  3. Well, as I sit and look through the condo window in northeast Calgary, it's overcast. Forecast says Partly Cloudy, 30% chance of showers for this evening. High of 9 this afternoon but cooling off around game time. McMahon is a graveyard for us but this Stamps team is as beatable as they've ever been. Today, missing Don Jackson and Tre Roberson, that much more so. While the odds would suggest a season finish of Sask-Cgy-Wpg, why not throw a wrench into things and win out the season just for fun?? 5. Milt had over 1600 yards and double digit TDs in 1997 with Chris Vargas and Kevin McDougall as his QBs and with no other threats in the passing game. Lapo deserves no credit for Milt's MOP.

Sounds to me like you are advocating for a two tier health care system with private clinics providing the same services as government clinics to reduce wait times? Maybe you are a conservative after all.

D.Y.K. Winnipeg’s current run of four straight playoff appearances is the league’s second-best total. Bet nobody would have guessed that. Behind only the Stamps who clinched their 15th consecutive playoff appearance in Week 15. - Ed Tait

  16. I still don't understand why Lapo never goes for a pass longer than what we need to get. We need 10, he dumps it off at the LoS. We need 7 he dumps it off at the 3 yrd... We need 15yrds... dump it off at the 5... How is that a recipe for success? Calgary... they need 10- there's 55 yards. They need 6 yards- theres 20... the ****...

  17. It's Richie Halls D, which may not be a bad thing. The bad thing might be Richie Hall calling the plays for the D. Can we get Glen Young to continue to do that job? Judging by last game, he seems more willing to make changes and adjust to game situations on the fly than Richie Hall does. If I was MOS that's exactly what I'd be demanding.

I hope Streveler breaks the rushing record. (Having said that, as with all recent records, it is over an 18 game schedule). Anyways, This game will be a very good test for our offense and Strevelers ability to read a defense.

What's wrong with a team that puts up more wins than losses each season? Haven't we all seen enough of the out of contention before Labour Day teams to appreciate what we have here?

  30. I remember those days well and Bob Larose was no joke. Thorpe's athleticism was a special treat to behold, that man could go get a ball, and Mack Herron was simply incredible given his size. Memories.
    2 points
  31. He had some weapons like Flanker Thorpe, Herron, Fullback Ed Williams, TE Paul Markle, wingbacks Paul Williams, Pete Ribbins & Bobby Kraemer as well as split end Bob Larose & still was just a 50% passer. I loved Don Jonas. When he was hot, he was on fire. But when he struggled, it was like a cold wind was blowing thru Canad Inns Stadium. Jonas was very much a rhythm qb. If he had a string of completions early then usually he'd play well. If not, he did have struggles with his confidence. He was a high risk, high reward qb always pushing the ball deep downfield. His stats bear that out. LaPo's offense is nothing about high risk, high reward. It's all about spreading the ball around & ball control offense. Jonas could have been a 65% passer in LaPo's offense but he wouldn't have been happy. Jonas was a gunslinger who loved to make the ball fly. Not checking down to his tailback.

  34. Osh probably is done in Winnipeg. He's 55-51 I think, a bit better than .500. You'd hope for better after six years. So I am OK he he moves on to Toronto or wherever. The question becomes - who will replace him. I don't see Khari leaving MTL, town is too fun. And he's got something good going on there with Joe Mack and that team. I hope the next Bombers HC is not Lapo - been there, done that. What if Bombers took a flyer on someone like Ryan Dinwiddie - who did a great job with Arbuckle and the Stamps QBs. It's time we had someone with real Offensive knowledge calling the shots here. Could be just the ticket if we can keep Streveler on a long-term deal.

Why not let Roslovic have a shot at 2C? Maurice has finally given him a chance to play center, why not put him between Ehlers and Connor? He's over 58% on his draws so far this season.

