Justin Medlock has made 58 consecutive field goals from inside the 40 yard line. Based on my research, it appears as though Paul McCallum holds the CFL record with 59 consecutive field goals inside the 40 yard line (2010-2012). Others on the list include Sean Whyte 57 (2015-2018), Justin Medlock 50 (2015-2017) & Lewis Ward 49 (2018-2019) I have submitted this to Steve Daniel of the CFL for consideration.8 points -

Well he probably won't play but not a benching but simply because he's injured and chances are the game won't mean a lot in the final standings and with the bye week in the final week of the season it gives that extra time for the guy to heal for the playoffs. Honestly I don't think Streveler was as bad as people think he was. Yes the int was not a good throw, but Bo Levi MItchell threw a pick and could have thrown another if Fenner had expected the ball to be that badly thrown, it happens in football. The problems with the offense are the same things they have been forever. Lapo has built an offense that relies on Harris and Streveler breaking tackles and dragging guys for extra yards or for Whitehead or Demski to out run guys on short passes and pick up yards after the catch. We don't really have an effective downfield passing game. They're slow and methodical on offense when it works and grind games out. It's fine when you have a lead or are early in a game with time to play that way, but when we need to score quickly this team has nothing.6 points

Better yet, since you made the sweeping, general statement, you provide the details. I’m not about to compare Streveler to Mitchell, but to say he can’t put the football in tight spaces is incorrect. Ex. Short pass wide side to Whitehead 1st quarter. Pass was accurate on the inside, only Whitehead could catch it. Short pass to Lawler as Streveler rolled out. We gambled on third down and got the 1st down. Short pass to Whitehead, same quarter, hits him in stride, and he has blockers...drops the ball. Quick hitter to Bailey, right on target. Swing pass out to Demski, accurate to move to 3rd and inches. Final play of the 1st Q, Streveler rolls out to his left, hits Harris with a pass for a short gain. Tell me why all these plays don’t count for Streveler. These are the plays that were called and he executed. Very very similar to what Nichols does in the same type of offence. The difference being more running plays are called for Streveler as opposed to Nichols. Then the Lawler pass for a TD. That counts right? There are lots of examples if your open to them, but you’ve already made up your mind. Now I agree, Streveler’s accuracy for longer passes needs improvement, but he doesn’t get many called for him. So, I’ll be patient, and not write him off with LaPo directing his game.5 points -

You've got a point. Streveler has been drilled many times with head shots and rarely gets them called. I've seen several occasions where he has gotten up from a head shot, absolutely furious about being drilled in the head. No call. It's one of the most disgusting things our officials do and I really don't understand it. TSN never mentions it but Bob and Doug sure do. But if it's BLM, out comes the flag.4 points

Fighting stomach cancer, Hawerchuk wants ‘to live to tell the story'
kelownabomberfan and 2 others reacted to JCon for a topic
https://www.tsn.ca/fighting-stomach-cancer-dale-hawerchuk-wants-to-live-to-tell-the-story-1.1384658 Hockey Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuk is undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with stomach cancer in August, saying he is optimistic as he battles “the fight of my life.” The 56-year-old Hawerchuk took a leave of absence from his position as coach of the Ontario Hockey League’s Barrie Colts in early September. The team said Hawerchuk was stepping away because of a health issue but wasn’t more specific. “For some reason the Lord put me in this kind of fight and I’m ready to fight it,” Hawerchuk said in an interview last weekend with TSN. “I want to live to tell the story.” Hawerchuk, who grew up in Oshawa, Ont., idolizing Bobby Orr, entered the NHL with sky-high expectations after winning two Memorial Cups as a junior player with the Cornwall Royals of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The Winnipeg Jets took him first overall in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. When he signed a five-year, $800,000 contract with the Jets that summer, an armoured car escorted by police drove to the intersection of Portage Avenue and Main Street, the city’s main intersection, and dropped off the bright-eyed, curly-haired 18-year-old. He instantly became Winnipeg’s most recognizable sports celebrity. Hawerchuk played in the NHL for 16 years before retiring in 1997 with an arthritic hip. He played 1,188 games with Winnipeg, Buffalo, St. Louis and Philadelphia, scoring 518 goals and 1,409 points. Winner of the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year for the 1981-82 season, Hawerchuk also played for Canada in the 1987 and 1991 Canada Cups. Hawerchuk famously won the faceoff that led to Mario Lemieux’s iconic goal late in the third period of Game 3 of the 1987 Canada Cup final against the Soviet Union. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001. Hawerchuk said he began suffering from acid reflux symptoms in the summer. While a CT scan failed to show any cancer, doctors found a tumour in his stomach on Aug. 22. He is currently being treated with chemotherapy to shrink the tumour, which should provide doctors with the opportunity to remove it. “The chemo has hit me pretty hard,” he said. “I do it one week and it breaks the body down and then the next week I take a break and build my body up so I can do it again. I have to do that for two months. I really struggle to eat and have a feeding tube, but the last few days I’ve been able to eat a little bit, too. You’ve got to keep your nutrition up.” According to the latest annual report from the Canadian Cancer Society, of the 113,000 Canadians who are projected to be diagnosed with the cancer this year, an estimated 2.3 per cent (4,100) will be diagnosed with stomach cancer. Hawerchuk said he has already talked with stomach cancer survivors who he said are now are left eating a half dozen smaller meals per day but for the most part are living “a normal life.” Crystal Hawerchuk, Dale’s wife, says her family is rallying around her husband and that he has a mindset to beat the disease. “He’s just so himself and low maintenance and doesn’t have a big ego. He’s just such a good person,” she said. “Dale has always been a very focused person, very determined. He’s got mental strength today just like he had in hockey...I want people to know he’s helped so many people and so many kids and it's terrible this is happening to him because all he has done is give back to the sport. There’s no better person in my life than him. He’s a very selfless person." Dale said his family has been drawn closer together since his cancer diagnosis. His children, Eric, Alexis and Ben, are all staying close to the family home in King City, Ont. “You don’t have anything without your health, your family and your friends and sometimes we underrate that,” Hawerchuk said. “An illness like this can definitely put things in perspective. My surgeon told me I’ve got a hell of a battle on my hands, but I’m young and healthy everywhere else. “Like anything in life, you just got to dig in and go for what your goals are. It’s kind of no different than trying to make the NHL. Who knew if I could make it, right?”3 points -

