I'm going to say Nichols injury (which happened around the same time) was a much larger factor. Especially since Harris has basically been himself since coming back, argument could be made that he's been better.6 points -
It's Andrew Harris bobblehead night this Friday. Likely our last home game of the year, so drink up! Don't forget to bring a tin for the bin. Please insert anger, disappointment and frustration below5 points

2019 CFL Season: Around the League

No, he was suspended for breaking the rules, like Harris. But obviously "it wasn't performance enhancing, so we can trust his numbers and not Harris' !" So, Simoni Lawrence got suspended for his illegal hits, which is part of his performance and his style of play. Will he get knocked for his illegal style of play which could enhance his play-making (receivers fear the big hit?) Obviously apples and oranges, but if selective morality is going to be a factor in voting and not performance-based, then consider 2 things: 1) Brandon Banks got busted for violating the league's drug policy in 2016 and still got the team and Eastern nominations for Best Special teams player, and was voted as a divisional all-star, and he is a leading candidate for east MOP this year, so how do voters reconcile that if they ignore Harris on principle? 2) Here are Harris' numbers before the positive test, after the test and before the suspension (appeal period when he knew he'd been caught), and after the suspension: BEFORE TEST: (4 games) rushes 58, yards 378, avg. 6.5, TDs 0, long 52, rush per game 14.5, yds. per game 94.5 receptions 18, yards 101, avg. 5.6, TDs 2, long 20, rec. per game 4.5, yds. per game 25.3 touches 76, yards 479, avg. 6.3, TDs 2, long 52, touch per game 19, yds. per game 119.8 AFTER TEST/PRE-SUSPENSION: (6 games) rushes 83, yards 530, avg. 6.4, TDs 3, long 56, rush per game 13.8, yds. per game 88.3 receptions 28, yards 236, avg. 8.4, TDs 1, long 34, rec. per game 4.7, yds. per game 39.3 touches 111, yards 766, avg. 6.9, TDs 4, long 56, touch per game 18.5, yds. per game 127.7 AFTER SUSPENSION: (5 games) rushes 69, yards 408, avg. 5.9, TDs 1, long 21, rush per game 13.8, yds. per game 81.6 receptions 21, yards 171, avg. 8.1, TDs 1, long 74, rec. per game 4.2, yds. per game 34.2 touches 90, yards 579, avg. 6.4, TDs 2, long 74, touch per game 18, yds. per game 115.8 So has there been a significant enough drop-off to suggest he was getting enhanced play because of the drugs in his system? This of course assumes he isn't still using, which would be quite surprising given he got caught once, is likely being tested more closely now, and given his stance that this was accidental would REALLY be taking a risk of destroying any of what is left of his reputation if he got caught again. I make no determination personally if he should or should not be left off for his conduct, but if I were a voter these are questions I would ask myself and expect to explain if asked by others.5 points -

When you start hearing right wing die hards like Charles Adler saying the CPC needs to move to the centre AND be more accommodating to minorities, the writing is on the wall. To have Liberals come with a dozen seats of a majority after everything that's happened, speaks volumes.4 points -

I can see it now... As the snow falls on the field on a cold November day in Calgary, McGuire sets in to begin the second half. The score 21-0, with the Bombers creating less than a 100 yards of offence in the first half. But not to worry, the injured threesome of Nichols, Collaros, and Streveler spent the halftime break giving McGuire advice. Adams is warming up on the sideline in case McGuire goes two and out again.3 points -

It would be a great Bombers type story. Collaros goes on a run, wins against Calgary, wins a playoff game, narrowly loses Western final, then we spend the entire winter debating whether we should pay $600K per year and lose our first round pick to sign a guy with a history of concussion issues based on three games. It's so us!3 points -

The challenge for the Conservatives is that they don't give the moderates in the party a voice. It was pointed out that last night that Scheer never allowed himself to be seen with Raitt and that hurt both of them. The Conservatives with voices ARE hard right in a historical sense: Scheer, Kenney, Ford, Moe, Rempel, Poillevere (don't care if Skippy's name is misspelled). And if reasonable Albertans actually realize that the Liberals and Conservatives aren't that different (which is true) when it comes to economics, why are the pluralities so ridiculous in Western Canada when they continue to rate the economy as a top concern? Conservative pundits say the Liberals have to figure out how to address western alienation, but that's a two-way street. The petulance coming out of the west is not helpful. As for oil & gas, I agree, but there has to be a real discussion on a transition away from it instead of ignoring climate change. Trudeau has said he needs the revenue from TMX to fund the transition. We all know that oil and gas isn't going away anytime soon, but it will become a much less significant source of revenue as time goes on.3 points -

and the conservatives and liberals have a lot of common ground too. That's the problem, some people equate NDP and Liberal like they're the same thing. They aren't, especially on matters of businesses. That's where the Conservatives and Liberals have a lot of common ground. But it's also dangerous to write off the conservatives as simply a hard right agenda. There are a lot of progressive people, especially out west who vote conservative because they feel ignored and betrayed by Liberal governments. It is perilous for the country for these people to be ignored. Things are very divided regionally in this country again and that's not a good thing. Time to stop the divisiveness from all parties and start working for the country as a whole, and yes that does include maintaining some semblance of an oil and gas industry like it or not.3 points -

You're right. I should've been clearer initially. Sorry. What I should've said is the first female PM elected under normal* circumstances who didn't lose her seat and position after a federal election six months after the fact. * normal in that it doesn't involve a PM retiring That or just anyone with some substance. The 2017 CPC leadership election was embarrassing and I'm not sure if the party has recovered from it. I have no doubt the party would be much stronger with someone like Ambrose at the helm. The fact she was selected by Trudeau as a member of the NAFTA Advisory Council two years ago speaks volumes to her knowledge, experience, and quality as a political figure. Well said, the bolded parts in particular. Lots of big changes happened last night. Here's hoping they'll get back to work for the benefit of this country and its people, and put the petty differences and BS aside. Now the burning question: does Scheer step down?3 points -

The last time we had a Liberal minority, we were this close to having Universal Child Care. Layton screwed up and ended up being the kingmaker for Harper. He was a lousy choice to begin with. Then again, the 2017 CPC leadership race was uninspiring at best. FWIW, I think Rona Ambrose would've been a great choice had she thrown her hat into the ring. What no one is really saying on tv is that this election was on climate change. 66% of voters supported parties that believe in climate change. I hope the provincial conservative parties take note. Denying it will just saddle you with the Federal backstop, so either come up with a proper plan or accept your fate.2 points -

You either don't read the stuff you post, or you don't understand it. The 12.4% refers to the percentage of the carbon sink made up by LAI (leaf area index), not growth in the global carbon sink. "Through process-based diagnostic ecosystem modeling, we find that the increase in LAI alone was responsible for 12.4% of the accumulated terrestrial carbon sink" The pertinent part of the article is: "Globally, climate change weakened the land sink during the 1981 โ 2016 period. When itโs effect on LAI, such as longer growing season, is excluded. Climate change induced an accumulated GPP reduction of 37.6 Pg C, whereas the accumu-lated decrease of ecosystem respiration was 10.5 Pg C during the 1981 โ 2016 period. Consequently, the climate change caused a net reduction of 27.1 Pg C ( โ 28.6%) in the accumulated sink enhancement since 1981. The decrease of the land sink due to climate change occurred almost in all regions."2 points