Random CFL notes... - Half-time deficits have been an obstacle that Montreal has overcome this year. They have won 5 times when trailing at the half. - The Als have a current 3-game home win streak and have not had a 4-game winning home run since the end of 2014. - Toronto is 0-10 when trailing after the 3rd Quarter. They have one 4th Quarter comeback win however over Winnipeg (28-27). - The Alouettes are 7-5 in games decided in the last 3:00 and have the most late wins with their total of 7. - Will Stanback needs 46 yards officially to reach 1,000 this season and tops the CFL with 12 runs of 20+ yards (explosive plays). - Toronto cut their 2-&-Outs dramatically last week with a season-low of 1. They had 24 of them in their previous 3 games. - Montreal Penalties - First 8 games: 84 (10.5 per game); Last 7 games: 49 (7.0 per game). - Toronto did not allow a point off of a T/O last week. IN the previous 3 games they gave up 45 opponent points after T/Os. - Toronto has used more starters than any other CFL team in 2019 with 51. Next is Ottawa with 49 different starters. - At 87.1%, Boris Bede has his best FG mark since his rookie year (36-of-40 90% in 2015). He has made 13 in a row. - Cleyon Laing had 2 Sacks last week and now has 34 for his CFL career Saskatchewan 1-3 starts with most wins: 1956 10-6, 2017 10-8 & their best at 11-7 in 1993 after their 1-3 opening run. (In 2019 the Riders started 1-3 and are 9-2 since then) Saskatchewan Defence - In their 10 wins: 16.1 ppg allowed; In their 5 losses: 33.8 ppg allowed. BC's defence has allowed just 5 total points in the 1st Quarter over the last 7 games. Cody Fajardo has a solid chance to lead the CFL in passing yards in 2019. Last debut starter to lead CFL? Tony Adams in 1979. Saskatchewan Turnovers - In their 10 wins: 7; In their 5 losses: 12. Saskatchewan has been solid on 2nd down conversions. They have won that battle in 11 of their 15 games. Cody Fajardo has brought the threat of running out of the backfield after an initial dropback to pass The loss of Mike Reilly last week keeps at just 2 years since 2003 that they have had their #1 QB start all 18 games. (2011 Travis Lulay & 2016 Jonathon Jennings) BC has never had a season without at least one win vs the West. This year BC is 0-8 vs West Division teams. Solomon Elimimian can still reach 100 defensive tackles by averaging 9 per game. He has 3 previous 100+ seasons. Danny O'Brien will be making his first career QB Start this week, just the 5th by a BC Lion QB since 2012. Sent from my iPad

This really is meaningless in Canada. Even trying to pass this would make all those conservatives un-electable by the nation. We are not the USA. yes we might copy cat somethings, but outside of the very fringes of the right there is no desire for anyone to change anything about abortions and it's not going to come to the forefront of the conservative party because it's a poison pill for their election hopes.

  41. If you believe Rod Black and Duane Forde, it was just an off game for Vernon Adams last week. I mean, he threw 4 ints. It had nothing to do with a pressure Bomber defence, right?

Dinwiddie is in his 6th year of coaching in the CFL - that is about twice as much CFL coaching experience as OShea had when he got here. But hey - I just threw the name out there. Who else is out there that isn't going to be a major question mark? Definitely time for someone who knows the offensive side of the game calling the shots IMHO.

I like O'Shea. Really do. He has done a lot of good here. He is loyal to a fault and far too inflexible for my liking however. I'd find it refreshing to get some new blood and a fresh young mind in here.

  44. Back in the days of Clements playing in Ottawa most CFL passers weren't 60% passers. There weren't a lot of the possession type throws we see now. Quarterbacks challenged the field vertically far more than they do now. If you look at Don Jonas stats in 1971 when he won the Schenley Award as CFL's MOP he threw for 4036 yards. He completed only 52% of his passes with 27 tds & 31 interceptions. Those stats won him a Schenley but his stats were by today's standards, terrible. Football was a different game back then.
