown by the Cons. I'm pretty cynical and since I can't decline my ballot federally, I'm seriously considering intentionally spoiling it in an act of defiance, I've never seen such a bad batch of politicians set to run this country.3 points -

The PPC are for people who are afraid or hate Big Government & feel they are making intrusions into their lives. That taxes are too high & that we no longer control our borders. It's also a party founded by a guy who was pissed off he lost the Conservative Party leadership. Generally, a party created because the leader felt he got screwed over by another party doesn't last long. Google Derek Fildebrandt & read what he did. The circumstances of his demise would take too long to type here so I'm not doing it. He was a real piece of work here in Alberta politics. It makes for an interesting read.2 points -

The usual suspects are off the bandwagon at the first sign of adversity, as per usual. The only problem with this team is the coordinators. If they don't do something about that in the offseason we can talk, but until then I trust Miller Walters and O'Shea.2 points