Huh? What am I missing here? Rios has his back to the QB and never looks for the ball. If he simply looks back he easily picks off that ball or at least knocks it down. That ball should never have been thrown. It almost hits Rios. Sorry, I don't get it.3 points -

I’m not blaming Rios at all on this play. Rios has coverage. That throw is beyond ridiculous. You can try that throw 10 times into that very tight space and not be successful. Not to mention a very good catch by the receiver. There is only one spot to throw that ball and Mitchell hit it. He’s a very good passer. Sometimes, the other teams make plays. This is one of those times.3 points -

I'd love to know how many 2-pt converts this defense has allowed under Hall's "leadership" since 2015... Or even just the last three seasons. I expect the number to be high. I also don't get why the offense doesn't go for more. Not sure if it would've helped last night's end result but I feel like this is just another facet of this offense's glaring lack of a killer instinct. And in either case, it's inexcusable.3 points -

1. There were 3 instances where costly penalties kept the the Calgary offense on the field, which resulted in points. One which was what should have been a game changing sack. Another was an illegal contact call after a critical knock down up front. These things can be corrected. 2. BLM passing for 300+ yards - that is to be expected when they are playing the best QB in the league. That is not and should not be a criticism of the Defense. 3. Our passing game is what it is. Combined with the running game, the offensive totals were similar - the Stamps had 50 yards more 4. In spite of this team's limitations, they lost by only 4 points. The final 'drive' was not a back breaker. The back breaker was allowing the Stamps to stay on the field in critical situations3 points

They also extended several calgary drives taking penalties. Had em stopped deep late in the game but took roughing the passer, rose got dinged for PI on a play he didn't need to (though I thought both guys were guilty of interfering with each other) There was another nothing pass interference that kept the stamps on the field early too.2 points

Got to tell you my favorite Brock memory - Lived in Dallas at the time but my wife is from the Peg. Came up late fall one year and my in laws took me to the game. First time I had see a CFL wide field. Wow! In any event it was in the first quarter and the bombers had the ball on the right hash mark. Brock dropped back and faded to his right then threw across the field to the left side stripes - must have been 40-50 yrds or so maybe more. I was sitting right in front of the receiver only a few rows up. Don't remember who the receiver was at the time. The ball never was higher than probably 8 ft or so - perfect spiral! the ball hit the receiver with such force it knocked him down. There was no D Back around him! Never ever saw an arm like Brock had never will again!2 points -

The two short guys weren't going to be open for long. It was 2nd and long and they both had a Bomber above them around the first down marker. If they got the ball, they wouldn't have gotten a first without breaking a tackle. Those would be the kind of throws people get mad at Lapo for. I have no explanation for how wide open the actual target was, though.2 points -

Yes, Oshea's formula here is easily questioned. The ball is placed on the 3. We have good success with the short pass. Even if you don't trust the pass we have the #1 and #6 rushers in the CFL. A little misdirection one way, a hand-off or disguise in another, should be 2 points for Harris Strev Lucky or Demski more often than not. (As long as they don't go with Demski up the gut - that only ever gets 2 yards except in the last game when he ripped it for 16 off tackle.)2 points -
